Face Mask Printable Pattern
On Friday, UnityPoint Health in Waterloo and Cedar Rapids released a statement asking anyone who can sew to donate their time and skills to making masks. It posted a printable pattern and a how-to video.
UnityPoint had to take down its instructions one day after posting them because of the overwhelming response.

The ignorance of the uninformed voter
In an article in the Des Moines Register about a recent poll on politicians in Iowa, two people interviewed were quoted. These are the people we are up against. They obviously aren't paying attention.
"Blake McSarling, a 34-year-old Ottumwa resident, said hes seen little about the Senate race so far but hopes Democrats nominate U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders for president. McSarling, a registered Democrat, voted for Trump in 2016 but now wonders if that was the right call.
Im looking for somebody down to earth, he said of the Senate race. Somebody whos not been in politics forever somebody whos kind of outside of it, who has goals for regular people, not just for industry.
and
The only thing I like about Joni, she stands up for what she believes in whether you like it or not, she does, said Kerri Christian, a 62-year-old poll respondent from Center Point. She is among the 20% of likely voters who say they will not definitely vote for Ernst or her Democratic competitor but are open to considering the options.
Im a registered Democrat, but that doesnt mean anything anymore, she said. You have to go with your gut. I voted for George Bush. It all depends on what you think theyre going to do for you as a community.
Christian said she is open to voting for Ernst or one of the Democrats. She is looking for someone to show they can stand up to Trump, whom she believes will be re-elected in the fall.
You have to get people in there who are willing to take him on, she said. If thats Joni, then thats Joni.
I have more to fear from a poor person voting
for Trump than a rich person contributing to the party.

Random last minutes thoughts from Des Moines
Streets are closed because Trump will speak at Drake University, in my neighborhood, tonight.
The signs in my neighbor are evenly split between Amy, Bernie, Pete, and Warren.
There's a reporter on every corner, well mostly at bars, coffee shops, and cafes.
Trump is sending 80 surrogates to Iowa next Monday.
Joe & Mica think they're cool at Java Joes. They're not and neither is Java Joes.
It seems everyone is either pandering to or pissing on Iowa.
The candidates think they have to spend 2 years here and nearly half the voters are still undecided this week. Another year wouldn't make a difference because we know any Dem is better than Trump.
As on DU, many are trying to figure out who could beat Trump in November, others are choosing candidates who best represent their political agenda, and some are trying to do both.
Polk County Democrats are incredibly organized and successful due to strong and innovative leadership and the enthusiasm generated by the multi-candidate caucuses.
I'll caucus for Warren.
