Trump housekeeper's reveal Trump makeup secrets. Bronx Color's Concealer shade BHC06

https://www.newsweek.com/trump-orange-makeup-website-crashes-bronx-colors-1475928

Switzerland-based cosmetics brand's website crashed Friday after The Washington Post claimed that it produces orange makeup apparently used by President Donald Trump.

Bronx Colors told Newsweek that the hue of concealer was "very, very hot" after a Post report Wednesday claimed that Trump's housekeepers were asked to ensure that three tubes of makeup were available in Trump's bedroom at all times. The Post said it spoke to numerous undocumented migrants employed by The Trump Organization for the piece.

The makeup brand's spokesperson said its I.T. department was "going crazy" as huge numbers of visits to the Bronx Colors website had caused it to crash.

"It's very busy at the moment," said the spokesperson, adding that it was "impossible" to know whether the Trump Organization or the White House had made direct orders for the orange concealer.

The "exact shade" of Bronx Colors' orange makeup used by Trump is "BHC06," claimed the Post reporter David Fahrenthold. At the time of writing, one tube of the concealer sells for €6.50 ($7.21).

The Washington Post reported that housekeepers were expected to ensure there were two full tubes of the concealer, and a third half-full, available in his bedroom at all times.

It added that housekeepers "regularly" had to bring Trump new shirts because the makeup left "rust-colored stains" on the collars.

The Makeup Brand (And Shade) That Stains All Of Donald Trump's Shirts
A new Washington Post report about Trump's practice of hiring undocumented immigrants reveals something else he wants covered up, too — his skin.

The report, written by Joshua Partlow and David A. Farenthold, is based on conversations the paper had with 48 people who had “worked illegally for The Trump Organization.” Amid the more jarring revelations, there’s a bit about his ... particularities.

Like, for example, wanting an exact number of Tic Tacs in his room at all times and just the right amount of Bronx Colors face makeup ― his concealer of choice.

“The same rule applied to the Bronx Colors-brand face makeup from Switzerland that Trump slathered on — two full containers, one half full — even if it meant the housekeepers had to regularly bring new shirts from the pro shop because of the rust-colored stains on the collars,” the article reads. “A special washing machine in the laundry room was reserved for his wife Melania Trump’s clothing.”

3 months after collapse, two dead remain inside new orleans hard rock hotel

Engineers work to come up with plan to shore up collapsed Hard Rock building

https://www.fox8live.com/2019/12/06/engineers-work-come-up-with-plan-shore-up-collapsed-hard-rock-building/

NEW ORLEANS, La. (WVUE) - The City of New Orleans says engineers are in the planning process to shore up the partially collapsed Hard Rock Hotel building.

It’s the first step in the process to take down the building in pieces instead of imploding it.

Mayor Latoya Cantrell and Fire Chief Tim McConnell say they feel much better about a plan to take the building down that way instead of an implosion.

Engineers both local and national are in are in New Orleans Friday. The City says they have a plan that should be finalized by next Monday or Tuesday to pick the building apart piece by piece.

Before that can happen though, Chief McConnell says the building itself has to be stabilized. He says they have identified where the shoring materials are located and they will shore up the building first and then start the next phase. All of it though must be approved by the City of New Orleans.

“Then they’ll shore that entire building up and basically it’s being stabilized and shored up not with its own components. But with the shoring system, it will ensue that it will not collapse as people go in and start tearing it down and when we get to the part where it’s safe, the first thing before it gets torn down is to get the victims out of there,” says McConnell.

Chief McConnell says they have met with the victims’ families and it will be the city’s goal to get the victims out of the building during this process.

Top cop told her deputy to act like a 'white supremacist cop.' It was caught on tape

https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/community/florida-keys/article238145954.html

The head of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office major crimes unit was relieved of her command this week following the release of an audio recording in which she is heard ordering one of her officers to pull over a black man who is a suspect in a Key West murder and act like a “white supremacist,” “neo-Nazi cop” to get information from him.

Monroe Sheriff Rick Ramsay pulled Capt. Penny Phelps from the late 2017 case in October when he became aware of the recording, which his agency turned over to defense attorneys. He also initiated an internal affairs probe into Phelps’ conduct while she headed the investigation into the so-called “tree house murder,” which happened on Nov. 17, 2017, on Stock Island.

“Several issues concerning the tree house murder case have been brought to my attention,” Ramsay said in a statement. “I immediately turned them over to my Internal Affairs Division and directed that an investigation be initiated. At this point, I am prohibited by law from discussing the details of the investigation until it is concluded.”

