Taking a break until...

I feel it is in my best mental interest to take a break from DU for a while until the Biden negativity from the debates begins to die down a bit. I will also be taking a major break from the media in general. I'll check back every week or so to catch up on posts, but I probably wont post myself. I need to concentrate on my own private life...family, health, and the strengthening my real world political outreaches.

I won't see any responses to this post until the next time I drop by, and since September is the next debate, I'm hoping to be fully back by then, depending on the general vibrations here. It may be I won't be back until the election itself. Time will tell.

Please don't read this the wrong way. I love DU and have since before I officialy joined in 2012. But DU isn't my life. I have let certain posts and responses become too intrusive on my emotions and this has effected my day to day routine.

Be strong loyal Democrats. I will be voting a straight Democratic ticket in November and my goal is to convert at least 5 tRumpers and/or non-voters to Biden before the election.

Until I see you all again...

Blessings, peace, and strength to all.

DU Archives...no longer available.

There used to be a complete DU archive
list at the bottom of DUs main page.
Also, up until last year, you could access the archives by entering

https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=archives&date=2023x4

Then you could change the numbers to change the year and month.

Why was access to DUs archives removed?

I can still access them on archive.org, but I would rather access them here.

Is there a new way I'm missing?

Yahooooo...I'm storage less!

I finally cleared out the last of my stored crap. I've kept a storage unit since 1997. At one time it contained the combined households of myself, my sister, and my mother who passed in 2003.

A wonderful friend of mine who died from cancer held on long enough to clear out his storage units before he passed in 2017. He didn't want to leave the burden of them to his family.

I don't want to either, so that at least is taken care of. Being older and in bad health can set a fire under oneself.

Sunday...the yard sale.

4-year-old shot dead in front of parents in 'unimaginable' road rage crime

A 4-year-old boy was fatally shot in front of his parents in what Southern California authorities described as an "unimaginable" road rage incident involving two suspects who allegedly chased down the victim's family and unleashed a barrage of gunfire on their vehicle.

The fatal shooting occurred Friday night in Los Angeles County after the assailants allegedly cut off the family's car on a highway in Lancaster, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Snip...

"It's unimaginable. This could have been any of our families. It could have been any of us," Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris told Los Angeles ABC station KABC.

A 29-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were arrested and booked at the Los Angeles County Jail on suspicion of murder, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a statement to ABC News on Sunday. The suspects' names were not immediately released.

Snip...

At least 284 children 11 years old or younger have been killed in shootings this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive.

Has this even been posted here yet?

Are we so focused on the conflict in gaza or are so desensitized by gun violence that we are seemingly oblivious to what's going on around us?

Lead contamination in applesauce pouches may have been 'intentional,' FDA official tells Politico

CNNWire

CHICAGO -- Lead contamination in cinnamon applesauce pouches that sickened dozens of young children may have been an "intentional act," a U.S. Food and Drug Administration official told Politico.
In an interview published on Thursday, Jim Jones, FDA's deputy commissioner for human foods, said the agency is still investigating the lead-tainted cinnamon applesauce pouches, "but so far all of the signals we're getting lead to an intentional act on the part of someone in the supply chain and we're trying to sort of figure that out.

There have been at least 65 reports of illnesses linked to apple cinnamon fruit puree pouches sold under the WanaBana, Weis and Schnucks brands, the FDA said this week. To date, all confirmed adverse events have been in children under 6 years old, CNN reported.
The agency has said it's conducting an on-site investigation at the Austrofood facility located in Ecuador and is working with Ecuadorian authorities to gather information about Negasmart, the supplier of cinnamon to Austrofood. WanaBanana USA and Austrofood previously released a statement identifying Negasmart as the supplier of cinnamon used in the pouches.
The FDA told CNN on Thursday it has no further comment on the investigation. CNN has reached out to WanaBanana for a response to the FDA official's comments.

Some contamination occurs in natural products, including rice and apples, because they're grown in soil that contains metals.

"But then we do sometimes see intentionally contaminated products that are sold by weight. And the best way to make something heavy is to put metal in it, right?" she said. "So that's why I think we frequently hear, maybe on the order of once or twice a month, about a product - for some reason it's often turmeric - but a spice that's contaminated with lead."

Anything for a profit....even the health and development of young children.

I hope they nail the basterds.

Millions In Dire Need In Sudan As World Focuses On Gaza.

(My heading)

With so many atrocities occurring in the world, I have wondered why in our little 'created' bit of the real world that focus has been telescopicaly focused on one event and one humanitarian crisis above all others.

Why hasn't this link from al Jazeera been shared here at least once in the months since Hamas made their murderous attack on Israel and Israel responded with absolute force. There are literally thousands dying in Sudan daily and millions are going without the basic needs in life. This is HUGE news. Waaay beyond anything that is happening in Gaza, but is strangely relegated to 'not as important' by some on the internet including pontiff's and politicians.

Maybe the images of starving children, women, and men dosen't have the ummf that people killed by bombs has. I dont really know, but the suffering is as great and the number is 30+ times larger.

Snip..

The war between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces has fractured the country and put at least 24 million people – more than half the population – in dire need of assistance, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

Truly a humanitarian nightmare pushed onto the back burner of conciousness that needs to be pushed out in the open.

Richard, a dear friend from college passed in his

his sleep Sunday. My sister, who was much closer to him than myself, received the news today. I first met him in the theater department at Fresno City College in 1978.

He was so good looking and talented that I always hoped I could be like him...have even half of his drive and experience...

We shared many shows together and film projects and the cast parties that followed.

He was an amazing person and just a nice guy.

His last few decades were spent in L.A. were he was deeply involved in theater and the club circuit ...as a performer, a writer, and as a photographer.

I will miss you my dear friend and always think of you with smile and a tear. The world is less bright without you.

Update...a brief blurb about my friend from L.A. Stage Insider.
