Can Trump be WORSE than bush?

This is in no way an endorsement of Trump or suggestion that anyone in their right mind (or even not right mind) consider voting for him; however, as I feel the potential for a Trump presidency is looming, I am forced to ask myself is it possible for him to be worse than bush?

While I knew bush was going to be bad, I never quite imagined HOW BAD he was going to be. I didn't expect him to ignore memos about attacks that lead to 9/11. I didn't expect him to start a war with Iraq.

I DID expect him to trash the economy by going back to known failed trickle down policies, but not quite to the extent that he did. To completely ignore the bubble everyone saw about to pop.. well.. he missed the memos in 8/11, so I guess it is not surprising he would miss them in 2007/08 either.

When I look at reality... I just can't think of what he could do that would be worse than what bush did and I am actually MORE afraid of some of the other candidates (Cruz, Rubio).

Again, just to stress not being as bad as the worst president to walk the earth is in NO WAY a suggestion that anyone should ever consider voting for him. I wouldn't pull the lever for him if he offered me his entire fortune (whatever that number may be)... but for some reason I am not quite as frightened as I was of bush.

What am I missing?

Anyone else finding the media just a little coo-coo bananas lately?

Bernie Sanders 5 point loss to Clinton in Nevada (despite winning the Latino vote and coming from 30-40 points behind) might mark the end of his campaign.

Marco Rubio's 10 point loss to Trump in South Carolina and him SURGING and REVITALIZED. Proving he can compete.

Clinton and Bernie are tied in delegates.

Trump has a 60 delegate lead.

But if you listen to them, it is TRUMP who has everything to lose and for Clinton it seems like clear sailing.

Text of Clinton's speech to Goldman Sachs leaked

“And so I say to you Goldman Sachs, I am on your side. Do not pay attention to the noise of the political season, I will always remember your support and put your priorities first, above all else. Thank you.’

“I remember feeling like she worked for us,” said one former Goldman Sachs employee who was at the event in Arizona in October of 2013. “Now she’s telling people what they want to hear so she can get elected. But back then it sounded to us like she was our employee.”

God has spoken!

I'm back on this site and in this party for Bernie!

It is a real shame that the message below had to be "Jury hidden"

"I will vote Bernie in the primary and if he isn't the nominee.. Green in the general election."

We are not allowed to discuss our feelings openly in the primary forums... especially when the subject was about whether to vote for Hillary in the general or not.

Bill Maher always talks about how Republicans live inside a bubble, but here I see so many democrats doing the same thing.

"If you don't vow to vote for the democratic nominee, we don't want to hear it" (HIDE THE MESSAGE!! PRETEND IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!)

Well, they better hear it because I am far FAR from alone.

I didn't vote for Bill Clinton, I didn't vote for John Kerry and I didn't vote for Barack Obama. The democratic party lost me in the 1990s b/c of the DLC.

I BRIEFLY came back to work for Howard Dean b/c I saw an opportunity to shift in the right direction and I voted for Al Gore b/c I knew in my heart he wasn't a centrist.

But "democrats" have to understand that there are millions of people who are not inspired by Hillary Clinton and won't vote for her. Many of them will just sit out (my parents are only planning on voting at all if Bernie is the nominee). I will vote, but I will vote for another party.

I honestly don't see her path to victory. She isn't going to win any of the swing states against Trump or Rubio... she may have a chance against Cruz, but Trump will DESTROY her. You know it.. I know it. THEY just don't realize it.

Okay.. rant over. Back to getting ready for Super Tuesday!

Hillary is NOT for Universal Healthcare.

She is for Universal Health INSURANCE.

There is a huge difference and I hope Sanders mentions this the next time she pulls out that ludicrous line.

A Sanders nomination just became more critical!

We NEED turnout.

Clinton can't get that done... Sanders can.

The ONLY chance to take back the Senate is with high turnout.

It's that simple.

What is Hillary's path to victory?

I am very surprised how some people don't realize that Hillary has no viable path to victory (unless *flying spaghetti monster willing* Ted Cruz is the GOP nominee.)

13 million less people went to the polls in 2012 than 2008. 10 million of those votes came out of Obama's totals.

Those people are gone, they are not coming back to vote for ANOTHER establishment candidate. They showed up in 2008 under the guise of hope and change and were disillusioned when promise after promise fell to the wayside. The moment the public option was taken off the table despite the fact that it could have been passed in reconciliation, Obama said goodbye to those 10 million people.

The establishment fatigue has just gotten worse since then. Now the bush tax cuts are permanent. The ACA remains mostly unpopular (largely b/c many people think it didn't go nearly far enough) and we remain at the mercy of insurance and drug companies.

