Was volunteering in Philly, PA this past weekend and one of the things I did was drive some people to the polls through Drive Your Ballot [link:https://www.driveyourballot.com/|. The first guy I took was 81 and told me he hadn't voted since 1983 but thought it was important this time. "This guy has got to go," he told me regarding his change of heart.
He waited in line for an hour and 45 minutes before he got to drop off his ballot. Never complained, even though it was 45 degrees out and he didn't have a winter jacket on. After I drove him home, he couldn't find his "I Voted" sticker and he was bummed. I took my next ride to the polls and picked up a new sticker for him and dropped it off for him at the end of the day. That guy made my weekend.
If people are willing to sacrifice like he did, maybe we can win this thing if we keep showing up and not giving in to despair...
