R.T. Rybak: Debbie Wasserman Schultz PUTTING 2016 AT RISK

R.T. Rybak, a vice chair at the Democratic National Committee, says Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz is making statements that are "flat out not true" and threatening the 2016 race.

Monmouth College National Survey: Millennial VOTERS WANT Trump and Bernie Sanders

A professor at Monmouth College has tapped into an "under reported" group of voters in the United States. At the beginning of October 2015, Monmouth College, in conjunction with Triton Polling and Research in Bend, Oregon, conducted an online survey of 307 voters between the ages of 18 and 24 years old. It's the largest political survey sampling of that age group in recent history, according to Joe Angotti, visiting distinguished professor at Monmouth College.

"This demographic, the 18 to 24 year old, has been particularly difficult to reach and include in polls," said Angotti, a former producer for NBC News.

Angotti continued, "We found out that the reason for that was because that demographic was being increasingly difficult to reach because they were all using cell phones."

Angotti formulated the online survey, asking Millennials some of the following questions: Who they would choose for president of the United States from the Republican and Democratic party, where do they stand on same-sex marriage, do they believe undocumented immigrants should be allowed to stay in the United States and do they support putting troops on the ground in the Middle East to fight ISIS.

If Millennials between 18 and 24 were fully in charge of the 2016 election, it would be Bernie Sanders versus Donald Trump. Millennials surveyed also strongly supported same-sex marriage, allowing undocumented immigrants to live and work in the U.S. and the majority of those surveyed did not support putting troops on the ground in the Middle East. Angotti said the survey will provide more accurate polling information, and hopefully will give a better representation of data for young voters. Monmouth College plans on sending similar polls throughout the election season.

‘PHARMA BRO’ Pummeled On Twitter For WHINING About Bernie Donating His Money To Charity

Martin Shkreli’s attempt to buy a piece of Bernie Sanders has to have been one of the most futile efforts in history. Rather than sticking to the type of people who would have accepted his $2700 campaign donation happily and added him to the family of rich scumbags trying to buy America — like any GOP candidate — Shkreli tried instead to buy the guy who is most famous for averaging $30 per donation, and whose number one platform position is standing up for the little guy. Sanders wasted zero time tossing Shkreli in the garbage where he belongs, donating the entire amount, which equals about three-and-a-half of Shkreli’s price-bloated pills, to charity. Sanders’ campaign spokesman, Michael Briggs, said in no uncertain terms, “We are not keeping the money from this poster boy for drug company greed.” A free health clinic in D.C. was the recipient of Shkreli’s donation via the Sanders campaign. Shkreli, who admittedly was trying to earn a sit-down with the senator, said:

“I think it’s cheap to use one person’s action as a platform without kind of talking to that person. He’ll take my money, but he won’t engage with me for five minutes to understand this issue better.”

Shkreli’s position has been that the price increase of the drug Daraprim by 5000 percent is to cover the cost of developing a better treatment. He feels that because the drug is a cure and not an ongoing cost for a chronic disease, people should be more than happy to pay what would amount to $50K to never have to take it again. The cost of that same cure before Shkreli got his hands on it was about $900. Shkreli, having no idea how to handle that pesky thing called “public relations,” took to Twitter to complain about Sanders and how his donation was handled by the campaign:

If @BernieSanders doesnt want my $, he can send it back to me. Keeping it & then donating that amount to charity means he still accepted it.

— Martin Shkreli (@MartinShkreli) October 16, 2015

Shkreli should have just taken the donation to charity move as a “no” and moved on, but he just couldn’t help himself. The response from the Twitterverse was less than cordial:

?resize=618%2C582

Pretty sure Bernie Sanders isn’t interested in Shkreli’s endorsement. Twitter is fairly certain as well:

?resize=590%2C579

Shkreli is obviously not used to losing. His attack on Sanders’ campaign has now reached near-meltdown:

Van Jones to CNN pundits: "We Missed Something Last Night, BERNIE IS ON FIRE"

There was a real disconnect between the pundits and the people in the first Democratic Debate. Bernie won with the people watching including all focus groups and online polls but the media pundits went overwhelming for Hillary in contradiction to their own viewers.

I understand that online polls are unscientific but focus groups are used by pollsters and campaigns to determine where the public stands on certain issues. Pundits paid by the corporate media to give their 'analysis' are totally suspect. When a media outlet such as CNN, which is owned by Time-Warner, a major Clinton contributor, employs a pundit you can bet they expect their employee to toe the line and to give their 'analysis' without rocking the money boat.

That is why you could see the stunned faces of Anderson Cooper and others in the segment above when Van Jones decided to make it real by telling his own truth.

NBC Poll: Bernie Pulls Into Statistical TIE Among Hispanics

NBC's new post-debate poll carries the blaring lede: "NBC Online Poll: Clinton Wins Debate, Re-energizes Core Backers." And indeed, it found a majority of Democrats thought Hillary won the debate and that she held a steady 14 point overall lead.

