Trump's White House ignored advice on COVID-19 that could've saved over 130,000 lives, Birx said

Trump's COVID-19 response led to many preventable deaths, Deborah Birx told House lawmakers.
Over 130,000 lives could've been saved if Trump's White House followed the science, she said.
Birx also testified that the 2020 election distracted Trump from the pandemic.

Dr. Deborah Birx, the former White House COVID-19 response coordinator, in testimony to the House select subcommittee on the coronavirus crisis said that former President Donald Trump's approach to the pandemic led to a massive number of preventable deaths.

"No," Birx said when asked if Trump did everything in his power to curb the spread and save lives, per excerpts of her testimony released by the committee on Tuesday.

"And I've said that to the White House in general, and I believe I was very clear to the president in specifics of what I needed him to do," she added.

Birx, who testified before the committee in mid-October, said that over 130,000 lives could've been saved in the early stages of the pandemic had Trump's White House adhered to the science and pushed for measures advocated by experts.

Rep. Mo Brooks walks back claims that his staff were not involved in planning Jan. 6

Source: dailykos

Tuesday October 26, 2021 · 8:07 AM CDT

On Sunday, an article in Rolling Stone reported that both Republicans members of Congress and their staff met repeatedly with the organizers of the Jan. 6 rally to plan protests around blocking the official tallying of the Electoral College vote. On Monday, the Montgomery Advisor reported that Brooks denied helping to plan the rally, saying that he had not had any involvement in fundraising for the rally, and only showed up to speak “because the White House asked him to do so.”

In a phone interview, Brooks seemed quite sure that his hands were clean when it came to the rally and the violent and deadly assault on the Capitol that followed. "If you’re talking about someone participating in meetings, setting the agenda, raising the money,” said Brooks, “I don’t know of anything that suggests my staff as doing that stuff.”

But speaking to reporters on Monday afternoon, Brooks walked that statement back a critical distance. Speaking to CNN’s Melanie Zanona, Brooks continued to claim that he had not attended planning meetings for the event, but said, “I don’t know if my staff did ... but if they did I’d be proud of them for helping to put together a rally lawful under the First Amendment at the ellipse to protest voter fraud and election theft."

Which is certainly made more interesting by how, back in July, Brooks told Slate that he was aware there was a likelihood of violence at the rally. “As a consequence of those warnings,” said Brooks, ”I did not go to my condo. Instead, I slept on the floor of my office. And when I gave my speech at the Ellipse, I was wearing body armor.”

Josh Mandel, Ohio Senate Candidate, Believes 2020 Election Stolen From Donald Trump

Source: newsweek

By Ewan Palmer On 10/25/21 at 4:43 AM EDT

Josh Mandel, one of the six Ohio Senate candidates who appeared on stage together for the first time on Sunday night, falsely claimed that the 2020 election was "stolen from Donald J. Trump" during a debate.

Mandel, the former Ohio treasurer, was met with applause from the crowd at the event held in evangelical Genoa Baptist Church, where he and the other GOP hopefuls—State Senator Matt Dolan, author J.D. Vance, former Ohio GOP chair Jane Timken, and businessmen Mike Gibbons and Bernie Moreno—were vying for the nomination.

"You know Matt said he would've voted to certify the election," Mandel said while referring to Dolan, who is distancing himself from Trump during his campaign.

"And I need to say something that I get attacked by the media for saying this, I get attacked by my opponents for saying this, but I believe it very strongly and so I want to say it up here: I believe the election was stolen from Donald J. Trump," Mandel added.....................................

Gov. Abbott interview against vaccine mandates at University of Texas' DKR Stadium raises eyebrows

Gov. Abbott interview against vaccine mandates at University of Texas' DKR Stadium raises eyebrows

https://www.chron.com/politics/article/Gov-Greg-Abbott-anti-vaccine-mandate-interview-16552237.php

Updated: Oct. 21, 2021 4:10 p.m.

Gov. Greg Abbott recently had an interview with alt-right website Breitbart at DKR Stadium in Austin.

..............................