Phelps was removed from her post as head of the major crimes and narcotics units on Wednesday, according to paperwork released to the Miami Herald Saturday. Ramsay said it is too early in the investigation to comment on whether Phelps could lose her job.

“We have to have all the facts first,” he said Saturday, adding Phelps has been with the sheriff’s office about 18 years and makes about $110,000 a year.

Texas Republican Party Chairwoman Yolanda Waters refers to another as a "Typical Nig."

Some of Texas' top Republicans are urging a county party leader to step down after the revelation that she sent a text that included a racist slur.

By Saturday night, Galveston County Republican Party Chairwoman Yolanda Waters was facing pressure from Gov. Greg Abbott, Texas GOP Party Chairman James Dickey and Land Commissioner George P. Bush. It was the latest example of statewide Republicans moving quickly to denounce racism in their own ranks after a firestorm days ago involving a state representative complaining about his "Asian" primary challengers.

The Galveston County situation, first reported Saturday evening by the Galveston Daily News, centers on a months-old text exchange in which Waters complained to another person about her local State Republican Executive Committee member — J.T. Edwards, who is black. In the texts, she referred to him as a "Typical Nig."

Waters told the newspaper she made an "unfortunate typo" but did not elaborate on what she had meant instead, saying she could not remember. She apologized in a Facebook post to "anyone who took my typo in offense" and said she intends "to keep my position in the upcoming election."

"I am saddened and hurt that anyone believes I am 'racist' against my own people," said Waters, who identifies as "Latina/African-American."

Got family and friends in debt? Here's the best gift you can give them...no expectation of presents

https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2019/12/05/got-family-friends-debt-heres-best-gift-you-can-give-them/

Got family and friends in debt? Here’s the best gift you can give them.
This holiday season, give loved ones with financial worries peace of mind by letting them know you don’t want or expect anything.

During the holiday season a lot of people — eager to please — toss financial common sense out the window.

They shop until they drop, racking up debt.

So, I try to get them to see the light. As I often say, it’s about your presence, not the presents. This is the message I gave to a reader recently who was struggling with the guilt of not buying gifts this year. She and her husband have $62,000 in credit card debt.

This column generated a lot of comments. Here’s what some had to say about the couple deep in debt:

— “Do not allow yourself to be bullied into buying gifts. You must protect your family and your future. People who expect you to buy gifts are not your friends. And if they're your family, you need to put some distance between yourself and them.”

-------------

Then I received an email from Gisele Gauthier from Cape Cod with a message for the family and friends of folks trying to dig out of debt.

“The most precious gift anyone can give me is to take good care of themselves,” Gauthier wrote. “This includes managing their finances in a thoughtful way. I feel like the people who know and love me best want me to take care of myself and would never dream of asking me to hijack my and my children’s future by spending money I do not have.”

cops in Brooklyn say they were told by a commander that white and Asian people should be left alone

‘I Got Tired of Hunting Black and Hispanic People’
Multiple police officers in Brooklyn say they were told by a commander that white and Asian people should be left alone.

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/12/06/nyregion/nyc-police-subway-racial-profiling.html

At a police station tucked into an end-of-the-line subway terminal in South Brooklyn, the new commander instructed officers to think of white and Asian people as “soft targets” and urged them to instead go after blacks and Latinos for minor offenses like jumping the turnstile, a half-dozen officers said in sworn statements.

“You are stopping too many Russian and Chinese,” one of the officers, Daniel Perez, recalled the commander telling him earlier this decade.

Another officer, Aaron Diaz, recalled the same commander saying in 2012, “You should write more black and Hispanic people.”

The sworn statements, gathered in the last few months as part of a discrimination lawsuit, deal with a period between 2011 and 2015. But they are now emerging publicly at a time when policing in the subway has become a contentious issue, sparking protests over a crackdown on fare evasion and other low-level offenses.

The commander, Constantin Tsachas, was in charge of more than 100 officers who patrolled a swath of the subway system in Brooklyn, his first major command. Since then, he has been promoted to the second-in-command of policing the subway system throughout Brooklyn. Along the way, more than half a dozen subordinates claim, he gave them explicit directives about whom to arrest based on race.

Those subordinates recently came forward, many for the first time, providing signed affidavits to support a discrimination lawsuit brought by four black and Hispanic police officers.

