Clinton Campaign Accuses Sanders of Trying to Win Nomination - observed by Andy Borowitz

NEW YORK (The Borowitz Report)—The war of words between the two Democratic camps heated up over the weekend, as the Clinton campaign accused Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders of “blatantly attempting to win the Democratic nomination for President.”

Appearing on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” the Clinton campaign spokesman Harland Dorrinson said that Sanders’s actions in the past few weeks “left little doubt as to what his true intentions are—namely, to be the Party’s nominee.”

"He’s been raising money, he’s been running in primaries, and, yes, he’s been winning caucuses,” the Clinton aide said. “It’s time for Bernie Sanders to come clean with the American people and admit what he’s really up to.”
“It’s deeply troubling that what appeared at first to be a purely symbolic candidacy has turned into something else entirely,” he said.

In an interview on CNN, Secretary Clinton said that she would not “take the bait” when she was asked whether she thought Sanders was trying to win the nomination, but she stopped short of disavowing the accusation.

“I think that’s a question that only Senator Sanders can answer,” she said. “But I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that if, at the end of the day, it turns out that Bernie Sanders has been doing everything he’s been doing because he wants to be President, that would be very disappointing.”

Trump Says He Will Sue Everyone in Wisconsin - revealed by Andy Borowitz

MILWAUKEE (The Borowitz Report)—In a sharply worded post-election threat on Tuesday night, the Republican Presidential candidate Donald J. Trump said that he intended to sue the entire population of Wisconsin “for everything it’s worth.”

In his terse remarks, Trump departed from the customs of political concession speeches by failing to congratulate the evening’s winner or thank his supporters, instead sternly warning the people of Wisconsin to “lawyer up.”

“By the time my attorneys are through with you, I’m going to own your entire state, lock, stock, and barrel,” he said. “Not that I want to own it. Wisconsin is a freaking dump.”

I have another high five story about feeling the Bern. This time at a Symphony performance

I'm excited about the win in Wisconsin, I won't even worry about this story being not so different from my post office story of a couple of days ago, it has a LGBT aspect as well that was quite wonderful in front of a deeply Southern audience

I went to a Symphony performance tonight and left at intermission, the pieces I went to hear had been played, and I wanted to get home to watch the results of the Wisconsin voting.
Before the orchestra started the Maestro turned to the audience to tell us that the main cellist in the orchestra died of cancer. Great sadness. Tomorrow 22 cellists will perform at her funeral at a Universalist Fellowship. He then said, as his last comment: “15 members of her family are in the audience tonight, including her wife.”

During intermission, before I hightailed out, I went to the bathroom to check the phone for how Bernie was doing. When I read the numbers I saw in the mirror that I got this big shit eating grin on my face, my eyes got big too, and a woman next to me, washing her hands, asked me what was up.
I showed her the Bernie Wisconsin numbers and told her that this made me very happy.

I swear to you she high fived me, said she  was a member of the mourning party of the cellist, and that she was going back in to bring them the good news because they are all Bernie supporters.

I can’t make this stuff up. And I will continue to spread my joy about feeling the Bern and who knows, there may be more recounting of my experiences .

Don't miss it like I did....the theme for April's contest is pinned at the top

I looked in periodically over the last few days to see what's happening about the theme, did not find it, and then it all but reared up and bit me.

I like the theme of "water" and LOVE the examples CC posted.

Postal Clerk going postal in a positive way for Bernie

A small package to my grandson who is making his way in New York / Brooklyn and who lives in a tiny sublet was way-layed because his mailbox did not hold the package. When he went to the post office where it was supposedly held they had sent it back to me.

Imagine me at the counter with a 40 something burly black postal clerk listening to my story and then prepping to re-send it, with the counter for the new postage going as I held my credit card in hand. I looked at him and said: “I would not even try again, but it’s a Bernie shirt I made for my grandson, and the vote is coming in New York”.

His hand went up in high five anticipation, and we followed through on it as he said: “More power to the cause. You actually are the person who was harmed here and I will be able to re-send this at the expense of the post office.” I smiled, and said thank you.
He then said he was following the potential problems with super delegates “who may not follow the will of the people” and also said he did not understand why so many black women did not know they would be better off with “our” candidate.

This was followed with another heart felt high five which I originated.

Photo is thank you selfie grandson took in front of a mirror wearing his Bernie shirt.

Reminiscing: Going back to a time when our Senators mostly were Adults.

This graphic doesn't say what the vote was, but it was 97-0. This was Pres. Reagan's choice in an election year to replace Lewis Powell. Unlike Garland, though, Kennedy graduated cum laude from Harvard. Garland graduated magna cum laude from Harvard. No Republican and no Democrat called Kennedy's qualifications into question.

