In reply to the discussion: State AGs Just Subpoenaed All Of Trump's Tax Returns [View all]ashling
(25,771 posts)31. I was once held in contempt of court
for not answering after my name was called 3rd time. I had been stopped by Highway Patrol and was a few minutes late for court. ( My old Ford picyup threw a rod and was not steering well, so Highway Patrol pulled me over to see if I was drinking - I was sober ... the judge was drunk w/ power) Judge fined me $25 and told the Sheriff to not let me leave the courthouse until it was paid.
I never paid anything, the sheriff let me go, and the judge forgot about it.
Maybe Trump could be held in contempt and in jail until they were produced.

States do not need Trump to do it. They can go directly to the IRS who cannot refuse a court order.

The subpoenas are for his various entities so the requests are not for his personal tax returns.

The OP quotes the article as saying "all." The writer's misunderstanding? Faulty journalism?

I agree that Attorneys General is more correct, but both are accepted these days.
