He won Iowa in 2020 largely due to the support of older folks, who, I think, respond positively to his baby face and the respect he shows them.

He wasn't the candidate in 2020, partly because the Iowa caucus results didn't come in until after New Hampshire voted. Jim Clyburn's endorsement of the much more experienced and well-known Biden clinched the nomination.

Biden was the right candidate for the election and for governing now, but in a different cycle, Buttigieg might've grabbed the nomination, as the unknown Governor of Arkansas did in 1992.
