San Rafael, Calif. Passes Ban That Makes It Illegal To Smoke In Own House If Walls Are Shared With

Another Dwelling

The town of San Rafael, Calif., has passed a ban on smoking that city officials have called the most stringent in the nation. The new ordinance makes it illegal for residents to smoke in their own homes if they share a wall with another dwelling.

The ban applies to owners and renters alike, and it covers condominiums, co-ops, apartments and any multi-family residence containing three or more units.

I don't smoke but I think this is wrong. No town should be able to tell people what they can or can't do in the privacy of their own home. What if they did not like how you had sex? Or that you ate meat on Friday? What if they did not like the TV stations you watched? If you let them dictate to you on one thing, what is the next step?

"Wendy Davis Redefines ‘Pro-Life,’ Enrages Anti-Choicers"

“I am pro-life,” she told a University of Texas at Brownsville crowd on Tuesday. “I care about the life of every child: every child that goes to bed hungry, every child that goes to bed without a proper education, every child that goes to bed without being able to be a part of the Texas dream, every woman and man who worry about their children’s future and their ability to provide for that future. I care about life and I have a record of fighting for people above all else.”
“This isn’t about protecting abortion,” Davis explained in the same appearance. “It’s about protecting women. It’s about trusting women to make good decisions for themselves and empowering them with the tools to do that.”

You know they are losing. I just got a local robocall from Ted Cruz talking about

the Obama Administration shutdown. I don't usually answer calls I don't know but this was from a local number and I thought it might be from a new cell phone for a family member.

U.S. Rep. Ellison arrested during immigration rally

Source: star tribune

U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison was arrested Tuesday by U.S. Capitol Police during an immigration rally on the National Mall.
As protestors marched toward the U.S. Capitol, Ellison and several other House Democrats sat in the middle of Independence Avenue, blocking rush hour traffic.
Police led Ellison away in cuffs shortly after 4 p.m.
Ellison’s office said the move was an act of “civil disobedience” designed to urge Congress to pass legislation that would allow the nation’s undocumented immigrants to apply for U.S. citizenship.

CREW Calls on OCE to Investigate Rep. Neugebauer for Berating Park Ranger

Today, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) filed a complaint with the Office of Congressional Ethics against Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R-TX) for conduct that reflects discreditably upon the House.

Footage captured by NBC Washington on October 2, 2013, a day after the government shutdown began, shows Rep. Neugebauer nastily confronting a park ranger outside the National World War II Memorial. The congressman was angry the memorial had been closed, apparently oblivious to the consequences of his and his colleagues’ refusal to fund government operations.

Rep. Neugebauer’s mistreatment of a federal employee who was doing her job is disgraceful,” said CREW Executive Director Melanie Sloan. “The blame for the government shutdown and the resulting closure of the memorials lies squarely on the shoulders of lawmakers like Rep. Neugebauer who refuse to fund our government.”

GOP Boozing It Up on House Floor While Voting for Shutdown

Maybe it was the alcohol, or the late hour, or maybe the House Republicans have just completely lost their minds. On Saturday night, while they were trying to come up with some kind of magic bullet to kill Obamacare, they decided that not only were they going to shut down the government, but now they have added a “conscience clause” to the spending bill which takes away preventative care from women, which includes birth control.

And before you go thinking that this attack on women was the only outrageous thing they did Saturday night, hold on, I’m afraid I have more to report. Friday afternoon, Republican John Culberson from TX got huge applause from his colleagues when he compared the GOP’s effort to destroy Obamacare to the heroes of 9/11. Culberson compared the House Repubs to the passengers on United Flight 93 who overtook the terrorists and got control of the plane on 9/11. Yes, Seriously.

Those assholes think this is some big drunken joke. They are less responsible than a college kids at a Frat house.

Dad Instructs 6-Year-Old Son To Lie To Cops About Shooting His 4-Year-Old Sister

A man from Wisconsin whose 6-year-old son shot his 4-year-old sister with a .22 caliber rifle in late August has been charged with leaving a loaded firearm near a minor and obstructing an officer.

The son has been shooting guns since he was 3 years old, according to his mother, but was not allowed to shoot without adult supervision. However, the gun was left unsupervised and was loaded when the boy picked it up and, at his sister’s request, aimed the gun at her and pulled the trigger. The little girl was shot in the face but her injuries were thankfully non-life threatening.

Their father, 48-year-old Fred B. Maphis, had initially told the son to lie to the sheriff’s deparment and tell them that he picked up the shotgun and shot the girl when he accidentally dropped it. But later the boy admitted that he pulled the trigger on purpose and was told by his dad to lie about how the gun went off.
