Tom Brokaw: Romney was not so "brilliant" at Bain Capital

Tuesday night as we awaited the Super Tuesday results, former NBC anchor made a remark that called into question Romney's business brilliance. An acquaintance informed Brokaw that Romney did well when all the details were already smoothed out, but if there was any wrinkle, that brilliance disappeared. No one else has commented on that yet and I am still looking for a link. Does anyone else remember it?

If this is indeed true, it would be an opportunity for Obama, or surrogates to take apart what is supposed to be Willard's supposed strength.

Always in a red state: 9-Year-Old Girl Stabs Grandmother Over TV

FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) — Florence police say a 9-year-old girl stabbed her grandmother after they argued about whether she could watch television.

Investigators said the girl stabbed her 64-year-old grandmother in the back with a kitchen knife as she read the newspaper around 2 a.m. Thursday. The woman called paramedics, while the girl called her mother.

Authorities say the grandmother was treated and released from the hospital, while the Department of Social Services placed the child in the custody of another relative.

Tweety takes a real cheap shot against Republican guest.

He said a Republican guest supported the war in Iraq which was incorrect. The guy looked like he wanted to cry.

One Suicide Every Nine Days On Golden Gate Bridge

Suicides often don't make the news for a variety of reasons: respect for the departed and family, and to deter future suicides.

Neither is foolproof, especially in San Francisco, home of the world's most prominent suicide magnet.

Fatal leaps from the Golden Gate Bridge spiked last year, per a report in The Examiner: 40 people died after jumping from the span, up from 25 in 2009.

That's about one death per nine days, a sobering statistic and one that's renewing calls for a (pricey) suicide barrier, funding for which is currently nonexistent.

OAKLAND, Pa. -- At least one gunman opened fire Thursday afternoon at a psychiatric clinic outside Pittsburgh, injuring several people, including a police officer who was grazed by a bullet.

One gunman was reported to have been killed, and police were searching for a possible second shooter, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, but there was no official confirmation.

Authorities did not say how many people were hit in the shooting at the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic in Oakland. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported at least five people were shot.

Miss. Supreme Court rules Barbour pardons valid

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Supreme Court ruled Thursday that some pardons issued by former Gov. Haley Barbour are valid.

In their 6-3 opinion, the justices wrote "we are compelled to hold that - in each of the cases before us - it fell to the governor alone to decide whether the Constitution's publication requirement was met."

Republican Barbour pardoned 198 people before finishing his second term Jan. 10, including four convicted murderers and a robber who worked as inmate trusties at the Governor's Mansion. Of those pardoned, 10 were in jail at the time.

Democratic Attorney General Jim Hood challenged the pardons. Hood argued before the Supreme Court on Feb. 9 that some pardons didn't meet the requirements of the Mississippi Constitution, which says people seeking pardons must publish notices for 30 days in a newspaper.

Biggest Solar Storm in Five Years to Hit Earth

WASHINGTON—The largest solar storm in five years is racing toward Earth, threatening to unleash a torrent of charged particles that could disrupt power grids, GPS and airplane flights.

The sun erupted Tuesday evening, and the effects should start smacking Earth between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. EST Thursday, according to forecasters at the federal government's Space Weather Prediction Center. They say the storm, which started with a massive solar flare, is growing as it speeds outward from the sun.

"It's hitting us right in the nose," said Joe Kunches, a scientist for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. He called it the sun's version of "Super Tuesday."

Scientists say the sun has been relatively quiet for some time. And this storm, while strong, may seem fiercer because Earth has been lulled by several years of weak solar activity.

Thinking about the Republican Party of my childhood.

When I was a kid, the person who most typified local Republican Party in suburban Detroit was the manager at my dad's bank branch. We didn't personally know him outside of our transactions, but he was a big Republican. He was a nice guy, polite and always wearing a suit. You could say he was Mr. Chamber of Commerce. He liked Ronald Reagan, but never said anything bad about Jimmy Carter. If he's still alive, I cannot imagine he would ever call President Obama a "socialist" or say that he was not an American citizen. He just had a set of beliefs about how the country and state should be governed, something natural in a democracy. I'm rambling, I but I really miss those days.

Is THIS the 'smoking gun' Breitbart promised? (VIDEO)

If so, he just made me like Obama even more.

"In this video, not previously available online but licensed by BuzzFeed from a Boston television station, the future president speaks at a 1990 campus protest organized to demand tenure for minority and female law professors."