But below the headline there was a major shift in narrative.

A typical July poll found Hillary leading Bernie 73-3 among Hispanics. With findings like that, it's not surprising the media churned out story after story trumpeting Hillary's lock on America's Hispanic voters.

But according to this new NBC poll, that 70-point lead has now shrunk to 42-35, and with a 7.7% margin of error, this means Bernie and Hillary are in a current statistical tie among Hispanics.

Of course Nevada, where 30% of the population is Hispanic, is the third voting state:

February 1, 2016 Iowa
February 9, 2016 New Hampshire
February 20, 2016 Nevada
February 27, 2016 South Carolina

Hispanics also make up 38% of the population in the delegate-rich, Super Tuesday state of Texas, which Hillary won thanks to carrying Hispanics 66-32 in 2008, breathing fresh life into her faltering campaign.

Conventional wisdom this year was that people of color would be a firewall for Hillary. We have heard time and again that Bernie can't win over people of color because as a Vermonter he can't appeal beyond similarly "lily white" states. At least for Hispanics, that narrative appears to be crumbling.

Democratic Vice Chair R.T Ryback CALLS Debbie Wasserman Schultz A LIAR

On Thursday, Democratic National Committee (DNC) Vice Chair R.T Ryback accused DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz of making statements that were “flat-out not true” regarding her feud with Vice Chair Tulsi Gabbard over the Democratic debates. The former Minneapolis Mayor, who is usually regarded as a team player, took the gloves off on Thursday, and publicly expressed his dismay with Wasserman Schultz’s leadership.

The Democratic Party’s inner turmoil over how many presidential debates to include on the schedule has been simmering for weeks, but Ryback apparently reached a boiling point on Thursday, rallying to Gabbard’s defense, as he leveled criticism at Wasserman-Schultz. Wasserman Schultz began the week on the offensive, arguing that Vice Chair Gabbard was causing an unwelcome distraction by focusing on the dispute over the number of debates, and that her dissension was drawing attention from the presidential candidates. Wasserman Schultz also insisted that she had consulted with all the party officers prior to scheduling the debates. Ryback, however, disputed those claims and argued that Wasserman Schultz was “knowingly” saying something “that is flat-out not true.”

Ryback went on to say:

This is not a back-and-forth between a chair and a vice chair. This is a chair of the Democratic Party wrongly stating that she consulted with all of the party officers. I was not consulted. I know that Tulsi Gabbard was not consulted. And this is becoming about much more than debates.

The Democratic National Committee staff has never been stronger. The one thing that could stop us from having a great election coming up is if the chair continues to create these self-made dramas that are below what a chair should be doing…

I am seriously questioning whether she has the capacity to do what has to be done. And that’s why I’m doing what I wanted not to do for a long time, which is go public with my serious questions of whether she can lead this party.

http://www.nytimes.com/politics/first-draft/2015/10/15/top-party-official-accuses-democratic-national-chairwoman-of-lying-questions-her-leadership/?_r=0

While there is no doubt that Debbie Wasserman Schultz is sincere in her commitment and loyalty to the Democratic Party, what is not clear is her ability to lead the party. She has badly bungled the scheduling of presidential debates, and rather than admit to making tactical errors she has engaged in feuds with the party’s Vice Chairs. Furthermore, she has not been inclusive or consistent in her dealing with the candidates, essentially freezing out Harvard Professor Lawrence Lessig, even though he is arguably polling better than Lincoln Chafee and Jim Webb.

Her seemingly imperious leadership over the DNC might be tolerable if she could demonstrate that her autocratic tendencies had led to unprecedented Democratic electoral success during her tenure. However, just the opposite is true. The 2014 midterm elections were a political disaster with Wasserman Schultz at the helm. With the presidential election just a little over a year away, the DNC needs to come together and direct their energy towards battling the Republicans, rather than continuing to fight with one another. If Wasserman Schultz can’t unify her party, it might be time for a change at the top.

Democrats Eye MORE National Events as ANGER GROWS Over Debate Schedule

DNC vice-chair Donna Brazile tells TIME the party is considering "expanding opportunities for the candidates to talk more" Democratic party leaders are in discussions about new ways to give their presidential candidates national airtime, according to a vice chair of the party, following months of withering criticism about the Democrats’ limited debate schedule.

The talks, to be held among top Democratic National Committee officers, will center on adding more national forums for the candidates. “As officers, we’re going to talk over the next few days to see what agreements we can come to with regards to scheduling more — expanding opportunities for the candidates to talk more,” DNC vice-chair Donna Brazile told TIME on Friday afternoon. “So we’re actually going to try to see what we can agree to that candidates, and of course state parties and media partners can agree to.”

