Hurrian Hymn no. 6 - 1400 BC is the oldest surviving melody

This astonished me. An actual recording of a woman singing the hymn, as deciphered by Richard Dumbrill. You can hear it at the link.

From Wikipedia,

Richard J. Dumbrill (Epernay 1947) is a British/French archaeomusicologist and composer.

Dumbrill has studied the archaeomusicology of the Ancient Near East, especially the interpretation of cuneiform texts of Music Theory written in Sumerian, Babylonian and Hurrian.

Hurrian Hymn no. 6 - 1400 BC is the oldest surviving melody and is over 3,400 years old. The hymn was discovered on a clay tablet in Ugarit, Latakia now part of modern-day Syria, and is dedicated to the Hurrians' goddess of the orchards Nikkal ~This rendition is by Richard Dumbrill

Pepperoni vandalism at N.J. home leaves residents cheesed

The charges may come by the pound for a pair of vandals that left a Manville porch peppered with pepperoni last week, the woman who lives at the home said.

Heather Dougherty awoke to a virtual deli counter on her doorstep and car after the salami assailants were caught on a neighbor’s surveillance camera slicing up and tossing about two pounds of the spicy stuff across her yard.

“I opened up the front door Wednesday morning and said, ‘What the hell is this?’” Dougherty told NJ Advance Media in an interview.

Dougherty said she reported the incident to police and was helping them identify the suspects.

NY man arrested for allegedly spray-painting squirrels red after trapping them

By NBC New York Staff

A 62-year-old New York man is facing criminal charges after he allegedly spray-painted some squirrels at his Putnam County home, the SPCA announced Monday.

The county's probation department alerted animal welfare authorities to the bizarre crime after Mark Kuhn, a Patterson resident, allegedly admitted to trapping squirrels in metal cages and then coloring them "Apple Red" using a Rust-Oleum Paint + Primer spray can. Kuhn then released the animals somewhere else in town, according to the Putnam County SPCA.

Detectives and Department of Environmental Conservation police interviewed Kuhn on Saturday, Jan. 13, and he was later charged with three counts of poisoning or attempting to poison animals, which is a misdemeanor in the state of New York, as well as other violations under environmental conservation laws.

Authorities found the paint and two traps at Kuhn's property, both appeared to be covered in the red paint.

Bill Clinton and Prince Andrew are named in court documents detailing people connected to disgraced financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

A New York federal judge has ordered the release of the files as part of a lawsuit related to Epstein's associate Ghislaine Maxwell.

She is serving a 20-year jail term for crimes she committed with Epstein.

The BBC is currently reviewing the 943 pages of documents, which were released on Wednesday evening.
