An arrest on gun possession charges in Queens, New York, in November 2021 has led the Federal Bureau of Investigation to a pedophilic, Satanist extortion cult that has victimized dozens if not hundreds of minors, according to law enforcement documents, court records and sources with knowledge of the investigation.
Law enforcement discovered the organization, known as 764 and a range of aliases, while investigating alarming social media posts made by Angel Almeida, a 23-year-old resident of Astoria, Queens.
On 12 September 2023, the FBI issued a public warning about 764, noting the group is “deliberately targeting minor victims on publicly available messaging platforms to extort them into recording or livestreaming acts of self-harm and producing child sexual abuse material”. The advisory is the first formal mention of 764 by any American law enforcement agency.
The group appears to target children between the ages of eight and 17, the advisory notes, and particularly focuses on young people of color, youth identifying as LGBTQ+ or youth who struggle with mental health issues. Researchers familiar with 764 indicate the group’s members cultivate ties with minors through a wide range of platforms: either in wildly popular games like Roblox or gaming communications platforms like Discord and Twitch, as well as curated playlists on the streaming service SoundCloud. The group’s main form of communication is on Telegram, which has long been the platform of choice for many far-right extremists.

Authorities rescue nearly 100 goldendoodles from Iowa puppy mill
Iowa authorities rescued nearly 100 dogs from a puppy mill over the weekend, many of whom were living in their own excrement.
On Friday, a deputy from the Boone county sheriff’s office was conducting a welfare check on a missing woman and came across what appeared to be a puppy mill, the sheriff’s office said in a press release.
Local outlets reported that the missing woman, Sara Stanfield, was connected to the Paris Puppies Paradise facility, which breeds goldendoodles, according to its website. The sheriff’s office has not disclosed the extent of Stanfield’s involvement in the puppy mill’s condition.
Puppy mills are high-volume breeding facilities that produce puppies for profit and disregard the needs of the puppies and their mothers, according to the Humane Society. Animals in puppy mills are treated as cash crops and are often trapped in overcrowded cages with minimal shelter from extreme weather and forced to sit and sleep in their own excrement, said the non-profit Paws.
Many suffer from malnutrition or starvation as a result of inadequate or unsanitary food and water while adult animals are bred until they can no longer produce before being destroyed or discarded, added Paws.

AOC accuses Republicans of fabricating evidence in Biden impeachment
Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez prompted three Republican witnesses to directly concede they had no first-hand knowledge of criminal actions by Joe Biden in a dramatic moment during a Republican-led impeachment hearing into the president on Thursday.
The New York Democrat also accused Republicans of presenting a fabricated text message between Jim and Hunter Biden – the president’s brother and son, respectively – that she pointed out omitted critical context. Representative Byron Donalds of Florida displayed a selectively edited exchange between the two in the format of iMessages, which was not how the committee originally received the communication.
Thursday’s hearing was the latest step in a months-long effort investigating the president and his son Hunter’s business dealings that has yet to turn up substantial evidence of wrongdoing.
The impeachment inquiry appears to be a thinly veiled effort to try and muddy the waters as Donald Trump, who leads the Republican primary field, faces four different criminal cases. The hearing was at times chaotic for Republicans, who struggled to establish what evidence they were putting forth for investigating Biden.
Despite investigating Biden for months, Republicans on Thursday largely focused on the financial dealings by Hunter Biden, using innuendos and the suggestion of potential criminal activity to recommend that further investigation was necessary. The strategy appeared to be to lay the groundwork to justify a longer fishing expedition.

Black Dinner Party Guests Share Videos of Shocking Hose-Down
A group of prominent Black professionals who were allegedly hosed down at a Saturday night garden party by a white neighbor—a story first reported by The Daily Beast—have released video of the shocking incident and its aftermath.
In the one-minute clip, streams of water can be seen arcing over the picket fence separating the backyards belonging to Dr. Yves Duroseau and his wife Claude, who are Haitian-American, and Marcus Rosebrock, a German national who lives adjacent to their property in New York City’s Forest Hills neighborhood. About 15 revelers had gathered for a sit-down dinner last September to fête Rosevony Duroseau, Yves’ sister, on her 47th birthday.
“I’m videotaping the neighbor throwing water on everyone at Rose’s party,” the woman behind the camera can be heard saying as the horrified guests try to avoid getting soaked. “I am videotaping Rose’s neighbor throwing water on us.”
“That’s crazy!” says another. “He’s trying to fight!”
As the water pressure appears to intensify, someone shouts to the unseen provocateur, “We’re calling the cops!”

Gaetz and McCarthy's Infighting Reaches New Levels of Stupid
With a government shutdown just two days away, Republicans in the House gathered behind closed doors Thursday to hammer out their divisions and reach a consensus to avert crisis.
At least, that was the plan before Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) blew up a House GOP conference meeting to instead demand an answer to his No. 1 question: Is Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) paying people to troll me on the internet?
Conservative influencers have been seen attempting to promote their negative media campaign against Gaetz, and there’s been a suggestion that McCarthy and his allies are behind it. But when aggressively questioned in a conference meeting Thursday, the speaker maintained he had nothing to do with the trolling.
“I asked McCarthy direct question: Were you out there paying for people to try to create a false negative sentiment about me online?” Gaetz told The Hill. “And his non sequitur retort was that he was giving out two and a half million dollars to other Republicans at breakfast.”
McCarthy has denied any involvement with the social media campaign and reportedly told Gaetz he’s not worth the time or money anyway.

