A funny thing happened on the way to Mau-mauing Barack Obama

By Liberal Librarian

So, Senator Elizabeth Warren and presidential candidate Senator Bernie Sanders have been on the warpath over the Trans-Pacific Partnership and its attendant fast track trade authority. In doing so, they have engendered much support among the usual—and some not-so-usual—sectors. Namely, the people who always thought Barack Obama was a sell-out to corporate special interests, evidenced by him not frog-marching Jamie Dimon and other banksters to stand for federal indictments over the 2008 meltdown.

snip

It’s the idea that Pres. Obama would cavalierly undo one of his signature achievements—setting up rules so that 2008 didn’t happen again, rules which he plucked an obscure academic named Elizabeth Warren to help implement—to coddle the same Wall Street is ludicrous on its face.

Of course, it’s not ludicrous if one thinks that “Obama was always going to betray us.” The sense of perpetual disappointment—both on the Left and the Right—drives much of the country’s political culture. This is due, in large part, because of the apparent lack of legitimacy of many government institutions, stoked by a right-wing drive to paint all government as useless, and a concomitant view on the left that the government is a subsidiary of corporate America.

But people who should know better are now feeding the fires of disillusion.

Sen. Warren’s main gripe is that “the public isn’t seeing the bill”. Oddly, as this interview with Greg Sargent illustrates, she keeps moving the goal posts. She, of course, can see the negotiating text in full. It then becomes: “Fast track won’t allow Congress to make changes to the deal”. The problem is that fast track can be revoked if the deal doesn’t meet its stated aims in Congress’ opinion. Then she goes through some more of Pres. Obama’s “hypotheticals”—all hypotheticals that require GOP control of the White House and Congress after 2016. Which would be a good reason to focus energy on winning 2016, rather than shivving the party’s sitting President in the back.

11. It was either that or Obama did it when he went to Mars to start a birth certificate printing press!
Mon May 11, 2015, 09:20 PM
May 2015

Obama did it through time travel and a wormhole. And get this:

He was sent by the CIA and DARPA as a teenager! See, CIA! CIA! CIA!

Obama should have gone back and eliminated all evil from before his birth in the Kenyan province of Hawaii.

But they do have a point about PBO and the alphabet agencies. Here's the proof. He's been one of them for many years...

Forget Kenya. Never mind the secret madrassas. The sinister, shocking truth about Barack Obama’s past lies not in east Africa, but in outer space. As a young man in the early 1980s, Obama was part of a secret CIA project to explore Mars. The future president teleported there, along with the future head of Darpa...

Obama wasn’t the only one making the otherworldly voyage. As “Barry Soetero,” the 19-year-old Obama was one of 10 youths selected to secretly teleport to and from Mars, forming a band of interplanetary Teen Titans. Regina Dugan, the director of Darpa, was another member. Between 1981 and 1983, Obama is supposed to have visited Mars twice, by way of a teleportation chamber called a “jump room.” Basiago, a fellow chrononaut, told the website Exopolitics that he saw Obama “walk back to the jump room from across the Martian terrain.” To acknowledge his comrade, Obama is said to have told Basiago, “'We’re here'” - apparently, “with some sense of fatalism.”

It is not known what exactly Obama did on Mars. (Socializing Martian health care, perhaps? Building a birth-certificate printing press?) His mission was a perilous one, according to Basiago and Stillings. The CIA wished to “establish a defense regime protecting the Earth from threats from space” as well as a legal claim to “territorial sovereignty,” making Obama something of a Martian conquistador. Presumably, Obama’s CIA handlers needed him to “acclimate Martian humanoids and animals to their presence” in order to secure the U.S.-Martian alliance. (We’ll bet you weren’t even aware of Martian animals.)

“Simply put, your task is to be seen and not eaten,” an elder chrononaut, retired Army Maj. Ed Dames, is alleged to have told a young Obama...

http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2012/01/obama-mars/

Personally, I think Danger Room is onto something with this story. It all makes perfect sense. And I appreciate Obama having our back against any extra-terrestrial menace. And I'm glad he didn't get eaten.

Unfortunately, the White House has denied this trip. But I don't believe them on this one. No, I believe this. Just because I just want to, and it fits in with my view of the cosmos.

No one can ever make me believe differently. So take that... Uh, anyone.

feel even more perplexed and frustrated than say someone on the other said of the Continent and Ocean who has only been observing from afar.

Then she goes through some more of Pres. Obama’s “hypotheticals”—all hypotheticals that require GOP control of the White House and Congress after 2016.

Which would be a good reason to focus energy on winning 2016, rather than shivving the party’s sitting President in the back.

What in the world is her agenda.. merely fundraising?!

If she'd just stick to the facts and not continual propaganda bait.. that'd be Great!

Look at them.. they're saying "stop Obama" stop Obama" "stop Obama"

Could you link me to the other article you talked about with freshwest? The "would get crucified" one? 'Cause telling you that ""If you are wondering, you are a fucking idiot." shows they've already lost it and have their little OUT!

Or you could PM it?

52. Definition of Mau-Mau: "to intimidate (as an official) by hostile confrontation or threats"
Tue May 12, 2015, 04:34 AM
May 2015

had to look it up as I wasn't sure . . .

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/mau-mau

And my favorite part:

Remember, Pres. Roosevelt was excoriated by the left for not being liberal enough. There can be no doubt that Pres. Obama feels a great disillusion from allies who cavil but never bring numbers to the table. Every deal he’s had to make with Republicans have come about because of liberals’ consistent failure to vote in midterm elections, handing control of Congress to the GOP. Then these same liberals who stayed home complain when Pres. Obama isn’t “liberal enough”. (Tell me where there was a filibuster-proof vote for the public option, or raising taxes past the Bush tax-cut expiration. I’ll wait.)

60. to use the term "mau mau" as a synonym for attack is RACIST

Has any liberation movement been more slandered than Kenya's Land and Freedom Army, usually referred to as the Mau Mau? This term is still used by racists as a club to attack Black people.

Right-wing columnist Ann Coulter, outraged that Halle Berry won an Oscar in 2002, complained that this Black artist had "successfully mau-maued her way to a Best Actress Award."

Former Vice President Daniel Quayle's chief of staff, William Kristol, said Carol Mosely Braun "mau-maued" the U.S. Senate when, as the only African Amer ican woman member in the Senate's history, she stopped a charter renewal for the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

Thousands of Mau Mau guerrillas wrote a heroic chapter in the book of liberation with their blood. As with the French in Algeria, it was the armed struggle in Kenya that compelled the British imperialists to grant independence to their African colonies.

Coulter's comment is being used in a racist context; it is racist. This context is not and isn't.

65. it's a canard that fast track can be revoked in the current Congress
Tue May 12, 2015, 07:33 AM
May 2015

...anyone can count the votes which will have republicans overwhelming supporting TPP and a sufficient number of Democrats in support of the trade pact to ensure any opposition won't reach the 60 vote threshold negotiated in the TPA deal to revoke fast track. It's a cynical and insincere clause which is designed to make it appear there's a way to back out of fast track. The WH (and Sen. Hatch, who came up with this phony clause) knows well the votes aren't there to make that clause realistic.

PLUM LINE: Doesn’t the current framework allow for the revocation of fast track authority?

WARREN: The whole point about fast track is to grease the skids so that 51 votes will get it through…it takes a majority to get rid of fast track.
