Comment On Dealing With The Pandemic.....
One of the things I notice is that when things look better in a State that the Governor of the State starts relaxing some of the restrictions put in place to minimize the spread of Covid.
For instance - in Illinois - there is some relaxing of restrictions in certain areas of the State - now allowing inside service in restaurants; opening of movie theaters; opening of gyms; etc.
What is bothering me is that when this relaxing occurs - people start taking advantage of the situation and begin ignoring basic protections such as wearing masks, social distancing, washing and sanitizing hands. There is a tendency for people to think that they are safe again from contracting the virus.
Businesses also have a tendency to get sloppy and begin to allow everyone into their establishments instead of limiting the number of patrons in their establishments. They don't clean shopping carts. They eliminate hand sanitizing machines at the door. They remove the arrows from the floors that direct the flow of the people in their store.
In essence - both people and businesses relax to the point that creates a situation where it gets easier for the virus to spread again.
My opinion is that the plug is pulled to quickly and easily to appease both the people and businesses. I can understand that because of the financial implications - BUT - what happens is that in a short period of time we cycle back into a situation where the numbers of positives, hospitalizations and deaths go up again.
We don't give it enough time to really put this virus behind us. We keep going in circles and the Governors are forced to impose restrictions again - that aggravates the situation and pisses people off.
Especially now - with vaccines available - the emphasis should be on getting as many people vaccinated as possible - to effectively get ahead of the spread.
Does anyone out there have the same thoughts on this as I?

I Predicted The Other Day Here On DU That Romney Will Be 2024 Repug Nominee....
and many of the responses I received for my post were that - no way - Romney is considered a loser and has no chance to become the nominee.
Just now I heard on one of the cable news shows - that Trump would be considered the front runner for the nomination in 2024.
Now why is that?
Shouldn't Trump be considered a loser as well? And what about the fact that he is the only president in the history of this country - that has been impeached twice?
Why is Romney eliminated from the possibility of becoming the 2024 Repug nominee and Trump is considered a 'front runner'.

I hear a lot of Dems giving her kudos for coming out against Trump as hard as she did.
I'm torn by this. Something makes me question whether I should trust her. Is she sincere? Or Is this just a political move on her part because she has bigger goals for the future - like 2024?
If she is so adamant about how she feels about Trump - I would like to see her meet with each Repug Senator and convince them that they should vote to 'convict' Trump when we have the Senate trial.
Maybe that would make me feel better about her.
Does anyone else here have similar feelings about her?

We know that Trump is a poor loser. We know that he is vindictive and likes to get even. We know that he only thinks of himself. We know that he's desperate. We know that he likes to steal the spotlight and be the talk of the news.
We've learned so much about Trump over the last 4 years and we can almost predict that he is up to something. We know that with only these last 5 days before he's no longer president he's cooking up something outrageous.
In your opinion - what is the worst and most outrageous thing Trump can do before he's evicted from the White House?

This should be in place now so that any protesters that show up know how they will be dealt with should they get out of hand.
Somebody Should Tell Trump His Post Office Hotel Is Being Stormed By Patriots....
and being ransacked.
I'd be curious to learn Trump's reaction to that news.
Would he watch with glee as it happened?
Would he call in the National Guard?
What would he do? How would he react?
