House GOP smears military veterans as anti-American in new attack ads

By Caroline Orr - October 9, 2018

Fearing an electoral bloodbath, Republicans are resorting to shameful smears and outright lies in a last-ditch effort to maintain their death grip on power.

Today’s Republican party isn’t exactly known for its civility or honesty — but if you thought the GOP couldn’t sink any lower, think again.

Apparently fearing an electoral bloodbath in November, House Republicans have released a series of ads attacking their Democratic opponents — many of whom happen to be military veterans and former intelligence officers — by questioning their patriotism, smearing them as anti-American, and even falsely labeling them as terrorist sympathizers.

The ads are funded by the National Republican Congressional Committee and the Congressional Leadership Fund, Politico reports.

In one ad, Republicans slam House candidate Jason Crow — a Colorado Democratic candidate who received a Bronze Star for heroism in the Iraq war and an award for being a “lawyer of the year” for his veterans advocacy work — by falsely claiming he “neglected” Colorado veterans.

Hey republicans if Jason Crow had died in combat,............... you fuckers would say he died as a hero.................., but when he needs our services or wants to get in Congress to protect those services from being privatized by three fucking assholes in Florida, that your traitor some how appointed to over see the agency , and you hold the purse strings....................you say go fuck yourself.........................FUCK YOU PAUL "ayn rand" RYAN, and take your James Buchanan , Mount Pelerin Society libertarian shit, back by the Koch's ...................go fuck yourself, ..............along with the orange hair traitor, and those three fucking assholes, and all 246 assholes republicans in Congress.................

Colorado Republican caught faking endorsement from Democratic governor

By Eric Boehlert - October 10, 2018

Republicans are sinking to new lows in Colorado.

In a sign of desperation, and perhaps an indication of how defensive Colorado Republicans are with just four weeks until Election Day, noted right-wing GOP candidate Tim Neville was caught suggesting the state’s Democratic governor had endorsed him this year.

Not only that, but the mailer with the false endorsement, sent out to voters in Colorado’s District 16, also seemed to contain quotes from the governor, John Hickenlooper, praising Republican incumbent Neville. But those were completely fabricated.

The stunning part is that Neville is one of the state’s most outspoken right-wing politicians, who for years has embraced a radical agenda of trying to deny Colorado women of virtually all their reproductive freedoms.

The idea that the state’s Democratic governor would back Neville this year is preposterous. But the fake endorsement is especially fantastic considering Neville is locked in a must-win state Senate race, the outcome of which could determine what party controls the Colorado Senate for the next two years.

I hope Hickenlooper comes out with an ad and calls this assholes bluff, people out west don't like LIARS.............

Colorado GOP leader whines women could bring #MeToo to his 'own backyard'

By Eric Boehlert - October 9, 2018

Republicans are doubling down on scare tactics as Democratic women look to flip the Colorado Senate.

The head of the Colorado Republican Party has warned voters that if Democrats, and specifically Democratic women, succeed in taking control of the Colorado Senate in November, they could unleash a #MeToo witch hunt in the General Assembly.

The scare tactic was unfurled as the Brett Kavanaugh Supreme Court confirmation hearings were unfolding in Washington, D.C.

“If your listeners don’t like what’s going on and they don’t like the Democrat behavior at the U.S. Senate, then they shouldn’t like it at the state Senate, either,” the GOP’s state chairman, Jeff Hays, recently announced on a local radio show.

“And if we don’t get out the vote — and if we don’t turn in our ballots and vote for Republicans, then we’re going to get more the same. But it’s going to be right in our own backyard,” the Colorado Times Recorder reported.

GOP nominee for governor revealed as author of book excusing slavery

By Caroline Orr - October 9, 2018

In addition to defending slavery, Florida Republican Ron DeSantis also railed against women's rights and anti-discrimination laws.

Ron DeSantis, the GOP nominee for governor of Florida who kicked off his campaign by hurling dog whistles at his African-American opponent, is once again under fire for making racist remarks.

This time, however, he wrote the comments in a book.

During his 2011 bid for a congressional seat in Florida, DeSantis penned a little-noticed book focused almost entirely on attacking America’s first black president, arguing that President Barack Obama’s worldview was incompatible with the U.S. Constitution.

But in between the pages taking aim at President Obama’s biracial heritage and questioning his Christianity was an even lesser known section in which DeSantis jumped headfirst into a disturbing justification of slavery.

The discovery was first reported this week by the American Ledger, an American Bridge project.

