Will Trump's donors keep feeding the beast? Or snap the checkbooks shut for a lost cause?

I'm not saying it is a lost cause.

Get out the vote!

But if there's one thing rich people demand, it's value for money...

I just donated to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

I was hoping there would be a block in which to enter a note.

I would have dedicated my donation to the memory of Ruth Bader Ginsberg.

IN MEMORIAM:

September 19, 2020

Friday Night Wine-Buzz, Ruth Bader Ginsberg Memorial thread.

We loved you, RBG. We will not see your like again...

At what point did you realize that 2020 was going to be an historically bad year?

I mean, at this point, all one has to do in any adverse situation is shrug and say: "2020. Amirite?"

Ain't that a kick in the head? I was just told I'm the #1 provider in patient satisfaction.

Company-wide, best in the patient satisfaction survey second quarter in a row.

I think I needed to hear that. I've been so burned out lately, wondering if I'm really doing any good or making a difference.

I guess being able to unburden myself to all of you here means I don't take my frustrations out on my patients.

And for that, I'm deeply grateful to you.

I love you all...

I don't know how much more of this I can take...

Yesterday morning before I got here, someone threw a rock through the glass door of the clinic and made off with a few computers. The clinic manager suspended shower and laundry service as a result. Now people are coming in screaming and shouting and calling everyone names. The drug-seekers are loudly demanding that I write them prescriptions for their favorite recreational pharmaceuticals, and stomping out angrily when I refuse. And my staff is on the ragged edge of a collective nervous breakdown.

I mean, shit like this happens every once in a while. But it's getting harder and harder to cope with, what with everything else going on in the world right now...

Can't wait until Friday. I'm going to step out for the evening, a little cannabis, a little ETOH. Just to get away for a while...

Finally purged the guys I served with in the Gulf from my "friends" list.

Long past time.

I decided that the fact we served together was no longer reason to put up with their pro-Trump toxicity...

Un-friended an actual, real-life friend today. A classmate from Physician Assistant School.

She's always been rather softly right-wing. Perfectly pleasant in real life, but her social media profile is awash in fulsome praise for cops, firefighters, military service personnel, the flag, the anthem, etc. etc. etc.

You know, the kind of overcompensation common to people who have never served in the military. (She was a firefighter/EMT before being selected for PA School. And no one has any grievances against firefighters.)

Her other charms were enough for me to keep her on my friends list until now.

This morning, she shared a huffily-self-righteous rant from some asshole who is boycotting the NFL due to the unity demonstration. They didn't kneel during the anthem; the flag wasn't involved. They just displayed their solidarity with people being targeted by murderous, out-of-control racist cops. And the screamers are going berserk, proving it was never about the flag or the anthem.

I quietly un-friended her. She probably won't notice that my posts are missing.

I feel bad. We had a nice, rewarding friendship in school. But some things are more important.
