RandySF's JournalI just saw Doug Jones on MSNBC talking about Georgia.
Great guy, great candidate and great senator. It's a shame Alabama is too damn Republican to care.
GA-SEN: Georgia Voters Brace for Long Lines and Wet Weather
The resolve of Georgia voters could again be tested in Tuesdays Senate runoff, with some county officials seeking to manage expectations about wait times to vote, which they said could be significant.
Wait times during early, in-person voting were indeed significant: Some Georgians, especially those in the Atlanta area, waited more than two hours to cast ballots in the nationally-watched contest between Senator Raphael Warnock, a Democrat, and his Republican challenger, Herschel Walker.
Both candidates are focused on turning out voters on Tuesday after an early voting period that was cut roughly in half by a new state law passed last year. But the potential for long waits could be an even greater factor, given the weather forecast for Tuesday: a 70 percent chance of rain in Atlanta, according to the National Weather Service.
We do anticipate lines, Jessica Corbitt-Dominguez, a spokeswoman for Fulton County, which includes Atlanta, said in an email on Monday. Elderly voters who are unable to wait in lines should see a poll worker.

WI-SD08: Rep. Janel Brandtjen, barred from closed caucus meetings, running for state Senate
State Rep. Janel Brandtjen, who last month was barred from attending closed caucus meetings with her fellow Assembly Republicans, is running for a recently vacated state Senate seat.
Brandtjen, R-Menomonee Falls, announced Monday she plans to run for the seat previously held by Sen. Alberta Darling, R-River Hills, to "continue to fight for the principles that every American shares."
"No one has fought harder for Life, Second Amendment rights, keeping your family safe and allowing every family to send their children to a great school," Brandtjen said, adding that her decision to run comes after "long hours of consulting with my family, friends and countless political allies."
Darling announced last month she would be stepping down from the Legislature after 32 years in office. She was first elected to the state Assembly in a May 1990 special election and was reelected in November 1990 before being elected to the Senate in 1992. Darling said she authored more than 200 bills that eventually became law.
Gov. Tony Evers on Friday ordered that the special election to fill the 8th Senate District seat will coincide with the April 4 spring election, which also includes several local races and a high-stakes race for the Wisconsin Supreme Court that will determine whether conservatives or liberals hold a crucial majority on the state's high court. Four candidates, two liberals and two conservatives, are running for the state Supreme Court seat.

GA-SEN: 538 podcast talks runoff with Georgia reporters
https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/politics-podcast-warnock-has-the-edge-in-a-close-race/GA-SEN: Warnock leads Walker in final InsiderAdvantage/FOX 5 poll heading into runoff
ATLANTA - The latest InsiderAdvantage/FOX 5 survey shows U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) with a three percent lead over Republican challenger Herschel Walker heading into the runoff election.
The poll, which was conducted on Dec. 4 with 750 likely voters, had Warnock at 51% to Walker's 48% and roughly 1% with no opinion/undecided. The poll has a margin of error of 3.6%.
"Walker trails Warnock by three points in our survey, which is within the margin of error. Warnock leads among early votes cast by over sixty percent. That means that turnout on Tuesday will have to be unusually high for Walker to win," said InsiderAdvantage Chairman Matt Towery. "Warnock and groups supporting him have continued their numerous personal attacks on Walker, which eroded Walkers support among female voters. The Walker campaign has countered with similar ads concerning Warnock, but they have had limited resources and less support from outside organizations."

Stromboli volcano erupts in Italy, forces school closures
Schools in parts of Italy were closed on Monday after a volcano on the Sicilian island of Stromboli erupted.
The eruption on Sunday caused an explosion and set off alarm sirens on the island.
The violent explosion, filmed by a camera from the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), sent clouds of ash into the air and into the sea.
The INGV said they also registered a 4.6 magnitute earthquake early morning on Sunday in the sea the Aeolian island archipelago, of which Stromboli is included.
The Coast Guard is monitoring the flow of lava and ash into the sea to ensure ports on the island remain safe and open.

State Republicans pleaded with Trump not to hold an in-person rally, armed with polling data showing that he could do more harm than good. But Walker's campaign now welcomes Trump's virtual rally as Democrats built an early-voting edge. #gapol #gasen
