Towlie's JournalQuestion: Why doesn't the Fifth Amendment prevent Bill Cosby from being tried again?
"... nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb..."
I've always assumed the point was to prevent the government from trying over and over again until the defendant eventually runs out of resources and loses.
Why Rosenstein Is Wrong - The Chain of Trust
"Americans should exercise caution before accepting as true any stories attributed to anonymous 'officials,' particularly when they do not identify the country - let alone the branch or agency of government - with which the alleged sources supposedly are affiliated. Americans should be skeptical about anonymous allegations. The Department of Justice has a long-standing policy to neither confirm or deny such allegations."
--------------------------------------------------
The way I see it, Rosenstein makes it sound like we're hearing these things directly from anonymous sources, but we're not. We're hearing from reasonably reputable and trustworthy sources like the Washington Post and New York Times, and THEY presumably know and trust THEIR sources, else they'd be taking a tremendous gamble that would certainly have backfired on them and destroyed their reputations long ago.
So as long as OUR sources maintain their reputation for publishing leaks that are subsequently proven true, we can be confident that they know and trust THEIR sources.
Confused? Read the Wikipedia article on paranoia and Trump's latest tweet will make clear sense.
Trump's latest tweet:
"I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director! Witch Hunt"
Wikipedia Paranoia Article
Paranoia is a thought process believed to be heavily influenced by anxiety or fear, often to the point of delusion and irrationality.[1] Paranoid thinking typically includes persecutory, or beliefs of conspiracy concerning a perceived threat towards oneself (e.g. "Everyone is out to get me" . Paranoia is distinct from phobias, which also involve irrational fear, but usually no blame. Making false accusations and the general distrust of others also frequently accompany paranoia...

Was Trump's face color closer to the white or the red stripes on the flag behind him?
During Trump's short address before the baseball game just now, his face looked remarkably red. In fact, with the flag next to him in the picture, to me his face looked much closer to the red stripes than the white ones. Did anyone else notice that?
WaPo lists Republican arguments with annotated rebuttals, but the rebuttals don't show on the page!
Unless you're using a wide-open and vulnerable browser with no defense against malicious code and annoying features that you don't want, this Washington post article, titled "The Republican response to reports of an investigation into Trump, annotated" will show you only the Republican talking points with no rebuttals whatsoever. The page looks like it's straight out of Fox News or Breitbart.
Sessions Quote: "It's an honor to serve you..." (meaning Trump) Do you realize the implication here?
Do you realize what Sessions said here during the Sickening Sycophant Suck-up? In essence he let it slip that he doesn't consider himself to be serving the United States Constitution, nor the law enforcement community, nor the people of the United States, nor even the abstract concept of justice.
Sessions serves Trump.
Between this and the fact that he illegally refused to disclose to Congress his conversations with Trump, we can deduce what those conversations were about and why Sessions desperately wanted to evade questions about them from Congress. His only alternative was to commit perjury because during those conversations with Trump, Sessions was receiving his orders as to what he would and would not say to Congress.
Seems obvious: What Sessions refused to discuss is what Trump ordered that his testimony would be.
As you read the Bloomberg article, keep in mind the wise words of an infamous war criminal:
"There are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns the ones we don't know we don't know." -- Donald Rumsfeld
Russian Breach of 39 States Threatens Future U.S. Elections
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Russias cyberattack on the U.S. electoral system before Donald Trumps election was far more widespread than has been publicly revealed, including incursions into voter databases and software systems in almost twice as many states as previously reported.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Bloomberg article mentions a lot of data that the Russians TRIED to delete or alter but failed, but it doesn't mention what was SUCCESSFULLY deleted or altered because that's presumably unknowable to anyone but the Russians who did it.
I'm just sayin', keep that in mind.
The Sixteen Sycophants
Google returns no hits for "sixteen sycophants" (in quotes), so I hereby claim credit for coining this label.