Other officers described similar experiences. Some of the officers claimed in affidavits that Inspector Tsachas urged his officers to come up with reasons to stop black men, especially those with tattoos, and check them for warranthttps://www.nytimes.com/2019/12/06/nyregion/nyc-police-subway-racial-profiling.htmls.

UPS asks temp workers to use their own cars for holiday deliveries

United Parcel Service Inc. is expanding its hires of drivers using their own vehicles to help with the avalanche of holiday deliveries spawned by online shopping, and that’s rattling veteran drivers of the iconic brown van from New York to Kentucky.

Unlike competitors FedEx Corp. and Amazon.com Inc., UPS has a unionized workforce, and local Teamsters leaders aren’t happy with a trend they see as reducing opportunities for their members and hurting the UPS brand.

“They’re lowering their own standards so much,” said Vincent Perrone, president of Local 804 in New York City and Long Island, where the personal-vehicle drivers will be used for the first time this year. The local has filed a labor grievance with UPS to challenge the jobs.

UPS’s expanding use of temporary employees who use their own cars to make deliveries is stoking tension between the courier and unionized workers after a contentious battle over a new labor contract last year. One sore point: Permanent drivers worry the expanded seasonal hires will mean they’ll earn less overtime during the busiest season of the year.

Perrone foresees all kinds of complications from the flood of new workers who aren’t prepared to cope with the everyday challenges of a UPS professional.

“Where is this guy going to fit a 50-inch flat screen in the back of a Nissan Sentra?” Perrone asked.

For UPS, hiring people who can use their own cars and trucks to deliver packages is a cheap and fast way to gear up for another record holiday season
of deliveries amplified by the surge in e-commerce . The courier expects to handle an average 32 million packages a day from Nov. 29 through Dec. 30. That’s 5% more than last year, and 60% more than the rest of the year.

By hiring people who use their own vehicles, UPS avoids having to buy trucks it won’t need after the holiday rush ends, the company said.

HOW AMAZON'S ON-SITE EMERGENCY CARE ENDANGERS THE WAREHOUSE WORKERS IT'S SUPPOSED TO PROTECT

HOW AMAZON’S ON-SITE EMERGENCY CARE ENDANGERS THE WAREHOUSE WORKERS IT’S SUPPOSED TO PROTECT

EARLIER THIS YEAR, a falling object struck a worker’s head at an Amazon fulfillment center in Robbinsville, New Jersey. The worker visited Amcare, the company’s on-site medical unit, and told the emergency medical technicians on staff there that they had a headache and blurred vision — classic symptoms of a concussion. According to company protocol, Amazon’s medical staff should have sent the worker to a hospital or doctor’s office for further evaluation, or at least called a physician for advice. They did neither.

This was one of six instances at the Robbinsville fulfillment center between February and May in which staff at the Amcare clinic failed to provide adequate medical care to injured employees, according to a warning letter issued in August by the Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the federal agency responsible for workplace safety. In another incident, a worker came to the clinic with a possibly fractured finger, but Amcare medical staff failed to send them to an outside clinic for a professional opinion. A worker with an eye injury repeatedly asked to be sent to the hospital, but Amcare staff denied the requests. The next week, another worker came to the clinic four days in a row complaining of intense finger pain. According to company protocol, the clinic should have been checking on the employee every two hours. Instead, Amcare evaluated them once per day for three days without recommending outside care.

In various instances, OSHA investigators found that Amcare medical staff decided to treat the employees in-house, rather than referring them to doctors or hospitals — decisions that potentially violated New Jersey state law and federal regulations, such as OSHA’s “general duty” clause requiring employers to maintain workplaces free of hazards that put workers in danger.

This wasn’t the first time OSHA had investigated Amcare, nor was it the first time the agency alerted Amazon to problems at the clinics. “The current OSHA inspection again revealed instances indicating that the EMTs and Athletic Trainers (ATs) at AMCARE are working outside their scope of practice, without proper supervision,” regulators wrote in a warning letter to Amazon, reported here for the first time. “New Jersey state laws do not allow EMTs and ATs to practice medicine independently; a physician must supervise their work.”

An investigation by The Intercept and Type Investigations — drawing on previously unreported documents, an interview with a former OSHA medical expert, and interviews with 15 current and former Amcare employees — found multiple instances in which clinic staffers violated Amazon’s own rules as well as government regulations. The investigation found that Amcare employees nationwide were pressured to sweep injuries and medical issues under the rug at the expense of employee health.
