The Gen-Z’s are running circles around Trump supporters with their unique uses of TikTok to mess with Trump rallies, messing with online Trump merchandise stores, etc.
One tip my daughter gave me which seems to be working is how to respond to “what about isms”. For example when someone says “police shoot more white people than black”, my gut reaction is to point out that whites make up a far greater percentage of the population and it’s the ratio that matters”. But my daughter said to just respond with “So you agree that Police use deadly force far too often and reforms, such as defunding the police, are necessary.” Or, recently, a Trumper was trying to deflect from Trump’s taxes by asking how Joe Biden made so much money on a salary of $200,000”. Instead of arguing that Biden made legit money from speeches and pointing out that Biden’s taxes are all online, I just responded with “So you must be INCENSED about Trump paying zero-$750 in taxes.”
Last example was recently. A FB Trumpee was trying to defend Trump’s Proud Boy remarks by saying “Well, I don’t know much about the Proud Boys but I do know Antifa is burning down and looting cities.”. I forwarded a video of the Proud Boy founder—on video—demanding violence and even for Proud Boys to kill people”. I never engaged about Antifa not really being a thing, I just stated “Since violence disturbs you then I’m sure you are enraged by what the Proud Boy’s founder is calling for.” Crickets in all the above examples.

Being neurotic is not fun. What’s it like to be optimistic versus always waiting for the other shoe to drop? It must be nice.
Though I know Joe Biden is going to be prepared for tonight’s debate I still worry about the slightest gaffe because the news media will RUN with it (and ignore Trump’s far more egregious lies, gaffes, etc). I have to remind myself that anxiety does not a premonition make.
I’m recording tonight’s debate as I don’t know if I can watch it live due to my idiotic “the glass is half empty, it’s full of acid, and is coming to attack me” attitude. So I VERY MUCH appreciate those who remain optimistic and sane. You help me to remain so as well.

Joe Biden just needs to stay on message from here on out
I’m loving the shit storm that is raining down on Trump right now. But I also don’t underestimate the media in completely over blowing anything Joe Biden might say that could be seen as a “gaffe”. So as long as Joe Biden can stay on script between now and the election I think we’re in good shape.
I’ve always felt the “gaffe” label for Joe Biden was a bit overdone. Now if Joe says anything slightly awkward the press jumps on it. Things if said by anyone else wouldn’t even make the news.
Joe seems to get in trouble when speaking off the cuff, so I hope he’s being advised to keep things real but don’t go too far off script.
Regarding blaming Woodward--a reminder of how things were back then
2/3: the WHO chief stated that “there was no need for measures that unnecessarily interfere with international travel and trade”
2/29: US cases around 15. Surgeon General tells Americans masks aren’t necessary.
3/8: Fauci in an interview with CBS said there is no need for people to wear masks
With even the experts downplaying the virus, no one would have listened to the tape if Woodward had played it back then. Trump could have easily spun it to something like “That was simply a theory going around at the time. We’ve since learned more and it’s not as dangerous as we thought.” And the numbers for deaths in young people—BACK THEN—would have backed him up. The number of deaths in the US—AT THAT TIME—would have backed him up. The story would have fizzled.
The New York Times had several articles in Feb and even January that mentioned official information, not given to the public, stating the the virus more dangerous than the Trump administration was saying, no one listened. One could say “well, if Woodward had released the tape maybe they would have. It would have corroborated NY Times.”
No, they wouldn’t have. Not with our experts downplaying it. Not with the small number of cases and deaths at that time. I remember what it was like back then. No one would have listened.

Obesity and COVID outcomes
A Washington Post article today about Obesity being one of the clearest predictors of having complications from COVID-19:
“Eight months into the pandemic, obesity has turned out to be one of the clearest predictors of a difficult battle against covid-19, for reasons that may vary from person to person.”
I’ve always wondered if the high obesity rates in the US were contributing to our high death rate. When you see the rare death of a very young person who died of COVID, they are often morbidly obese. I’m not into “fat shaming” as there are many reasons people struggle with their weight in the US and I personally believe none of them are due to being slobs or “lazy”. We need to make it easier and CHEAPER to eat healthy. Make access to gyms and nutritionists part of our national healthcare. It will save us a ton of $$$ in healthcare costs as well as save lives.
