You must remember this. Never forget where we were.

Yup, I know. It is all Obama's fault. All of it. It always has been. If you listen to some , you would believe he crashed the economy on his own. He created NSA. He is worse than Bush. He is Republican lite. Dear Gawd. Some here elected him or so they say. Then you left him without back up.

I have to ask, what "Republican Lite" would support Gay marriage? Then support a woman's right to chose and her equal pay? Would they be supporting voting rights? Civil rights? Gun laws? Obamacare? You are lying to yourself and the rest of us by saying this. Shame on you!

It is always so much easier to place the blame elsewhere and never take any responsibility yourself.

Selective memories at times. He never once said Yes I Can. He said Yes WE Can. We, collectively, must stand up and be heard. Everyday we should be fighting tooth and nail for what we believe in.

I for one will not stop until I am 6 feet under.

If your only goal is to get to the top of the page, keep on bashing. It is a proven theory here. I have been told by someone that it works for them, sadly it does.

14. There's a few other things ...

Like keeping the NSA in the business of spying on US citizens, appointing Hillary SoS (since she left his actions have been more in line with his campaign rhetoric) keeping the TPP out of public sight, failing to live up to being the most transparent President and setting a new record on the number of whistleblowers that have been prosecuted.

Would it have been worse under McCain or Romney? Yes. But that's a pretty low bar to hurdle over.

That is categorically untrue and a knee jerk reaction reflecting a poor understanding of the guns control battles in the history of this country.

Why do you make statements like that?

Republicans"? Because that is not the only thing you have complained about in this thread that was started by the OP as a tribute to our great president and his great accomplishments.

Why do you feel the need to bring all these negative things up in a thread of support for our president?

37. The Credit Cardholders' Bill of Rights?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Credit_CARD_Act_of_2009

The gun thing was a rider the GOP put in to get votes.

And since there's no line-item veto, that means if we wanted that bill to cut down on the deceiving practices of credit card companies, then it had to be signed.

Oh, and I'm willing to bet more people die from suicide related to debt than from getting shot by someone else in a federal park. So it probably decreased violence.

52. Reason 1,363 I don't come here as often anymore...

People refusing to read links and being intentionally obtuse:

"Key provisions include: (1) Giving consumers enough time to pay their bills. Credit card companies have to give consumers at least 21 days to pay from the time the bill is mailed. Credit card companies can not "trap" consumers by setting payment deadlines on the weekend or in the middle of the day, or changing their payment deadlines each month.

(2) No retroactive rate increases. Credit card companies must give consumers at least 45 days notice if their rates are about to go up, and can not change any terms of the contract within a year. Low introductory rates must last at least six months.

(3) Easier to pay down debt. Credit card companies must apply payments to a consumer's highest interest rate balances first. Statements must show consumers how long it would take to pay off their existing balance if the consumer made only the minimum payment, and must show the payment amount and total interest cost to pay off the entire balance in 36 months.

(4) Eliminates "fee harvester cards." The act restricts fees on low-balance cards sold to cardholders with bad credit. For many of these cards, the up-front fees charged exceeded the remaining credit.[4] The act also restricts the fees that can be charged for gift cards and other prepaid cards.

(5) Eliminates excessive marketing to young people. Consumers under the age of 21 must prove that they have an independent income or get a co-signer before applying for a credit card. The Act also prevents credit card companies from mailing offers to consumers under 21 unless they "opt in," and prohibits companies from wooing students with T-shirts, free pizza and other free gifts at university-sponsored events.[5]"

53. Speaking of being obtuse, from your own link

The Credit Cardholders' Bill of Rights includes several provisions aimed at limiting how credit card companies can charge consumers but does not include price controls, rate caps, or fee settings.

54. Yes, because if we can't get EVERYTHING!!!!!

Then don't bother trying for ANYTHING.

That's the kind of mentality that pushes people away -- and one of the reasons our turnout sucked ass in November.

I'm so sick of the bull around here.

55. Yes, because a lap dog with no teeth (much like this bill) is

not a watch dog, no matter how loud it barks or growls.

I'd argue that the reason turnout sucked is not because people pointed out shortcomings of such bills, but rather that no real fight was put up by this administration to try and get more from such bills. I would argue that if Obama fought as hard for some legislation as he is the TPP, then people would be more understanding.

You might not like it, but it's a fair criticism.

I am grateful for the ACA, which allows me to go to different insurances even though I have pre-existing conditions. It also keeps me insured though very soon I will be over the $1 million cap I have been in until ACA. It may not matter to some but it does me. Thanks, President Obama for fighting so very hard.

41. Yeah, and a downward spiraling economy

precipitated by reckless investment banking. Massive deficits caused by out of control war spending and cutting of taxes. President Obama took over during the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. His Administration's first priority was to stop that crisis. They did. Then to provide assistance to those most in need. They did. Then to wind down the wars. They did. Then to keep the auto industry afloat. They did. Then to get millions more covered by affordable insurance. They did.

All with reckless opposition from every republican and not enough support from conservative or risk-averse democrats. I'm confident that our next democratic president will help in raising wages, lowering health care costs, and building and expanding upon the accomplishments of the Obama Administration.
