Email from Robby Mook

Got this a few minutes ago. This is the kind of shit republicans feed their constituents who lap it up like catnip and treat it as though it were gospel. Robbie sets the record straight.

I want to let you know about a development that just occurred, because it matters. The tone of this primary matters, and the condition of our party at the end of it will matter as we prepare to face Donald Trump or Ted Cruz this fall.

Earlier today, the Sanders campaign wrote a letter to the Democratic National Committee, falsely accusing us of violating campaign finance law.

You won’t be surprised by what happened next: 26 minutes after the letter was sent, his campaign sent a fundraising email attempting to capitalize on the phony charges.

(Before you read any further, let's get one thing straight: this accusation is false. They're questioning our joint fundraising agreement with the DNC, which allows us to support Democrats running up and down the ticket -- the same fundraising structure used by President Obama in 2008 and 2012.)

This latest incident is part of a troubling pattern of behavior -- occurring just as Bernie’s mathematical odds of winning the nomination dwindle toward zero -- in which Sanders and his team are not just debating us on issues (which we all agree is perfectly fair), but rather attacking Hillary Clinton’s character, integrity, and motivations.

The fact that they include the Democratic Party in these charges -- an organization we want future generations of progressives to trust and support -- further confirms that the Sanders campaign has let things get out of hand in its waning days. To wit:

Over the weekend, they had protesters outside one of our fundraising events -- one whose proceeds went not just to Hillary for America, but to the Democratic National Committee and 32 state Democratic Parties -- throwing dollar bills at Hillary’s motorcade, as if they were at, shall we say, an adult entertainment venue. This was just days after someone introducing Bernie at a rally called Hillary a “Democratic whore.”
In last week’s debate, Bernie questioned Hillary’s commitment to fighting climate change because a whopping 0.2% of the money given to our campaign has come from employees of oil and gas companies. Not even 2%, mind you: 0.2%.
And of course, Sanders spent several days calling Hillary unqualified for the presidency, based on an entirely false claim that Hillary had said the same about him. She hadn’t (and still hasn’t, even after what he said).
To be clear, we welcome a debate on the important issues facing Americans, like how to prevent gun violence, encourage tolerance, and do more to level the playing field for Americans who are counting on us.

But it’s hard to see how anyone -- other than Donald Trump and Ted Cruz -- benefits from this downward spiral of irresponsible and baseless attacks. Right about now is when we ought to be talking about coming together as a progressive movement, not undermining a generation of voters’ faith in the Democratic Party and in the woman who is almost certain to be its nominee.

Thank you for everything you do to support our campaign.

The Absurb Reaction (the Clooneys)

The Absurd Reaction to the George Clooney Fundraiser Proves That “Tea Party Liberals” Exist
April 18, 2016 By Allen Clifton
I really wasn’t going to write anything about the absurdity surrounding the George Clooney fundraiser, but the ridiculousness of it all became so overwhelming that I had to address it. It’s rare that I see anything as ludicrous as all of this coming from the left.

First, yes, it was an extremely high-dollar fundraiser, just like basically every other presidential candidate in history has had – even President Obama. You know, the Democrat who broke a record when it came to receiving money from Wall Street. In fact, President Obama raised a ton of money in 2008 and 2012, and had a super PAC. Yet he also went on to pass Dodd-Frank and has been a pretty damn good president. So this childish reaction to this fundraiser – including protesters throwing dollar bills at Hillary Clinton’s vehicle – is asinine. Then can I point out a pretty obvious fact? These folks throwing a hissy fit over this fundraiser, and those who actually took time out of their lives to protest it, do realize that this thing was put together by George Clooney and his wife Amal Clooney, right? And are these people aware that the Clooney’s are huge human rights activists? His wife has built a large part of her career fighting for human rights all over the world. To say nothing about the fact that George Clooney has been a massive advocate for gay rights here in the U.S. and has spent a great deal of time bringing attention to many of the atrocities that have gone in on places like Darfur and Sudan. Hell, he was arrested in a protest that included Martin Luther King III at the Sudanese Embassy protesting genocide in Sudan. But people were protesting the fact that he held a fundraiser where the leading Democratic candidate was the “guest of honor”? Are you kidding me? Oh, and another thing, did these people realize that the overwhelming majority of the money that was raised is actually going to help down-ballot Democrats get elected so we can get Congress out of Republican control?

Huge numbers blocked from the Hillary Clinton group

It's a statement that we've heard numerous times. Here are my thoughts on that subject.

A little perspective on that comment. First, Bernie supporters outnumber Hillary supporters here about 6 to 1. Secondly, Bernie supporters are more prone to shoot from the hip. It's not a problem. The problem is where they're aiming.Thirdly, I would venture a guess that if you took the number of supporters blocked from each group the disparity would be totally different given the percentages of supporters on each side. Last, but not least, I believe Hillary's supporters, for the most part, make a conscious effort to avoid Bernie's group. I have seen plenty of posts from Bernie supporters who come to the group with genuine respect, and that respect has been reciprocated. If one comes into the group like a wolf in sheep's clothing, it won't take long to get the deserved boot.

I'm posting this here just to see how many won't be able to help themselves.

After work today...

... I was relaxing on my front porch when lo and behold a bird landed on one of the railings. He just sat there and stared at me...............I was like Could this be a sign? Is my life going to take a turn for the better? Will I come into some kind of windfall? Will there be peace on Earth in my lifetime?.......,..........NAH!! Birds perch on my railing everyday.

An uncanny parallel. Google has shut down direct linking of videos for me. If you're not familiar with the scene, please watch and comment.

Can you imagine- Part II

First, I would like to thank everyone who replied to my original "can you imagine" thread. What I would like to do here is a follow up to that thread. One of the arguments that we hear day after day is that people won't vote for Hillary Clinton because she's just another republican in disguise, and that electing her would be just a continuation of a republican administration. This is where I would like to direct your attention to another thread.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/12511480853

Reading the replies to the OP, I think I can safely say that most of them are from Bernie Sanders supporters. Given the above major excuse as to why some would not vote for Hillary Clinton should she be the nominee, and if there was any credence to the argument, wouldn't one think that the results of the test would align her more closely with Donald Trump or Ted Cruz than with Bernie Sanders? And so, here is my point. By taking that test they have exposed the hypocrisy of the claims about Hillary Clinton being "just like a Republican." I appreciate any thoughts on what I believe to be a legitimate observation. Thanks
