House Speaker Mike Johnson's Christian Nationalist views are alarming, and Americans need to understand more about the Republican leader who is second in the line of succession after Vice President Harris. Speaker Johnson's beliefs are far outside the mainstream, and he believes that a "depraved" America deserves God's wrath. The Louisiana congressman's beliefs are radical, even by today's MAGA party standards. Here are a few examples of Johnson's world view:

Johnson thinks the American school shooting crisis is due to the sexual revolution and teaching evolution in schools.

To say Johnson is anti-LGBTQ is an understatement. The House Speaker says same-sex marriage is a "dark harbinger of chaos," leading people to marry their pets, per NBC News.

The New York Times Is Practically Perfect In Every Way

Just ask them!

By Susie Madrak — May 7, 2024
It’s our job to cover the full range of issues that people have. At the moment, democracy is one of them. But it’s not the top one — immigration happens to be the top [of polls], and the economy and inflation is the second. Should we stop covering those things because they’re favorable to Trump and minimize them? I don’t even know how it’s supposed to work in the view of Dan Pfeiffer or the White House. We become an instrument of the Biden campaign? We turn ourselves into Xinhua News Agency or Pravda and put out a stream of stuff that’s very, very favorable to them and only write negative stories about the other side? And that would accomplish — what?

Oh boy. Where to begin?

In this Semafor interview with Ben Smith, the former Times media editor, the New York Times executive editor explains how they have to cover immigration because it's polling at the top of issues.

Trump plans Minnesota fundraiser on day of Barron's graduation: report

By Adam Nichols
Published May 7, 2024 10:04 AM ET

After weeks of complaining that his hush money trial would stop him attending his youngest son’s high school graduation, Donald Trump’s judge finally agreed to pause the trial for a day — and the ex-president swiftly organized a fundraiser.

Trump is now expected to speak at the Minnesota Republican Party’s Lincoln Reagan dinner on May 17 — the day Barron Trump graduates.

It’s not known if he will be at the graduation ceremony in Florida prior to his Minnesota appearance.

It must be warm fuzzy feeling to bring a traitor to the republican fascist show in Minnesota for some civil trial convicted wanna be dictator that has a 83.3 million dollar judgment and 475 million dollar fraudster judgement against the wanna be dictator to be at a fundraiser to pay off his judgment crimes..............and "if" he isn't at the show to kid.............don't think the court he presently is sitting will think to kindly if he doesn't show up to his kid's Koch Foundation school in Florida that teaches how to be a Heritage Foundation 2025 indoctrinate ..............

Former top prosecutor shows why Hope Hicks 'is such a devastating witness against Trump'

By David McAfee

Andrew Weissmann, the former top prosecutor on former special counsel Robert Mueller's team, explained on Friday why he thinks former Donald Trump aide Hope Hicks was such a "devastating" witness against the former president in his criminal case.

Hicks, who cried on the stand for what some experts say are "dark" reasons, testified that she didn't believe Trump's suggestion that former Trump attorney Michael Cohen paid Stormy Daniels out of the goodness of his heart. The prosecution alleges the "hush money" payment was used to affect the election in 2016.

But for Weissmann, Hicks destroyed Trump's defense for a number of reasons.

Pier pressure: more than 1,000 sea lions assemble at San Francisco dockside

By Maanvi Singh in Oakland

More than 1,000 sea lions have gathered at San Francisco’s Pier 39 this spring, the largest herd in at least 15 years.

Mounds of floppy, delightfully ungraceful marine mammals have plopped themselves on to rafts along the city’s pier, displaying themselves to the thousands of tourists who pass by the area each day.

According to the staff at the pier, the gathering this year has been attracted to a feast of anchovies in the bay. “With a steady food supply from a large school of anchovy, the sea lions are extra active!” the pier tweeted from its official account this week.

'I'm the January 6 guy': GOP candidate says he's 'running to kick in the front door'

By David Edwards

A Republican candidate from West Virginia is seeking higher office based on his participation in the attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6.

Derrick Evans told right-wing nationalist Steve Bannon that voters were flocking to him after he served 90 days in prison after pleading guilty to felony civil disorder charges. Evans is challenging Rep. Carol Miller (R-WV) in the Republican primary.

"As rich people say it, they say, hey, maybe a guy like Derrick Evans, maybe he, with his common sense, maybe he is the guy to go down and represent our real values in the nation's capital," Bannon explained.
