New twist in the Dolezal story: Her brother is an alleged child molester

In case you were wondering why Rachel Dolezal's parents waited many years after she started representing herself as black to start talking about it...well, there's a reason.

http://cdapress.com/news/local_news/article_41195e08-847c-5e7f-b11e-1c3a9005b1c6.html

Since The Press reported the news, Dolezal has made several statements to various media outlets indicating that her parents' motivation to come forward about her ethnic identity was motivated by family legal matters playing out in Colorado. Court records show that Dolezal's older biological brother, Joshua, was arrested in 2014 on four counts of child sexual assault.
The charges were filed in Clear Creek County, Colorado. The case is scheduled to go to trial this summer.
The New York Daily News reported Sunday that Rachel Dolezal is assisting the alleged victim in the case. The New York publication did not release the name of the victim and it was not immediately available in court records.

Speaking of 2016, let's have a "what-if" exercise

For the purposes of discussion, let's pretend our next president has a Congress that will work with him or her to achieve whatever he or she wants to do. This is a two-parter.

Part 1: If a person running on the Democratic ticket wins the election, what is the first thing you'd like them to do?

Part 2: If a person running on the Republican ticket wins, what is the first thing you expect them to do?

My answers first:
Part 1: $1 trillion in infrastructure spending - specifically, roads, bridges, ocean ports and airports - without one cent in tax reduction.
Part 2: National right-to-work law.

Argentina Introduces New Job Opportunity for GOP Presidential Candidates

A new law in Argentina will require public hospitals in its largest province to keep a steady supply of specially trained clowns to help treat child patients, reports The Associated Press.

Someone really hasn't come to terms with this "computer" thing

This is an employment ad we are currently running...

http://cdapress.thejobnetwork.com/job/14091580

The company is a wholesaler of small-winery still wine and craft beer, and the job is serving as an account representative - calling on current customers and finding new ones. The job actually does sound pretty cool.

Then you get down to how to apply: "email a resume and a handwritten cover letter to <two e-mail addresses given>."

How the hell do you DO that?

The tea party is about to lose their minds

You know the tea party has been screaming about FEMA camps being set up in Texas as part of a "government takeover" of that state.

Texas needs a lot of federal assistance to recover from the recent flooding, and part of that assistance will be a series of refugee camps to give the people who've been washed out of their homes a place to live while they're bailing their houses out.

Guess who runs those camps.

Anyone here close enough to Fayetteville, AR, to attend city council meetings?

It would be HIGHLY entertaining to find out the reaction of the townsfolk next time Michelle gets a wild hair and decides to start attacking gay people again.

Exercising outside this summer? Drink twice as much water as you think you need

I decided to go on a nice little 60-mile bike ride today. When I got back I was feeling REAL bad. Half an hour of rest and two quarts of water later and I was back to normal...tomorrow I'll buy another water bottle and cage (preferably one that holds a liter of water) to keep this from happening again.

Question for Wayne LaPierre, NRA head honcho

We know the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. You've told us, so it must be true.

But since my local gun store is all out of A-10 Warthogs and M109 howitzers, what the hell stops a hundred and fifty outlaw bikers with guns?

Should the feds have control of federal agencies?

I just got this letter to the editor...one paragraph (with names redacted) is so precious I just had to share:

I am supporting (name redacted) for Zone 5 for upcoming (agency) election for the following reasons. First he had an honorable career and was a fierce fighter as a U.S. Army Ranger. He had to retire due to injuries but decided he would serve his community in becoming involved in his county’s FEMA chapter. He rose to become the director of that agency and then witnessed undue and unwelcomed federal control of their agency during emergencies. He stood up against what he and other county level officers felt was over reactions and control.

Last I checked, the F in FEMA stands for "federal."

The NRA is having a Mother's Day drawing, and the prize is despicable

http://woobox.com/egtkim

The prize in the NRA's "give your mom something she can carry for Mother's Day" drawing is a new-in-box Smith & Wesson M&P Shield handgun, eight hours of safety training, and an Eddie Eagle pack for the kids.

If that gun sounds familiar, it should: it is the reason Idaho mom Veronica Rutledge's two-year-old son won't be celebrating Mother's Day with her this year...because it's the gun her son used to shoot her dead at the Walmart that's ten miles up the road from my house.
