(10,018 posts)I've seen nothing in any news report that the United employees did anything other than offer money. And they didn't offer the maximum they could have ($1350). Several other airlines fly from Chicago to Louisville. Did they try to find seats for the crew that needed to be in Louisville on one of those carriers? Or even one seat for the doctor, who might have been delayed but still able to get home that night. Chicago also has another airport--were later flights available from Wrigley Field? Or did they explore options of flying their crew or the doctor to Cincinnati or Lexington? It's a short drive from either to Louisville. It seems that they did not really explore the options. The message United's actions sends, and even the response of the CEO, is that passengers are just so much baggage and they can treat them however they want! Their employees need better training and respect for the people paying the bills.
