Ray Epps Charged With Jan. 6 Crime--After Conspiracy Theory Claimed He Worked For FBI

Source: Forbes

Ray Epps—a supporter of former President Donald Trump who was spotted at the January 6 Capitol riot—was charged with disorderly conduct for his alleged involvement in the attack, after the lack of charges against Epps led personalities like Tucker Carlson to baselessly claim Epps was a government provocateur.

Epps was charged with one count of disorderly or disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, according to a filing from federal prosecutor Michael Gordon.

The court document said Epps did “engage in disorderly and disruptive conduct” at the Capitol with the intent to “in fact impede and disrupt the orderly conduct of Government business and official functions.”

Trump turns to Putin for validation (yes, again)

TFG is Putin's puppet and Putin's only hope to survive the war in Ukraine. TFG needs Putin's help to keep from going to prison and Putin needs TFG to survive

As part of Trump’s “Meet the Press” interview with NBC News’ Kristen Welker, Trump went even further down the same road.

Former President Donald Trump said Thursday that he appreciated recent praise from Russian leader Vladimir Putin. In an exclusive interview with NBC “Meet the Press” moderator Kristen Welker, Trump said it meant “what I’m saying is right,” referring to his positions on the war in Ukraine.

.......In the months that followed, Trump repeatedly claimed he had a secret plan to negotiate a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine “within 24 hours,” going so far as to boast that it’d be “easy” to end the crisis.

It was against this backdrop that the former president told Welker that he still won’t divulge the details of his secret plan — which almost certainly does not exist in reality — except to say that there are “certain things” he would tell Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.,,,,,

No, actually it doesn’t. Putin’s validation of Trump’s absurd boasts does not mean Trump is “right”; what it means is that he and his Russian ally have linked arms — yet again. To see an endorsement from the Kremlin as evidence of merit is to abandon any sense of propriety.

“If you are on the same side as Putin, you might want to rethink your position,” former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said last week. He wasn’t referring to U.S. policy in Ukraine, but it’s an observation with broad applicability.

Trump shames Jews during Rosh Hashanah for refusing to vote for him

As a liberal Jew who voted against TFG twice, I am amused that TFG thinks that Jews owe TFG anything much less their support/vote.

Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, began at sundown on Friday and Donald Trump posted his own message with a veiled threat to so-called "liberal Jews."

"Just a quick reminder for liberal Jews who voted to destroy America & Israel because you believed false narratives! Let's hope you learned from your mistake & make better choices moving forward! Happy New Year!" the meme says.

It goes on to list the "things Trump did" for Jews while he was in office. It claims among other things, that Trump "signed an executive order for Judaism to be a nationality in addition to a religion so it would fall under the category Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. That act prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color and national origin in programs receiving federal financial assistance.".....

Trump has always struggled to garner the Jewish vote. In 2016 he earned 24 percent of the Jewish vote, according to the far-right Republican Jewish Coalition's own poll. But in 2020, he managed to get 30.5 percent. It was also what Mitt Romney was able to get in 2012. In the Pew Research Service's calculations of voters by faith, Jews supported Clinton to the tune of 71 percent.

In an exit poll of 800 people released by J Street, revealed Jews supported Biden at 77 percent vs. 21 percent for Trump. The Republican group, however, claimed their poll of 600 voters showed Jews supported Biden 60.6 percent vs. Trump at 30.5..

Trump reiterates request that Chutkan recuse herself from his his Jan. 6 case

Source: CBS

Former President Donald Trump's defense team filed papers Sunday night in further support of his request that Judge Tanya Chutkan recuse herself in the federal 2020 election conspiracy case case brought by special counsel Jack Smith in Washington, D.C. In doing so, Trump lawyers met the Sunday deadline set by Chutkan to formally respond to Smith's opposition to the request....

Trump's lawyers again argued that Chutkan has made disqualifying statements critical of Trump during her handling of the sentencing of two Jan. 6 defendants.

In their latest argument, submitted in D.C. federal court, Trump's defense argued, "These proceedings are indeed historic. The public interest is not in the perception of a rush to judgment or a show trial contaminated by the appearance of a partial presiding judge…"

Trump's attorneys have requested Chutkan's recusal in the former president's election interference case based on previous statements she made in two separate Capitol riot sentencing hearings. They highlighted her comment to one Capitol riot defendant in October 2022 that the violent attempt to stop the certification of Joe Biden's election came from "blind loyalty to one person who, by the way, remains free to this day."

They argued that this statement suggests "an apparent prejudgment of guilt."

Judge Cannon just quietly revealed why Trump can't delay longer: legal expert

This trial may well take place in May. The number of classified documents is basically one banker box of documents which should not take that long to review.

Donald Trump may not be able to delay much longer in the classified documents case in Florida, and the judge overseeing that case just quietly let him and his legal team know that, a legal analyst said on Wednesday.

Specifically, Rubin reported, Cannon "says that yesterday, the Special Counsel acknowledged the classified information in this case 'consist[s] of approximately 3,500 pages classified at various levels.'"

"If that's the totality of the classified information at issue, Trump's team review and analysis thereof may not exactly justify further delay. After all, the general rule of thumb is that a banker's box of materials contains roughly 3,000 pages."

Trump co-defendant Walt Nauta loses bid for wide access to classified docs

One of the more amusing things about last weeks ruling was the fact that Walt Nauta had demanded that he be given full access to the classified documents in this case. That request was really arrogant and could have delayed the case. I was happy to see that Nauta was denied access to all classified information except for one picture.

Walt Nauta, a personal valet for Donald Trump, was barred from being able to broadly view classified information in his Florida trial.....

Nauta's attorneys had argued that their client could be trusted with classified material because of his experience in the U.S. Navy. But prosecutors pointed out that Nauta was charged with obstruction and making false statements, not mishandling classified documents.

In another Wednesday ruling, Cannon left the door open for Nauta and co-defendant Carlos De Oliveira to access classified documents introduced during the trial.

"As acknowledged by the Special Counsel, the classified information in this case, described on September 12, 2023, as consisting of approximately 3,500 pages classified at various levels, is discoverable information pursuant to Rule 16(a)(1)(E)," Cannon said.

The only documents that TFG's body man is allowed to see is the unredacted copy of this photo