Obama's approval rating is 43% and 70% believe the country is going in the wrong direction. (count me among them).

How on earth is she going to stir up excitement for a campaign that is basically "stay the course" and "small tweaks".

Everyone but Cruz on the GOP side will demolish her. Cruz is just so disliked by so many people he would create similar apathy among GOP voters and turnout would be VERY LOW.

So what is the path? The plan? I don't see a remote chance of her winning.

This whole thing is reminding me why I left the Democratic party 10+ years ago...

Let me start with I have luxury of living in California where it doesn't really matter who I vote for... if I lived in a swing state my ultimate votes would probably be different!

I watched it happen with Howard Dean.. up close and personal.

The democratic establishment didn't want Dean to be the nominee.. so they sent Richard Gephardt on a suicide mission in Iowa and Gephardt did nothing but run negative ads against Dean for the month leading up to the primary.

Then with a little help from the MSM and the "Dean Scream" and Dean was done we were left with a weak Iraq war voting candidate, who I didn't vote for.

Then in 2008, there simply wasn't a candidate I really could get behind. I saw 3 center right front runners (Obama, Clinton, Edwards). The one lucky thing Obama had going for him was that he wasn't in the Senate when the Iraq war vote came up, so he didn't vote for and spoke against it; however, I strongly suspect he may have voted for it (as he did for the FISA Bill) if he was in the Senate at the time.

So many of my liberal friends tried to get me on the Obama wagon and I kept warning them.. he isn't what you are making him out to be. He's not a progressive.. he's just another DLC type who will wind up giving away the things that matter most to you. I didn't vote for him in 2008 or 2012 (I voted green)

By the time 2010 rolled around, my liberal friends were done with him. He gave away the public option when he could have pushed it through and on issue after issue he was giving in when he didn't have to... they wanted him primaried as well, but no one was going to do that to the first AA president.

As of today Obama has accomplished one major thing, he took a title which Michael Moore bestowed upon Bill Clinton... Obama is now the best republican president of my lifetime.

People love to point to the numbers.. look how high the dow is, look how low gas prices are, look how low the unemployment numbers are.. but this is all a smokescreen and YOU KNOW IT. The economy isn't on solid ground and far too many people are struggling to make it paycheck to paycheck, but Clinton, in a shameless bid to secure the PoC vote is clinging to Obama's legacy.

What is sadder to me is that you all KNOW things aren't really that good. 90% of the people have insurance... so what? INSURANCE SUCKS! My wife was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma.. luckily it is curable with Chemo and even with our platinum level plan, we already have 8K worth of bills and at LEAST 3-4x that amount to come. WITH our platinum level PPO insurance, her curable cancer will cost us 50K. We're very lucky b/c I was the co-founder of a company that sold for 1 billion a couple of years ago, so don't have to worry about $$$, but could you imagine someone with "Bronze" coverage suddenly having to come up with 50K? The insurance companies still play the same games they did before. The Dr wanted a second opinion on the pathology and sent her biopsy to a second pathologist.. "not covered", so 2K on the bill. Those "out of pocket cost maximums" are BULLSHIT! They find a way to say what you are doing isn't really part of the plan so it doesn't count towards your out of pocket maximums.

So yeah... sorry to say but I can't pull the level for Clinton, because it is more of the same BS progress, giving corporations more and more control, because they rely on corporations for the majority of their money.

When the primary is over, IF Sanders is not the nominee, I will just stop posting and lose my account info again. Maybe I will be back in 4 years when we get another shot, b/c I don't think Clinton has a prayer in the general election.

Bernie COULD tear Clinton to shreds... so why doesn't he?

There are so many opportunities for Bernie to completely destroy her on the debate stage.

When talking about influence from contributions he could point out her flipped position on the bankruptcy bill after receiving donations from credit card companies.

He could point out that Dodd-Frank is basically useless because by the time you are using it, it is already too late and her waving like a flag is laughable.

I'm not talking about personal attacks... real issue attacks to point out her lies about his votes, her inconsistencies and ever "evolving" positions.

So why doesn't he?

Because Bernie Sanders is a true mensch, who most important of all wants to make sure that a democrat is elected in November and while these types of attacks may score him points.. heck, they may even tip the balance in his favor, they become republican attack ads later.

You can see it in his eyes... he is choosing what to say very carefully, not just based on getting his positions across, but also in a way to not irreparably harm the person who may be the nominee.

Clinton has no such respect or dignity. She was vicious towards Obama in 2008 and is equally so now.

If she learns nothing else from this campaign, it should be how to handle herself with real dignity.
