"Under the rules of Me Too, I'm not allowed to use that expression," the president said in Erie, Pen

Trump Tells Supporters At Rally That #MeToo Keeps Him From Saying What He Wants
“Under the rules of Me Too, I’m not allowed to use that expression,” the president said in Erie, Pennsylvania.

President Donald Trump took aim at the Me Too movement once again on Wednesday night, saying he wasn’t allowed to utter certain phrases because they were no longer politically correct.

Trump, speaking at a rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, was reflecting on his election nearly two years ago and spoke about winning Pennsylvania in the 2016 presidential race. He said that for many years Republicans had been unable to capture those electoral college votes, and then he said there was an expression he wanted to use to describe the state, but he had to censor himself because the media was present.

“Every Republican thinks they are going to win Pennsylvania, but I got it. I’d use an expression, you know there’s an expression, but under the rules of Me Too I’m not allowed to use that expression anymore, I can’t do it,” Trump said. “It’s the ‘person’ that got away.”

The phrase the president was likely referencing was the Frank Sinatra song title, “The Gal That Got Away,” his cover of “The Man That Got Away” from the 1954 film “A Star Is Born.”

When someone in the audience shouted for the president to use the words anyway, Trump said: “I would do it except for these people up there,” pointing to the media. “There is an expression, but we’ll change the expression. Pennsylvania was always the ‘person’ that got away.”

'Keep Your Legs Open': A Restaurant Owner Tells an Employee After Firing Her

"On Tuesday evening, I was contacted to work a double shift at Terry's Turf Club where I have been happily employed since January. Halfway through my shift, Terry came up to me and fired me, without warning and said to me "you'll be fine, just keep your legs open."

When she was trying to depart, she said Carter would not leave her alone.

"I walked to gather my belongings up a flight of stairs," she recalled. "Terry followed me. He said, "I'll miss that a**" as he was behind me on the stairs. At that point I got my phone out and started recording him because I was extremely uncomfortable."

Reid went on to explain, "The video I took was over 3 minutes long where I was asking for some sort of explanation as to why I was fired. Terry refused to give me any explanation other than 'it's just not working out.' He then, again, told me 'I don't have to explain anything to you, keep your legs open' with a smile on his face.'

In the video Reid posted, Carter again says "Keep your legs open."

The young waitress pleaded to the readers, "Please do not give your business to Terry's Turf Club on Eastern Avenue in Cincinnati, OH. Please share this so that people know the type of person the owner is."

The burger joint is infamous for gaining rave reviews, but that has changed. Since the post was made public, the restaurant's Facebook page has been saturated with one-star reviews and Yelp has temporarily disabled their review site because of this incident.

"I can't believe he was dumb enough to say this on film," Donyetta Bailey, a local employment attorney, told WKRC, after she reviewed the video.

Kavanaugh backs Trump administration on jailing and deporting immigrants for crimes committed years

Newly seated Justice Brett Kavanaugh spoke up Wednesday in defense of the Trump administration’s view that legal immigrants with criminal records must be arrested and held for deportation, even years after they were convicted and completed their sentences.

At issue is a federal law that calls for mandatory detention and possible deportation for “criminal aliens,” including legal immigrants convicted of crimes ranging from violent felonies to simple drug possession. The law says the Homeland Security secretary “shall take into custody any alien” with a criminal record that could lead to deportation “when the alien is released.”

The debate focuses on when, exactly, is when.

In a class-action suit brought in California, lawyers for the American Civil Liberties Union complained the mandatory detention policy has been applied to lawful immigrants who had lived and worked in the community for decades after being convicted of misdemeanors such as drug possession charges.

the mic snatch and drop heard round the world (GOPer grabbing mic from his Dem opponent)

This was previously discussed on DU. Here it is move by move

“I’ve seen the systematic disinvestment in public education,” Mahlberg, a psychology teacher who had never run for office before, told the audience. “I think we can do better than that, and we can start doing better than that by simply making sure that formula increases over time.”

She smiled and turned to her left, awaiting the next question.

She did not see that from her other side, Quam’s hand was sliding low across the table toward her.

And then he yanked the mic straight up from Mahlberg’s fist, like Excalibur from the Arthurian stone, and made it his again.

“Thank you!” he said.

A stir went through the audience. Mahlberg whipped her head around and stared at her empty hand. “Oh,” said the moderator. “I see a rebuttal is required.”

Quam was more pithy as he launched into his second effort to explain his opposition to inflation formulas. “I want to fund success, not failure,” he said. “The formula builds in funding failure.”

Mahlberg listened to this in silence, like everyone else in the library.

“I was really just kind of in a state of shock,” she later told The Washington Post. “I just wanted to make sure I kept my composure.”

She doesn’t recall feeling any anger or embarrassment. “Just disappointment,” she said. “How would anyone feel being on the receiving end of that disrespectful behavior? Disappointment, for my current representative.”

When Quam finished speaking, he leaned across the table again and offered the microphone back. Mahlberg looked at it briefly but did not take it. When he continued to hold it out, she looked away from him.

An amplified clunk shot through the library a moment later. Mahlberg spun back around to see that Quam had just lobbed the microphone toward her. The moderator laughed nervously as Mahlberg regarded the device, laying inert behind her name placard.
