I have been on Bourbon Street on New years Eve. It was jammed with people...families with little children,

locals, tourists, musicians and drunks. It was one big joyful party. We ducked into a dark little hole in the wall to get out of the crowds and found a small group of very elderly men playing banjos. We sat on milk cartons and were transfixed.
What happened last night was meant to terrorize us and send a message that nowhere is safe anymore.

Someone at dinner yesterday said to me: "Reading is becoming a privilege." The rest of the dinner

was taken up with a discussion of what that means. A math teacher at the table said that some of her kids have never read a book. I have an 11 year old granddaughter who won't read anything that isn't on a screen.

I am at a loss to know what is going on here.

I am thrilled that the President pardoned his son. Let the rapist/34 count felon/fraudster/grifter fulminate all he wants. I hope Biden pardons every member of his administration and his staff for anything and everything they ever did while serving their country.