Missouri woman mistakenly declared dead in 2007 still trying to prove she's alive
Sixteen years ago, Madeline-Michelle Carthen was preparing for a summer internship in Ghana after she was accepted into Webster University's intern exchange program when she received shocking news: her Social Security number was associated with a deceased person.
"I laughed," Carthen, from St. Louis, Missouri, who was at the time was named Madeline Coburn, said in a phone call Tuesday. She added that at the time she initially dismissed it as a simple mistake. "I said, ‘What do you mean? I’m sitting right here. I’ve been at school over a year and a half. … How am I dead? Is this going to affect my international internship?’"
The mistake wasn't a simple fix and cost Carthen, now 52, her livelihood. She had to withdraw from school and over the years has been fired from jobs and kicked out of her home — all because on paper it says she died in 2007.
"I just know I'm alive. I don't care what A.I. says or software says, but I'm alive," she said. "But it's hard to prove that."

First evidence of spinning black hole detected by scientists
Astronomers have captured the first image showing a powerful jet being launched from the edge of a black hole’s event horizon into intergalactic space.
The observations of the black hole at the centre of the galaxy Messier 87 (M87) could help reveal how black hole jets, which are among the brightest objects in the universe, are created.
“We know that jets are ejected from the region surrounding black holes, but we still do not fully understand how this actually happens,” said Dr Ru-Sen Lu, the lead author of the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory.
“To study this directly we need to observe the origin of the jet as close as possible to the black hole.”
Most galaxies harbour a supermassive black hole at their centre and these objects act as galactic sinkholes, permanently swallowing anything that drifts over their event horizon. Many black holes also launch powerful jets of matter from their poles at close to the speed of light.
The latest observations were made in 2018 with telescopes from the Global Millimetre VLBI Array (GMVA), the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) and the Greenland Telescope (GLT).

The Palmetto State Armory retail outlet in Summerville, South Carolina, did not only have a Glock semi-automatic pistol inscribed with his name and likeness. The company itself has a history of capitalizing on the crazy core of Trumpism: insurrection and racial conflict and disrespect for democracy.
Palmetto State Armory manufactured the assault rifle that a racist gunman decorated with two white swastikas before he used it to murder three Black people at a Dollar General Store in Jacksonville, Florida, late last month. But that could have just as easily been Smith & Wesson or Bushmaster or Daniel Defense.
Only Palmetto State Armory has painted a whole line of assault weapons in the style of an Hawaiian shirt, the unofficial uniform of the Boogaloo Boys, a militant movement that calls for the violent overthrow of the federal government accompanied by a racial civil war.

Federal terrorism watchlist is illegal, unfairly targets Muslims, lawsuit says
The Council on American-Islamic Relations is suing the U.S. government over its terrorism watchlist, claiming it disproportionately and unfairly targets Muslim Americans.
The suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Massachusetts on behalf of 12 Muslim American plaintiffs around the country, seeks not only to remove their names from the Federal Terrorist Screening Dataset but asks the court to declare it unconstitutional.
“Twenty years later, there is not a shred of credible evidence that the unconstitutional watch-listing of American Muslims has made America even the slightest bit safer,” said Amy Doukoure, staff attorney for the council’s Michigan chapter, which filed the suit along with CAIR’s national office and multiple other chapters.
he suit names 29 federal agencies as defendants and describes the plaintiffs as law-abiding Muslim American citizens, lawful permanent residents and asylees.
“They work hard, pay their taxes, pursue their education, and care for their families,” the suit reads. “They have never been indicted, charged, or convicted of any terrorism-related offense. And yet, without any notice or explanation, the federal government extrajudicially sentenced them to lifetime second-class citizenship.”

I tend to agree. How many of you have or know Muslim doctors, lawyers, other professionals, or just hard-working people? Maybe small businesspeople, housewives, teachers, whatever, going about their own business and being good citizens, just like every other immigrant?
CVS apologizes, but pharmacists to walk out again over unsafe workplace
Less than a week after a walkout disrupted the nation’s largest retail pharmacy chain – and after a flurry of memos, meetings and a written apology from a company president – CVS pharmacists plan another walkout today over working conditions they say imperil patient safety.
After shuttering as many as 22 stores in the Kansas City area last week, organizers had planned a repeat this week and asked other pharmacists across the nation to join them.
CVS executives scrambled to Kansas City over the weekend in an attempt to avert that scenario. They met with pharmacists and pharmacy staff at several metro area locations. Those talks culminated in a meeting with walkout organizers late Tuesday, both sides confirmed to USA TODAY.
Hours later, Prem Shah, CVS’ chief pharmacy officer and president of pharmacy and consumer wellness, issued a memo to Kansas City staff apologizing for failing to address their concerns sooner and promising a series of measures to alleviate their concerns.

Same thing happened here at Kroger (Harrisonburg, VA) and the head pharmacist finally quit. Everyone else walked out in solidarity and the place was in an uproar for months. Customers also left in droves.