Tonight's the night in my opinion. The decline of the Donald has begun a freefall

His lunatic self let himself get caught in the verbiage of Tweety's pushing.
Mr. Trump has started shoveling a grave for himself by saying women ought to be penalized / prosecuted in some yet undefined way if they get an abortion
(whether he rescinded it later to put the onus on abortion doctors is irrelevant)
and then to answer the question if men who get women pregnant should also be punished with a "No".

This was in my opinion the stop in time when asinine statements, and shocking revelations of skin thin thought processes have turned and will no longer provide a new climb in the polls.

I predict the reverse will happen, they will go down now, and he will lose Wisconsin for starters.
I have been waiting for the worm to turn and I think this will do it.

I don't agree with a DU thread in progress that MSNBC let us down by pushing this issue into the forefront of tonight's long individual interviews as the most important thing. I think it was just that important, and new info, and needed to be featured on the front burner.

The back pedaling the Donald did by later blaming the doctors simply indicates he caught on and tried to wipe the stain off the floor.

“What is wrong with North Carolina” musing editorial by Ronnie C. Rouse

For me there was a time being born and raised in the state of North Carolina carried a great sense of pride. If you take a moment to reflect on it, we’ve got everything that you could ever ask for. Great eating, breathtaking scenery, amazing sports teams, and a diverse population. North Carolina as a whole is steeped in tradition and has rightfully substantiated it’s place in American history. We’re the home of The Lost Colony, the place where Babe Ruth hit his first home run as a professional, and where The Wright Brothers first took flight. Not to mention we’re the home of Michael Jordan, arguably the greatest basketball player that has ever lived.

“And in 2016, it appears that we’ve got it wrong again.”
But to be truthful, we have been known to be tardy when it comes to getting on the right side of history. We were the last state to pass an ordinance of secession during The Civil War. The University of North Carolina, which Michael Jordan attended, just started integrating African-American students in 1955. The city of Greensboro is known more for the 1960’s Woolworth sit-ins and the 1979 KKK “Greensboro Massacre” than as the home of Loretta Lynch, the first female African-American US Attorney General. And in 2016, it appears that we’ve got it wrong again.

On March 23 The Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act, better known as House Bill 2, was signed by Gov. Pat McCrory (R) less than 12 hours after being introduced by the North Carolina General Assembly. Numerous critics are now referring to the bill as the most Anti-LGBT bill in the United States. The first lines of the bill say that it is “A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR SINGLE SEX MULTIPLE OCCUPANCY BATHROOM AND CHANGING FACILITIES IN SCHOOLS AND PUBLIC AGENCIES AND TO CREATE STATEWIDE CONSISTENCY IN REGULATION OF EMPLOYMENT AND PUBLIC ACCOMMODATIONS.” So you’re probably thinking, “what’s the big deal”?

“It’s more than just some LBGT legislation that the language of the bill suggests.”
Many believe that this is simply a law that is made to make sure that people are using the restrooms and facilities related to their biological sex. It is much more than that. One of the things that a lot of people fail to realize is some of the actual underwriting of the bill itself. It’s more than just some LBGT legislation that the language of the bill suggests. For starters, the law now declares that state law overrides all local ordinances concerning employment, public accommodations and wages. That means should your county or city officials choose to raise minimum wage in your local municipality, now they can’t. The more affluent counties that can afford and wish to pay employees more are no longer allowed to under this “LBGT law.”

So where’s the discrimination in wanting men to use a men’s restroom and vice versa? Where’s the discrimination in protecting our children from sexual predators that may want to enter the privacy of their bathroom? For one, people who identify as transgender seem to be more likely to be assaulted in a bathroom or locker room. Concerning sexually predatory behavior, the previous Charlotte ordinance that protected those who identify as LGBT does not protect sexual predators from prosecution. Charlotte passed an ordinance that did not allow businesses to discriminate against gay, lesbian or transgender customers in addition to long-standing protections based on race, age, religion and gender. The North Carolina General Assembly overturned it and it now applies statewide. For example, now if you have had sexual reassignment surgery to become a man, law mandates that you have to use the same restroom as someone’s mother, wife, or daughter. The law also allows businesses to refuse to serve people who identify as gay, lesbian or transgender since they are no longer protected under said law.

The financial backlash of this has the potential to be utterly catastrophic. According to the Human Rights Campaign, the state is now at risk of losing $4.5 billion in federal funding because it is in direct violation of the federal non-discrimination act Title IX. Numerous global companies and entities such as, but not limited to, the NBA, Apple, Dow Chemical, IBM, Google, and Bank Of America have openly expressed deep concern and distaste for the law.

North Carolina has been making great leaps and strides progressively in recent years but once again, it seems like we take two steps forward and twenty steps back.

The law goes into effect April 1.

This is not the North Carolina I’m proud of.
