West unfairly 'demonize' Putin, Russian president best partner for US – Stephen Cohen [View all]

American professor Stephen Cohen in his article "Distorting Russia," shares his opinion about real image of Putin and the current situation in Ukraine and Russia. Cohen thinks that Putin was the best potential partner the US had anywhere in the world to pursue its national security.

Putin literally saved Obama's presidency in Syria's issue this August. Putin and Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov had been in the shadows pushing Iran to open a conversation with the United States, because Obama's been under pressure to attack Iran too. Not to mention the fact that Russia facilitates the supply of about 60 percent of the material going to NATO and American forces fighting in Afghanistan.


Stephen Cohen, a professor emeritus at Princeton and NYU has been widely derided as a Putin apologist. Cohen says he is the real American patriot and those who are pressing President Barack Obama and the European Union to counter the Russians in Crimea are a danger to the US national security.
