Black Dinner Party Guests Share Videos of Shocking Hose-Down

A group of prominent Black professionals who were allegedly hosed down at a Saturday night garden party by a white neighbor—a story first reported by The Daily Beast—have released video of the shocking incident and its aftermath.

In the one-minute clip, streams of water can be seen arcing over the picket fence separating the backyards belonging to Dr. Yves Duroseau and his wife Claude, who are Haitian-American, and Marcus Rosebrock, a German national who lives adjacent to their property in New York City’s Forest Hills neighborhood. About 15 revelers had gathered for a sit-down dinner last September to fête Rosevony Duroseau, Yves’ sister, on her 47th birthday.

“I’m videotaping the neighbor throwing water on everyone at Rose’s party,” the woman behind the camera can be heard saying as the horrified guests try to avoid getting soaked. “I am videotaping Rose’s neighbor throwing water on us.”

“That’s crazy!” says another. “He’s trying to fight!”

As the water pressure appears to intensify, someone shouts to the unseen provocateur, “We’re calling the cops!”

The German - who denies racism - said: 'I'm getting death threats over the phone. They [his kids] are already scared, we had to let them know what was going on because there are a lot of black families in the area, but it is not like that.

'We had to inform the school too, I'm a class parent and I volunteer at the school but we had to tell them because rumors spread. There is still much more to be discovered about what happened, but I can't say any more because my attorney told me not to.'

One of the expletive-laden threats seen by DailyMail.com contained derogatory remarks about Rosebrock's nationality.

He now fears he could lose the home he shares with his wife and children amidst the furor and has since been seen installing additionally security cameras.

He said: 'This has already destroyed us. They are trying to take away everything I own. My kids could end up on the street, I could end up losing this house. They believe were are loaded, but we are not. I have not worked for the last 10 years I have been at home taking care of the kids.'

If this were a constant thing, or something going on at 3 a.m., I could understand frustration at people getting loud. But a one-off? Nope.

And to turn the hose on them, rather than calling the cops (if you thought they were being too rowdy) or turning on a fan or turning up your TV?

No call for the hose. Whatsoever. I don't care what they may have called you (and I bet the insults didn't start with the partygoers). You don't turn a hose on people for having an outdoor dinner party. I seriously doubt he would have done that to a white family having a party.

So I don't care if you're now paying a price for being stupid and bigoted.

What a swamp of comments!

I think the ones that sounded the most incosiderate were the "time to shut it down" crowd. Maybe it's having lived near night trains with loud horns, but I take responsibility for my own sleeping conditions.

I regularly use a white noise generator, which is no harder to get accuatomed to than an electric fan (in fact, a fan can be used in lieu of a purpose-built product if it doesn't make one too cold to sleep.) They are obtainable from a multiplicity of sources, but I get mine from Chewy, because I like the way Chewy does business, Chewy's model runs about $26 plus shipping unless one qualifies for free shippping, which isn't that difficult. You can pay less - the cheapest I found at DuckDuckGo was a bit under $10.

Of course Chewy sells them for pet parents whose furbabies get spooked by loud noises such as fireworks, and in my experience even a low quality one will mask even gunshots. Here's the link to the model I use, since Chewy's only drawback is that their search function isn't very smart:

Of course, I assume anyone who prefers to spend life resenting neighbors for living and screaming at them or otherwise expressing displeasure will no doubt continue to do so. But I prefer not to be an a$$hole.
