RandySF's JournalKaine May Give Democrats an Edge in Swing-State Virginia
Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine's name on the Democratic ticket can realistically nudge the pivotal state closer into Hillary Clinton's column no small feat in a contest of two presidential nominees that engender strong feelings by themselves.
Kaine's rise through Richmond city politics and tenure in state government gives the party disproportionate pull, specifically in the politically dynamic capital city metro area.
And while Clinton's aides try to downplay his potential impact on the must-win state, strategists in both parties say Kaine can put Virginia out of Republican Donald Trump's reach in the race for 270 Electoral College votes.
"Tim Kaine is an example of putting someone on the ticket that will impact their home state," Virginia Republican strategist Chris Jankowski said. "Putting him on the ticket turns Virginia from a true, toss-up state to one that leans Democratic."
The vice presidential nomination hasn't made the difference in the election outcome in decades. But Virginia has become one of the most competitive states over the past four elections after 30 years as reliably Republican.

Trump Isn’t Into Anal, Melania Never Poops, And Other Things He Told Howard Stern
Donald Trump has made several memorable appearances on The Howard Stern Show, where he is often at his most candid and crude.
Trump told Stern in 2004 he is not a fan of anal sex.
In a separate 2004 appearance, Trump engaged in an especially peculiar conversation about his girlfriend Melania (now his wife), saying he had never witnessed her pass gas or defecate.
In yet another Stern show, Trump said dating was dangerous because of women with sexually transmitted infections. He compared it to the Vietnam War.

Is it wrong to wish for hardening arteries? Just asking.

Probably the most important episode discusses their model, the differences between the forecasts the state of the presidential race coming out of the two conventions. Some important points:
1. Hillary's bump appears to be standard while Trump's is smaller than average.
2. The polls-plus forecast is more meaningful during the conventions. Afterwards, there should not be much difference between it and polls-only.
3. Voter enthusiasm makes no difference when a vote is cast. It's still a vote.
4. While they recommend waiting three weeks to get a true read on the race, if Hillary's lead stretches to 10 points this week, Trump is in Trouble.
Donald Trump Would Expect Ivanka To Find New Career If She Were Sexually Harassed At Work
WASHINGTON― Multiple female Fox News employees have offered detailed, horrifying accounts of sexual abuse by former Fox chief Roger Ailes. But Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump remains skeptical of their allegations, and said last week that if his daughter Ivanka were sexually harassed at work in the way these women describe, he hopes she would simply find another job.
I would like to think she would find another career or find another company if that was the case, he told USA Today columnist Kirsten Powers in a phone interview.
Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson filed a lawsuit against Ailes in July, claiming that he made sexual advances toward her and then when she resisted he retaliated by cutting her salary and on-air appearances and eventually terminating her contract. Since Carlson came forward, several more women have accused Ailes of harassment, including one booker for the conservative cable network who described his years of sexual abuse as psychological torture. Ailes resigned following the allegations, but he continues to deny them.
Trump told NBCs Chuck Todd last week that its very sad the women are complaining about Ailes, who he called a good person and very talented.
I can tell you that some of the woman that are complaining, I know how much hes helped them. And even recently, Trump said. And when they write books that are fairly recently released, and they say wonderful things about him. And now, all of a sudden, theyre saying these horrible things about him. Its very sad.