Veterans Affairs won't hand over documents showing suspected shadow influence of Trump associates

Source: Think Progress

"The reports of corruption and cronyism are serious," Rep. Tim Walz said.
JOSHUA EATON
OCT 9, 2018, 7:28 PM

The Department of Veterans Affairs won’t give Congress records that could show the undue influence friends of President Donald Trump have over agency policy, MilitaryTimes reports.

A bombshell investigation by ProPublica in August revealed that three close Trump associates — Ike Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel Entertainment; Bruce Moskowitz, who works in concierge medicine; and Marc Sherman, an attorney— have ruled the VA as unappointed, and unconfirmed, shadow officials from their base at the president’s Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida.

Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert Wilkie assured lawmakers at a hearing last month that the “Mar-a-Lago Crowd,” as it’s known within the agency, doesn’t set policy. But emails published by ProPublica tell a different story.

“The reports of corruption and cronyism are serious and we cannot allow VA to sweep this under the rug,” Rep. Tim Walz (D-MN), the ranking member on the House Veterans Affairs Committee, said in a statement to MilitaryTimes. “This issue will remain a top concern of the committee until all our questions have been answered.”

Ted Cruz chickens out of CNN town hall with Beto O'Rourke -- who'll appear on his own

TRAVIS GETTYS
09 OCT 2018 AT 14:08 ET

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) refused to participate in a CNN town hall with his Democratic opponent, Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX).

CNN will host the Oct. 18 event without Cruz, who declined an invitation to take part in the town hall at the McAllen Performing Arts Center moderated by Dana Bash.

The Cruz campaign initially accepted CNN’s invitation but later declined, according to a network official.

The network will also host debates between Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL) and Republican Gov. Rick Scott in Florida’s Senate race, and between Andrew Gillum and Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) in Florida’s gubernatorial race.

Cruz is facing a tough challenge from O’Rourke, whose campaign got a boost with a viral TV ad by film director Richard Linklater for the Fire Ted Cruz PAC.

The ad features Texas actor Sonny Carl Davis questioning why Cruz hadn’t stood up to President Donald Trump’s personal insults and instead was “kissing (his) ass.”

BUSTED: Eric Trump caught blatantly stealing Rock the Vote's registration deadline graphic

BRAD REED
09 OCT 2018 AT 14:50 ET

ric Trump on Tuesday tried to boost Republican hopes of holding onto Congress in the 2018 midterm elections by blatantly stealing a graphic used by the progressive Rock the Vote Action Fund.

Writing on Twitter, the second Trump son encouraged followers in 16 different states to register to vote by the end of Tuesday’s deadline. To illustrate his point, the second Trump son then posted a photo of a map that displayed voter registration deadlines in all 50 states.

The Rock the Vote Action Fund, however, pointed out that Trump was using their map — and they even noted that Trump went so far as to scrub their logo off his version of the map.

“We know you’re accustomed to ripping folks off, but claiming our graphic for partisan hackery when you support voter suppression & the disenfranchisement of millions is gross, even for you,” the fund wrote in response.

Kavanaugh To Hear First Arguments As Supreme Court Justice

By JESSICA GRESKO and MARK SHERMAN
October 9, 2018 6:42 am
WASHINGTON (AP) — A Supreme Court with a new conservative majority takes the bench as Brett Kavanaugh, narrowly confirmed after a bitter Senate battle, joins his new colleagues to hear his first arguments as a justice.

Kavanaugh will emerge Tuesday morning from behind the courtroom’s red velvet curtains and take his seat alongside his eight colleagues. It will be a moment that conservatives have dreamed of for decades, with five solidly conservative justices on the bench.

Kavanaugh’s predecessor, Justice Anthony Kennedy, who retired in June, was a more moderate conservative and sometimes sided with the court’s four liberal justices.

Kavanaugh, in contrast, is expected to be a more decidedly conservative vote, tilting the court right for decades and leaving Chief Justice John Roberts as the justice closest to the ideological middle.

With justices seated by seniority, President Donald Trump’s two appointees will flank the Supreme Court bench, Justice Neil Gorsuch at one end and Kavanaugh at the other. Court watchers will be looking to see whether the new justice asks questions at arguments and, if so, what he asks. There will also be those looking for any lingering signs of Kavanaugh’s heated, partisan confirmation fight. But the justices, who often highlight their efforts to work together as a collegial body, are likely to focus on the cases before them.

