Neighbor problems - suggestions

Iím having a problem with my neighbors and trying to figure out what to do.

Iím a 63 year old white woman. My downstairs neighbor is an older African man ( originally from Nigeria). He lives there with his nephew (maybe 30-35) and his nephews girlfriend.

They have a loud barking dog and play the TV and sometimes music really loud at all times of the night, sometimes all night. Iíve talked to him. He is somewhat deaf and sometimes falls asleep with the TV on.

A few days ago, the girl comes knocking at the door like the police. My husband and I answered the door and she asked if I reported her to the SPCA about the dog. They keep the dog outside in the heat or cold all the time, heís very skinny and he barks constantly. I told her no. I didnít report her.

So already she thinks I called the dog police on her. I told her that I didnít (maybe I should have, somebody did). She used to be friendly but the last time I saw her she gave me the stink eye.

Iím about sick of the noise. I work. I donít want to get up, get dressed, go down the stairs at midnight to tell them to turn down the noise but I also donít want to seem like a Karen by calling the police to come out and tell them to cut it out. And I really donít want to be responsible for calling if the police comes out and ends up shooting someone.

Here's a challenge

We all grew up starting out listening to music that your parents listened to. I challenge you to post some of your momís or dadís music that you both like. My mom loved (probably still does )Dean Martin. So for your listening pleasure.

I have Covid

Now when someone says to me ďIíve been vaccinated. I donít need to wear a maskĒ, I have something to say.

I was vaccinated and I got Covid. I was sick for over 3 weeks. I didnít have to go to the hospital but I did go to the doctor. Even with insurance I spent at least $125.Ē

I had a sore throat first. After about a week, a cough, shortness of breath and overwhelming fatigue. I went and got a Covid test which was positive. I never completely lost my taste, but nothing tasted very good.

Finally starting to feel a little better after more than 3 weeks.

Thanks Joe

This morning when I sat down at my home office and opened my email I saw the email saying everyone in the company was getting at least a $2.00 per hour raise. That brings me from $14.68 an hour to $16.68. I know Joe really isnít responsible for my raise. But it makes about the same amount of sense as the memes floating around blaming him for rising food and gas prices.

Finding money: a windfall or theft?

https://amp.tennessean.com/amp/96983060

Is it unethical for someone to keep money they find in a purse at a thrift store?

Ms. Cheap responds to a reader who questioned shoppers keeping loot that belongs to someone else.

I got quite the response to my recent column on the 99-cent Goodwill outlet store ó was it right for a shopper to keep money she found in a handbag in a bin at the store?

óóóóóóóóóóóóóóóóóó-

So what would you do?

Sometimes you can't win

I do cell phone support Tuesday through Saturday and on Saturday night I usually go out after I get off work to drive for Uber, make a little money and get people home. I like the idea that I help keep drunks off the road and help stranded people get home.

Sunday morning I picked up 2 young guys on the south side of Houston and took them to Lake Jackson. On the way there on the Texas coastal road my car hit a feral pig. It came out of nowhere. The trip was long and was a really good fare. No it seems like today I was practically working for nothing be the repair will cost more than the fare ($168)

I decided to look on the bright side. I am alive. I wasnít hurt at all. My passengers werenít hurt. My passenger were two very polite young guys. As soon as we stopped one of them help me look at the car. The bumper is still attached but the driverís side is cracked, sticking out. The running light is hanging down but still connected. That plastic part on the undercarriage was dragging on the ground so we had to pull it off. But it still runs fine. I had no problem driving back home. I know a guy and Iím going to go by tomorrow and see what itís going to take to fix it.

I was really lucky that the hog wasnít bigger and that it wasnít standing directly in front. We could have all died in a wreck. Lot of people pay way more money to have adventures. I was riding around with two young guys. One of them was getting married. The were going home from his bachelor party. We listened to Nirvana, Weezer and The Toadies. At least I had fun until the feral hog.

Update: Even better news. I got it fixed for $100.