“This is a fluid process,” Brazile added. A party spokesperson confirmed that officers are discussing how to maximize viewers at national venues. The internal DNC discussions in the coming days could lead to an expanded schedule of national appearances for the Democratic presidential candidates, including forums or town halls in which the candidates can reach a national audience.

It’s unclear, however, whether the party will add more debates to the six already scheduled, the first of which took place Tuesday in Las Vegas. DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz has come under fire for limiting the number of debates to six and prohibiting candidates from taking part in additional debates. In 2008, the party had more than 20 debates and Republicans have scheduled 11 for the current presidential race. Some senior Democrats say the current schedule sacrifices invaluable television airtime to the Republicans, who get more hours and national viewers. The DNC has insisted that six debates are enough, and that too many debates are a distraction to candidates who are forced to prepare for each meeting.

BOOM!-Trump: 9/11 Happened on George W. Bush's Watch

Does this mean buh-bye for Jeb!.........

Donald Trump slammed former President George W. Bush for the 9/11 attacks happening "during his reign" in an interview aired Friday, prompting a strong rebuke from a certain GOP presidential rival.
Asked by Bloomberg's Stephanie Ruhle if he could reassure the American people in times of crisis, as when Bush stood before the nation in the aftermath of the deadliest terror attack in its history or when President Barack Obama mourned the Sandy Hook shooting in 2012, Trump was adamant.

“I think I have a bigger heart than all of them," Trump responded. "I think I’m much more competent then all of them. I mean, say what you want, the World Trade Center came down during his time.

Ruhle interjected: “Hold on, you can’t blame George Bush for that."

“He was president, OK? Don’t blame him or don’t blame him, but he was president," Trump continued. "The World Trade Center came down during his reign. If you look at Sandy Hook, those people are still begging for help."

Snowden Says Hillary Clinton’s BOGUS STATEMENTS Show a “Lack of Political Courage”

Hillary Clinton twice this week has insisted, contrary to the facts, that former NSA contractor Edward Snowden could have accomplished his goals and avoided punishment if he’d raised his concerns through the proper channels. Clinton first made that assertion at Tuesday night’s Democratic presidential debate, and again at a town hall meeting in New Hampshire on Friday.

“I firmly believe that he could have gone public and released the information about the collection of information on Americans under whistleblower protections, and he could have done it within the tradition in our country that shields people that come forth acting out of conscience to present information that they believe the public should have,” she said on Friday.

Snowden was asked about Clinton’s comments in an appearance, by videolink from Moscow, at a Bard College privacy symposium Friday afternoon. Snowden said her statement was “false” and he decried “a lack of political courage.”

“Truth should matter in politics, and courage should matter in politics,” he said.

During Tuesday’s debate, Clinton said Snowden “could have been a whistleblower. He could have gotten all of the protections of being a whistleblower. He could have raised all the issues that he has raised. And I think there would have been a positive response to that.” (She also innacurately claimed that the Snowden files had “fallen into a lot of the wrong hands.”) But media outlets and advocates quickly noted that Snowden was not in fact entitled to whistleblower protections, which do not apply to contractors. Snowden has also maintained that he did try going through established channels, to no avail. And the official response to his leaks strongly suggests that no one in his chain of command was interested in letting his concerns reach the public.

Hilary Clinton is wrong and misinformed,” said Anna Myers, the executive director of the Government Accountability Project, in an e-mail to the Intercept. “No NSA whistleblower had been listened to in 13 years of trying. It is disingenuous for any informed current, or past, public official dealing with such matters to assert that whistleblowers in national security had a way to safely report their concerns about illegal and overreaching surveillance through official channels.”

Politifact rated Clinton’s claim as [b“mostly false”.]

Rand Paul GOES OFF On Sanders

"..Rand Paul should stick to his talking points and not stray so far off the reservation, because talk like this is irresponsible, and political discourse at its lowest low..."

Rand Paul is desperately trying to claw his campaign back into relevance after Erick Erickson called for him to stick a fork in it. So how better than to make outrageous comments about Bernie Sanders?

Right Wing Watch via LGF:

“It amazes me and it actually kind of scares me,” Paul said. “I’ve been spending more time going after Bernie and socialism because I don’t want America to succumb to the notion that there’s anything good about socialism. I think it’s not an accident of history that most of the times when socialism has been tried that attendant with that has been mass genocide of people or any of those who object to it. Stalin killed tens of millions of people. Mao killed tens of millions of people. Pol Pot killed tens of millions of people. When you have a command economy, when everything is dictated from one authority, that’s socialism, but it doesn’t come easily to those who resist it.”

http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/rand-paul-warns-sanders-presidency-could-lead-mass-genocide

Yeah, those Danish people are all about mass genocide, right? We hear so many news stories about how the Danes line up their citizens and send them off to their deaths because...socialism.
