Question on Face the Nation this morning: Will there be a revolution?

Mark Halperin said, if Bernie is the nominee, if people turn out to vote for him in the general, there will be a revolution. He will have coattails

(not exact words, but close enough.)

Inasmuch as this is similar to what I have been posting, I admire Mark Halperin's perception on this point.

What Halperin did not say, but what I think is implied by his response--and certainly what I believe: If Hillary is the nominee, no coattails. Just not enough enthusiasm.

October 14, 2015 fundraiser in L.A. (yes, L.A. again):

I think admission may have been $25. Either that or there was a fundraiser before a rally. Sorry, I am not clear on this.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=profile&uid=176002 (KOS story about a fundraiser).

My politics buddy went to a party afterward at a private home in Beverly Hills, where the suggested donation was $250 per person. I don't know if more than one "after party" was held. He has not filled me in yet.

I am not sure where this video picks up. I'm looking for a better one.

Yeah, I guess I have to settle for Sanders, too, no matter how hard the plutocrats/msm/DNC are pushing for Hillary. I can't. No, I can't.

I care who wins the primary and Americans. I don't care who won the debates or the polls.

IMO, Senator Sanders and his supporters have always had their work cut out for them and they still do. The first task is to get the name and positions of Senator Sanders before as many people as possible. The next is to make sure they are registered to vote in the Democratic primary. The third is persuade them to vote for Senator Sanders in the primary.

The task is harder than ever before. Arrayed against him/us are the plutocrats, the DNC, the media, etc. Comparisons to Obama are invalid because Obama had behind him people like Reid, Pelosi, Kennedy, Daschle, Kerry, et al and therefore the media (at least as far as the Democratic primary).

While I wish that posting on message board could do the job, it won't. It's a hobby and/or an addiction, not activism. Even attending debate parties with other Sanders Supporters isn't going to get the job done.

We have to call and email everyone we know and invite them to ask us questions. We have to get out in the real world and pass out leaflets, campaign buttons, voter registration forms, etc. Some sources for leaflets are in replies on this thread: http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1280&pid=63830

Marym625's Bernie Group wrote this one themselves and another DUer did the Spanish translation: http://www.democraticunderground.com/

Back to the polls and pundits. There is no poll, no pundit, nothing that is going to change my support for Senator Sanders or change the reality of anything in this post. We may enjoy discussing those things on DU, but that's about it. IMO, further discussion is highly unlikely to change a single vote on DU. If it's fun for you, great for you. I am not trying to make anyone's life joyless. But, again, our work is cut for us. Some of it can be done on reddit, facebook and twitter. Most of it has to be done away from a keyboard.

It's Sanders Saturday at least one day in every week. Go for it!

What do political terms even mean anymore?

During last night's debate, Hillary said she is a moderate and she also said she is a progressive. So, there goes the meaning of "progressive." Later, Chafee said there was no longer room in the Republican Party "for a liberal moderate Republican," so there goes the meaning of "liberal."

See also http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x2739138 (DLC now calling itself moderate, not centrist: post of madfloridian on DU2)

and, from Al From's book, The New Democrats and the Return to Power via a recent post of madfloridian http://www.democraticunderground.com/10027191121:

Coming from the center-left of the party, I was tired of having the DLC labeled as conservative. I decided to call our think tank the Progressive Policy Institute because I thought it would be harder for reporters to label it as the “conservative Progressive Policy Institute."

Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.

Democracy's coming through a hole in the air,
from those nights in Tiananmen Square.
It's coming from the feel
that this ain't exactly real,
or it's real, but it ain't exactly there.
From the wars against disorder,
from the sirens night and day,
from the fires of the homeless,
from the ashes of the gay:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.

t's coming through a crack in the wall;
on a visionary flood of alcohol;
from the staggering account
of the Sermon on the Mount
which I don't pretend to understand at all.
It's coming from the silence
on the dock of the bay,
from the brave, the bold, the battered
heart of Chevrolet:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.

It's coming from the sorrow in the street,
the holy places where the races meet;
from the homicidal bitchin'
that goes down in every kitchen
to determine who will serve and who will eat.
From the wells of disappointment
where the women kneel to pray
for the grace of God in the desert here
and the desert far away:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.

Sail on, sail on
O mighty Ship of State!
To the Shores of Need
Past the Reefs of Greed
Through the Squalls of Hate
Sail on, sail on, sail on, sail on.

It's coming to America first,
the cradle of the best and of the worst.
It's here they got the range
and the machinery for change
and it's here they got the spiritual thirst.
It's here the family's broken
and it's here the lonely say
that the heart has got to open
in a fundamental way:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.

It's coming from the women and the men.
O baby, we'll be making love again.
We'll be going down so deep
the river's going to weep,
and the mountain's going to shout Amen!
Democracy Lyrics
Leonard Cohen

It's coming like the tidal flood
beneath the lunar sway,
imperial, mysterious,
in amorous array:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.

Sail on, sail on ...

I'm sentimental, if you know what I mean
I love the country but I can't stand the scene.
And I'm neither left or right
I'm just staying home tonight,
getting lost in that hopeless little screen.
But I'm stubborn as those garbage bags
that Time cannot decay,
I'm junk but I'm still holding up
this little wild bouquet:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.

OMG! DWS on Andrea Mitchell

In talking about whether Biden will enter the race, DWS tells Andrea Mitchell, "Obviously, as chair of the Party, I'm neutral."

Neutral?

Maybe, as between Biden and Clinton, DWS is neutral. She has not been neutral as between Hillary and those who have already announced, that's for sure.

DWS also denied Tulsi Gabbard's claim of having been excluded from the DNC. DWS said that Gabbard had been told to focus on issues and Gabbard had insisted focusing on process instead of issues. Mitchell again asked DWS if Gabbard had been disinvited, whereupon DWS essentially repeated herself without answering the question--something she has often done during interviews--saying her staff had told Gabbard's staff that Gabbard had to focus on issues. She said Gabbard herself had mentioned yesterday during an interview that she (Gabbard) would only have been a distraction if she attended.... and that's why Gabbard wasn't attending.

Except that Gabbard is attending with the tickets Sanders is giving her. So, as so often happens, DWS's story--such as it is-- is not holding water.

ETA: Gabbard just on MSNBC saying she had been given an interview on MSNBC, expressing her opinion that more debates were desirable and, the next day, she got a message saying that, if that is how she felt, she should not attend the debate.

My politics buddy will be meeting Senator Sanders!

I have a friend who moved from Boston to California some years ago. He and I have kept up our political conversations by phone, especially on election nights.

He says he is very liberal, but speaks just like a sensible woodchuck. He still thinks he will vote for Hillary in the primary. However, he once said he "might send Sanders some money, though." (I sure hope I had something to do with that--I forgot to ask.)

Yadda, yadda, tonight, he emailed me that the Sanders campaign invited him to a fundraising party in a private home and Sanders will be there.

I can't wait to hear my buddy's report! Unless we're talking politics, he is a man of very few words, but I will try to wring as much out of him as I possibly can and post it after the event.

I am so excited!
