I went to an outdoor lunch today with my Republican friend (let's call her Sue) and her friend (let's call her Mary) who also happens to be a Republican. They're not just republicans but they are Trumplicans. I know...I know...why do I have a Trumplican for a friend?! I live in Florida....what can I say?? Sue is my only Trumplican friend. I dropped my other ones but this one is hard to drop because she truly is a good person
Anyway, politics came up and they went on and on about how they feel and I went on and on about how i feel. You wouldn't even believe how this conversation went!
But anyway, then it went to how they think Biden has dementia. And I said to them "Do you know why you think Biden has dementia? It's because Fox News has you believing that. Just like in 2016, just before the election, you all believed Hillary was dying of pneumonia because Fox News kept telling you she was! Last I saw, Hillary is very much alive!" So Mary asked if I thought Fox News brainwashes them and I said yes. Both Sue and Mary were flabbergasted with me!
I said let me give you one more small example of showing you how I think Fox News reports things (or in this example, doesn't report things). I asked them to imagine if Hillary had become President and she had put Chelsea in her administration, I said that would have been a 24/7 news story on Fox News on how absolutely horrendous it is that Hillary did that! And then both of you would have vilified Hillary for doing that. Yet, Trump puts Ivanka in there, and not a peep from Fox News! So because Fox News doesn't vilify Trump 24/7 for doing that, you both were completely comfortable with Trump putting Ivanka in his administration
I said these are 2 examples of how Fox News and other right wing media brainwashes people
Again, they were flabbergasted that I said they were being brainwashed! They did not like it one bit!
So, did I cross the line and go too far by telling Sue and Mary, to their faces, that I think they are being brainwashed??
A Frustrating Evening
Met with two friends (republicans) for an outdoor dinner. First time seeing them since COVID started
Where do I begin??! Here is the rundown....
1) They think Biden has dementia
2) They think Trump had nothing to do with the Capitol insurrection
3) They think Trump is responsible for the successful vaccine rollout
4) They think Biden will make us Venezuela
5) They don't think anything is wrong with America, and they can't understand why Americans want to change it
6) They think Biden stole the election
I could go on and on. They kept coming up with one republican talking point after another. I know there are plenty of people that still think like them but to hear it face to face was too much for me to take! I was able to refute everything they said but of course they didn't buy what I had to sell. The only thing that I didn't say that I wish I had is, regarding #5, "If there's nothing wrong with America, then how come I never heard you complain about Trump's slogan...Make America Great Again??!! MAGA means you want to make changes to America. So if America's so great, why didn't you complain about Trump wanting to make changes??" I didn't think of saying that back to them until we got away from politics and then I didn't want to go back to that subject again with them!
Just came home and I feel like I need a shower to wash that Republican crap off of me!!

Can someone please explain to me why MAGAts are attacking Asians. I thought COVID was a hoax! So why are they going ballistic on Asians over something that doesn't even exist!!

Gotcha Ronna...I have questions about that too! But where was your concern on how Fox News, Limbaugh etc did not care to cover Trump's sexual assault accusers or talk about his horrid handling of COVID??!
I wish the anchor this morning had brought that up with Ronna!!
The one thing with Trump is that there is nothing negative a Republican can point their finger at about a Democratic politician that Trump himself is not guilty of! A Republican has no moral ground to attack a Democratic politician by calling them a liar, an incompetent, a racist, a con man, a sexual assaulter, a bully etc etc etc without acknowledging the fact that their former President was all those things yet they were absolutely just fine with it!
My Latest Gripe Of The Last 4 Years!
I, as we all, have millions of gripes (gripe is not a strong enough word!) about the last 4 years but I don't remember this ever being mentioned and I just thought of it now
Whenever the right talked about the forgotten man (rural, white voters) did anyone from the left say, "Well, what about the African American man? What about the Native American? Haven't they been forgotten too??"
I personally feel they have been forgotten even more because the rural white voters, at least, had white privilege to fall back on! And I won't even mention Hispanics or Asians etc because the right would just say "those are recent immigrants so they don't count!" (even if they weren't recent immigrants, that's what they would say)
Maybe I missed it but did you hear anyone from the left point out that blacks and Native Americans have also been forgotten as a response to the right anytime they brought up the forgotten rural, white voter??
The Younger Generation
When I see the Hunter, Ashley, and the Biden grandchildren and Kamala's niece and step-children all huddled together today it brings my heart so much joy and peace to know that these are caring individuals who have integrity!! Now compare that to the other younger generation of people that were huddled together this morning to hear Drumpf's speech....Ivanka, Jared, Eric, Lara, Don Jr, Guilfoyle, Tiffany, and her fiance....what a contrast...one group is a treasure and the other group is just plain trash!!

Why Isn't More Being Said About Trump Not Trying To Stop It?!
Trump says his speech was appropriate. We all know it wasn't!!!
But shouldn't another point be emphasized?? We all, including Trump, watched on TV the storming of the Capitol and all the destruction...we watched it go on and on and on! Why didn't he immediately send over the National Guard or tanks or something to stop those people??! He let it go on and on because he wanted them to keep doing it!!
I don't see this being said enough in the media!!
When Will The White House Get Sanitized??
Where is the time to sanitize the White House after Drumpf leaves and before The Bidens move in?? I don't think there will be any time. I think Joe and Jill and the pets need to live in a pet-friendly hotel until The White House is deemed safe to live in!!
Biden's Ankle
If Biden had twisted his ankle while playing with his dog BEFORE the election, could you even imagine how Drumpf and Fox News etc would have framed it??! The screaming tweets and headline story would be
"Biden Fell Down And Is Now On His Deathbed!!!!"
