Justice Department seeks 33 years in prison for ex-Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio in Jan. 6 case

Justice Department seeks 33 years in prison for ex-Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio in Jan. 6 case

The Justice Department is seeking 33 years in prison for Enrique Tarrio, the former Proud Boys leader convicted of seditious conspiracy in one of the most serious cases to emerge from attack on the U.S. Capitol, according to court documents.

The sentence, if imposed, would be by far the longest punishment that has been handed down in the massive prosecution of the riot on Jan. 6, 2021. Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes, who was convicted of seditious conspiracy in a separate case, has received the longest sentence to date — 18 years.

Tarrio, who once served as national chairman of the far-right extremist group, and three lieutenants were convicted by a Washington jury in May of conspiring to block the transfer of presidential power in the hopes of keeping Donald Trump in the White House after the Republican president lost the 2020 election.

Tarrio, who was not at the Capitol riot itself, was a top target of what has become the largest Justice Department investigation in American history. He led the neo-fascist group — known for street fights with left-wing activists — when Trump infamously told the Proud Boys to “stand back and stand by” during his first debate with Democrat Joe Biden.

Trump scraps plans to release 'irrefutable report' claiming election fraud in Georgia

Trump scraps plans to release 'irrefutable report' claiming election fraud in Georgia

Former President Donald Trump said Thursday he will no longer hold an event to present what he called an “irrefutable report” about the 2020 election in Georgia.

Trump announced the planned “major news conference” Tuesday morning, the day after he and 18 other defendants were indicted in the election interference case in Georgia.

“A Large, Complex, Detailed but Irrefutable REPORT on the Presidential Election Fraud which took place in Georgia is almost complete & will be presented by me at a major News Conference at 11:00 A.M. on Monday of next week in Bedminster, New Jersey,” Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social. “Based on the results of this CONCLUSIVE Report, all charges should be dropped against me & others — There will be a complete EXONERATION!”

But the event was never formally advised by the campaign, and Trump’s spokespeople and attorneys had also been silent about it.

Dallas cops laughed after disabled military vet was denied restroom, urinated on himself

Dallas cops laughed after disabled military vet was denied restroom, urinated on himself

Dallas’ police oversight office is investigating four officers caught on video laughing about a disabled military veteran who urinated on himself after he was denied access to a restroom at a Deep Ellum restaurant.

The Dallas veteran, Dynell Lane, told oversight members two uniformed off-duty Dallas police officers working security at Serious Pizza refused to review his medical paperwork around 2:15 a.m. June 10 after employees said he couldn’t use the restrooms.

Lane, who said he was disabled while deployed for the U.S. Army, called 911 but officers didn’t arrive in time. He said he had a urine and bowel leak issue and left the restaurant.

“The Dallas Police Department failed me,” Lane told oversight members at their monthly August meeting. “Two Dallas police officers discriminated against me and declined to assist me in bridging the gap between myself and the Serious Pizza manager.”

Milkshake Concepts, a restaurant company that owns Serious Pizza, said in a statement provided by a marketing agency that it was “aware of the unfortunate incident” between off-duty police and a patron. The statement did not address questions, including why Serious Pizza employees denied Lane access and what training the company has in place regarding customers with disabilities.

Methuen police officer arrested on child porn charge

Methuen police officer arrested on child porn charge

A Methuen police officer was arrested Tuesday for allegedly uploading child pornography to the internet.

Matthew Bistany, 51, faces one count of child pornography, according to Massachusetts State Police. He was arrested at his residence in Methuen, where police executed a search warrant.

The investigation into the matter began earlier this year. The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, part of the state police, received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tip contained information about the upload of child sexual assault material from a specific IP address, police said.

State police then connected the upload to Bistany.

“Upon learning of these allegations, Officer Matthew Bistany was immediately placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the criminal investigation and any internal investigation that is to follow,” Methuen Police Chief Scott McNamara said in a statement. “While Officer Bistany is presumed innocent until proven guilty, the Methuen Police Department condemns the officer’s conduct as alleged in the charging documents. These allegations in no way reflect upon the character and reputation of the men and women of the Methuen Police Department who stand committed to protecting children and continue to serve with distinction”

FBI arrest California police officers involved in racist text messages scandal.

A grand jury had indicted officers from Antioch and Pittsburg for a wide range of offenses, including criminal conspiracy

The FBI arrested nine current and former California police officers on Thursday as part of a major criminal investigation into racist text messages of dozens of law enforcement officials, prosecutors said.

The footage also shows the deputies surrounding another woman and grabbing her baby.

Early-morning federal raids, first reported by the Bay Area News Group, rounded up officers from Antioch and Pittsburg, two cities east of San Francisco, after they were charged in four grand jury indictments.

The arrests come after revelations that Antioch officers sent violently racist, misogynistic and anti-gay text messages between 2019 and 2022. The hateful messages emerged as part of an inquiry by federal officials and local prosecutors investigating claims of widespread civil rights violations, excessive force and falsification of records.

Rudy Giuliani pocketed $300,000 from farmers investing in anti-Biden documentary that was never made

Rudy Giuliani pocketed $300,000 from farmers investing in anti-Biden documentary that was never made, lawsuit claims

A lawsuit claims Rudy Giuliani was paid $300,000 while pitching investors on an anti-Biden film. Giuliani allegedly said it would be a "kill shot" that would sink Joe Biden's campaign.

The farmers gave $1 million but despite assurances of financial success, the movie never came out. Two farmers who plowed $1 million into a documentary that would supposedly come out before the 2020 election and expose Joe Biden and Hunter Biden's corrupt dealings in Ukraine want their money back.

In 2019, a new lawsuit alleges, California fruit-and-nut farming magnates and brothers Baldev and Kewel Munger met Tim Yale, a Republican political operative at a fundraiser. A few months later, Yale introduced them to Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City, according to the suit. By then, Giuliani was hard at work trying to dig up election-year dirt on Joe Biden in his capacity as President Trump's personal attorney.

Federal Judge Overseeing Trump D.C. Criminal Case Threatened

Federal Judge Overseeing Trump D.C. Criminal Case Threatened

A Texas woman has been charged with threatening the federal judge overseeing the criminal case in Washington that accuses former President Donald Trump of conspiring to overturn the 2020 election results.

Abigail Jo Shry allegedly called the chambers of Judge Tanya Chutkan on the US District Court of the District of Columbia and left a message Aug. 5 threatening to kill anyone who goes after the former president, according to court documents filed Aug. 11 in a federal district court in Houston.

“You are in our sights, we want to kill you,” Shry allegedly said in the message.

The voicemail also included a direct threat to kill Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas), all Democrats in Washington, and all people in the LGBTQ community, according to an affidavit from a special agent with the Department of Homeland Security that was filed with the criminal complaint.

“If Trump doesn’t get elected in 2024, we are coming to kill you, so tread lightly,” she said, finishing the threat with an expletive.