According to Breitbart's website, the interview was filmed before the Texas vs. Oklahoma State football game on Oct. 16. In the interview, Abbott also chanted an anti-Biden slogan "Let's go Brandon" and said it's caught on because of the president's "disastrous policies" on the coronavirus pandemic.

“People are angry. People who come to these stadiums, who want to gather and celebrate a great American tradition like college football, and you have Joe Biden trying to shut things down and shut people out and you got [Anthony] Fauci saying you got to stay home until Christmas or whenever — and it’s just ludicrous the policies that Joe Biden is advancing," Abbott told Breitbart.

Reaction to the video was swift online, as current and former University of Texas at students quickly recognized the empty stands of the famous University of Texas at Austin stadium in the background. Some fans questioned why the governor was allowed to film an interview about vaccine mandates there. The university does not have a vaccine mandate in keeping with Abbott's order, according to its website.

Surgeon General asked to leave Tina Polsky's office after refusing to wear mask

Source: Florida Politics

Florida’s top public health official was asked to leave a state Senator’s office this week after refusing to don a mask in her office.

Sen. Tina Polsky, who was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer in August, asked state Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo and his two legislative aides to leave her office after Ladapo refused to comply with her request to put on a mask.

“I told him I had a serious medical condition,” said Polsky, who will begin radiation therapy treatment for cancer next week.

Polsky said that Ladapo had requested to meet with her in Tallahassee this week; he was making the rounds visiting several Senators who will be asked in the upcoming Session to confirm him.

Polsky said he offered to go outside when she asked him to put the mask on, but she declined.

“I don’t want to go outside,” Polsky said she told Ladapo after he made the offer. “I want you to sit in my office and talk to you.”

By Kelly Mena, CNN - Yesterday 8:09 PM

A week after the 2020 election, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick announced that he was offering up to $1 million -- paid from his campaign account -- "to incentivize, encourage and reward people to come forward and report voter fraud."

Nearly a year later, Patrick, a Republican, has paid out his first reward: $25,000 to a Democrat in Pennsylvania, who reported a man for voting twice.

Eric Frank, a poll worker, received the money earlier this month for his part in reporting Ralph Holloway Thurman, a Republican who after voting once, attempted to vote a second time as his son, as first reported by the Dallas Morning News.

................

..................

Frank reported Thurman after he recognized the 72-year-old came back and attempted to vote again with a "dark baseball hat and Ray Ban sunglasses." Thurman pleaded guilty and was sentenced in September to three years probation, according to court documents. Frank noted he wasn't supposed to be at the polls the day of the election but was asked to fill in last minute by his father, an election judge.

"It was just ironic -- it's my opinion that (Patrick) put up, they put out this bounty to try to find Democrats committing voter fraud. And in fact, it was the complete opposite of what their intentions were," Frank said......................................................................................

Nevada 'voter fraud' case hyped by Trump campaign exposed as criminal hoax by prosecutors

Source: raw story

October 21, 2021

A poll worker places vote-by-mail ballots into a ballot box at the Miami-Dade Election Department headquarters on October 14, 2020 (AFP)

On Thursday, The Nevada Independent reported that Donald Hartle, who last year alleged that his deceased wife's ballot was fraudulently cast, has been charged with voter fraud by prosecutors for allegedly casting that ballot himself.

"At a November press conference, Matt Schlapp, chairman of the American Consevative Union, named Rosemarie Hartle as one example of the 'hundreds of dead people' he said had voted in the election in Clark County. The Nevada Republican Party also cited Hartle's interview with KLAS Channel 8 in their voter fraud allegations," reported Megan Messerly. "Hartle told the TV station, which first reported the lawsuit, that his wife died at 52 from breast cancer in 2017 and that no ballot ever came to his house, despite a ballot for her being issued and received by the county. 'That is pretty sickening to me to be honest with you,' Kirk told the TV station at the time."

According to prosecutors, however, Hartle himself was the one who illegally submitted his wife's ballot. He has been charged with two D felonies and faces up to four years in prison for each count if convicted...............................
