In one of the Facebook pages I frequent, Population Connection's, the admin posted a Guardian article about racial disparities in healthcare, and that this included Covid19 healthcare as well.

Some troll named Kristov Randalov (no I'm not kidding) posted a pie chart from the Illinois Department of Health showing that in Illinois, Non-Hispanic Whites suffered 44% of the Covid19 deaths while Blacks suffered a smaller 28% and Hispanics suffered a yet smaller 20% of the Covid19 deaths. The pie chart dramatically illustrated that more Non-Hispanic Whites died than either Blacks or Hispanics.

And then he concluded that the Guardian article was "just more liberal B.S."

I posted:

Hmm, looking at Kristov's chart and comparing it to Illinois population statistics, it looks like Black and Hispanics combined are 32% of the Illinois population but have 48% of the Covid19 deaths, while Non-Hispanic Whites are 61% of the population but have 44% of the Covid19 deaths.

Doing the math, that means that the Covid19 death rate of Blacks and Hispanics combined are 2.1 times that of Non-Hispanic Whites.

Looking at Blacks and Hispanics separately, Blacks have 2.7 times the Covid19 death rate of Non-Hispanic Whites, while Hispanics have 1.6 times the Covid19 death rate of Non-Hispanic Whites.

Some people just can't seem to be able to grok the concept that one must also look at proportions of the populations, and not just the proportion of the deaths, in order to determine how each demographic is impacted.

Soon afterwards, Comrade Kristov deleted his post.
