Memphis Police Chief Deliberately Covered Up Child Sex Crimes In Her Department

The worst kind of corruption occurs among those who are set up to uphold law but secretly are covering up crimes and are actively involved in them. However, when it comes to crimes against children, it’s even more vile and abominable and that much more worthy of death. Well, Memphis Police Chief Cerelyn Davis, you know the woman whose officers beat Tyre Davis to death, was fired for deliberately covering up child sex crimes in her department.

Davis was demoted from major to lieutenant and then fired in 2008 after a city investigation found her at fault for taking “no action” on the case of a police sergeant’s husband who ultimately pleaded guilty to a federal charge of producing child pornography.

Two detectives claimed Davis had ordered them not to investigate Terrill Marion Crane after police found sexually explicit images of him with underage girls. His wife, Sgt. Tonya Crane, resigned before the department could discipline her.

Hillsborough sheriff's cadet arrested on theft charge, deputies say

Hillsborough sheriff’s cadet arrested on theft charge, deputies say

A Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office cadet was arrested Tuesday after deputies said he stole ATM money while working for a cash handling company.

Darius Barnwell, 25, was just two days into his training at the Sheriff’s Office academy when detectives were notified about some possible illegal activity prior to him starting. From Oct. 6 to Feb.6, Barnwell was employed by Loomis, a cash handling business, and delivered money to ATM vendors. Detectives determined that Barnwell removed money from his deliveries nine different times.

In each instance, he forced the ATM to balance, stopping the system from raising any red flags.

Barnwell was arrested Tuesday on a charge of grand theft of between $10,000 and $20,000. He did not appear in Hillsborough County jail records Wednesday morning.

Memphis officer took and shared photos of bloodied Tyre Nichols, documents show

Documents released Tuesday provided a scathing account of what authorities called the "blatantly unprofessional" conduct of five officers involved in the fatal police beating of Tyre Nichols during a traffic stop last month — including new revelations about how one officer took and shared pictures of the bloodied victim.

The officer, Demetrius Haley, stood over Nichols as he lay propped against a police car and took photographs, which Haley sent to other officers and a female acquaintance, according to documents released by the Tennessee Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission.

"Your on-duty conduct was unjustly, blatantly unprofessional and unbecoming for a sworn public servant," the Memphis Police Department wrote in requesting that Haley and the other officers be decertified.