-snip-

As the newest member of the court Kavanaugh will take on a few special jobs. He will take notes for the justices when they meet for private conferences. He’ll also be the one to answer the door at those meetings if someone knocks to deliver something such as a justice’s coffee or forgotten glasses.

He’ll also sit on the committee that oversees the court’s cafeteria, which is open to the public. Chief Justice John Roberts has previously said that assignment is a way of bringing a new justice “back down to Earth after the excitement of confirmation and appointment.”

FUCK YOU......................maybe they can deliver a fucking beer, to sexual predator so he can feel at home.......................Fuck You Roberts and your other four lackeys......................

A despot in disguise: one man's mission to rip up democracy

James McGill Buchanan’s vision of totalitarian capitalism has infected public policy in the US. Now it’s being exported

• George Monbiot is a Guardian columnist

It’s the missing chapter: a key to understanding the politics of the past half century. To read Nancy MacLean’s new book, Democracy in Chains: The Deep History of the Radical Right’s Stealth Plan for America, is to see what was previously invisible.

The history professor’s work on the subject began by accident. In 2013 she stumbled across a deserted clapboard house on the campus of George Mason University in Virginia. It was stuffed with the unsorted archives of a man who had died that year whose name is probably unfamiliar to you: James McGill Buchanan. She says the first thing she picked up was a stack of confidential letters concerning millions of dollars transferred to the university by the billionaire Charles Koch.

Her discoveries in that house of horrors reveal how Buchanan, in collaboration with business tycoons and the institutes they founded, developed a hidden programme for suppressing democracy on behalf of the very rich. The programme is now reshaping politics, and not just in the US.

Buchanan was strongly influenced by both the neoliberalism of Friedrich Hayek and Ludwig von Mises, and the property supremacism of John C Calhoun, who argued in the first half of the 19th century that freedom consists of the absolute right to use your property (including your slaves) however you may wish; any institution that impinges on this right is an agent of oppression, exploiting men of property on behalf of the undeserving masses.

WE in this country are seeing the dynamics of his (Buchanan and his fucking associates ) BULLSHIT being played out in real time, the courts, and now with another sexual predator on the court that thinks everyone is out to get him and he is going to blame us for his past bullshit.

How the courts and the education system being fronted by the Koch's such as GMU ( George Mason University and others ) is undermining and attacking the social programs in this country and has been exported around the world. And how a orange hair sexual predator got into office by the basic concept of gerrymandering and a foreign power just enabling every neo fascist party to take down this republic, because they think the Constitution is nothing more than the paper it is written on..........toilet paper.

Mitch McConnell: Republican senators are the real assault victims

By Kaili Joy Gray - October 8, 2018

If Mitch McConnell was assaulted, where's his police report and corroborating evidence?

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell succeeded in his effort to put the credibly accused sexual predator Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court — but he can’t stop complaining.

Last week, he whined that he and his fellow Republican senators had to endure the trauma of hearing sexual assault survivors beg them not to vote for an attempted rapist. But now McConnell is upping the rhetoric — and the audacity.

“We were literally under assault,” McConnell told reporters Monday. “These demonstrators — I’m sure some of them were well meaning citizens, but many of them were obviously trained to get in our faces, to go to our homes out there, to basically almost attack us in the halls of the capitol.”

Of course, according to the standard set by McConnell, Trump, and their fellow Republicans, no assault took place unless the “victims” — Republican men of the Senate — immediately filed police reports, went to the FBI, and can provide multiple corroborating witnesses and other physical evidence.

I had to post this a day late, but I really do feel that everyday that these assholes go to work, go out to eat, anything, they should be fucking confronted and have protesters confronting these assholes. Make there life miserable, because they are making our lives miserable.........................

There are not enough "mad" emoji's to put in this thread to express my outrage.

These five right wing neo fascist libertarian justices and the libertarian senate remind me of two or five depending on there rulings by the justices are in a room raping my country while the others are outside the door waiting there turn to continue the assault on this country and its people, and now trying to make it look like they are the fucking victims, how fucking dare they..........enough is enough.................

It is about the courts, this country has always been about the courts

November 2018 cannot get here fast enough ............................vote, because if they retain power, look no further than what happened in Chile in the 1970's and the american economists that set up that constitution James Buchanan, you type in his name and if you read books Like Nancy MacLeans ..............Democracy in Chains, you can see and read how this is playing out in this country and it is not a pretty picture, and every republican in this country is using the format....................it is about the courts
