So said Scott Jennings on CNN tonight, adding, We have a set of issues and policies to run on.
Heres the problem, Scott: Your party is already running ugly because its the only way your pResident knows how to run, and there isnt a single Republican who has the balls to tell him to do otherwise.
He has now demonstrated his intention to use racism as the cornerstone of his re-election campaign and no one among the powers-that-be in the GOP will stand up to him, no less stop him. They will do exactly what theyve done from the day he became your partys nominee. They will dance to whatever tune he whistles they will make excuses for him, they will lie for him, they will deny that his own words were ever spoken and that his own actions ever took place.
I found your remarks tonight to be rather amusing, as you promoted the idea that your party has other policies to run on. And what are those policies, Scott? The policy of separating brown children from their parents? The policy of locking brown people in filthy cages like animals, while denying them showers? The policy of identifying Mexicans as rapists, Muslims as terrorists, or labelling countries brown and black people come from as shithole countries?
Your pResidents entire tenure in office has been an exercise in promoting racism. His base loves it and as he said yesterday, he thinks hes winning the political debate by pursuing that strategy.
If I were you, Scott, Id spread the word among your fellow Republicans. Its time to start coming up with talking points that make being a racist something thats laudable, patriotic, and good for the country because your pResident isnt going to change his tune and your party, as always, is going to dance to that tune, no matter how ugly it is.
In fact, your pResident handed you a perfect slogan just today, when he said that those who chanted Send her back! at his rally were patriots.
So you might want to start printing those bumper-stickers now, Scott because that sentiment is exactly what you and your party are going to be promoting between now and next November.
The Republican party is the party of racism. Of course, most of us have known that for a very long time. But now youre going to have to say it out loud and youre going to have to say it with the same conviction and enthusiasm youve displayed while covering for your presidents lies, making excuses for his incompetence, and explaining away his obvious corruption.
So welcome to the 2020 campaign, Scott. Your party will be running ugly so get used to it, because its not like you or your party members have the spine to do otherwise.
