These things have taken over the comments section in our local paper; they even post on the obits. Just guessing based on wording and syntax, maybe eastern European? Also guessing that sufficient numbers are clicking on them, that's why they keep showing up. And sometimes the avatar pics are NSFW. Can't imagine that anyone would take them seriously. But then I live in an area where Trump is deity, so maybe the gullibility shouldn't surprise. Yeesh.

"It"

This is new, and more than a little frightening. In my 71 years I don’t recall anything like it.

“It” is the blatant corruption that has far too easily pervaded our structures of governance. It’s damned scary, in no small measure because it is routinely met with a casual shrug by an entire party. There have always been good guys and bad guys on both sides, but they were eventually dealt with by their fellows who respected constitutional parameters. Oaths of office meant something, as did words like “honor” and “integrity” and “trust”. These days of hearings have served to confirm, in no uncertain terms, that today’s Republican party no longer has any use for such concepts; what had been a growing suspicion has proven to be horrible fact. As citizens of this particular republic we should never have to wonder whether the Senate or the Supreme Court will find in favor of “We the People”. Yet, here we are. And our hosts are the members of a formerly grand old party who are untroubled by having soiled themselves in front of the whole world.
