His parent (mom) IS his manager.

And yeah, he's a little snot-nose. Growing up to be an adult-size snot-nose, I guess. And talented? Um... how 'bout I get back to you on that? I'm old enough to have lived through the Beatles era, and Justin Bieber is unworthy even to have John Lennon pee on him.

SHIT that guy is pissing me off!

If I were that judge, I'd have declared him in contempt LONG ago.

You are OVER-RULED, asshole.

GREAT post, Californeeway!

The drummer in my kid's band is a childhood cancer survivor. His parents are able to keep him on their insurance for another three years while he gets on his feet, and it made a HUGE difference to them. And even while they're pretty conservative about a lot of things, they are GREATLY appreciative of this.

Count me as an Obama supporter. Yes he's not perfect. Who here is? Look what he's up against. And TRUE, the ACA is far from perfect as well. BUT AT LEAST IT'S SOMETHING!!! It's a START!!! Hell, I wanted single-payer and then the public option. I got this instead. But this is helping people, which was the whole idea in the beginning.

I'd love to go all out for 100% purity. I'd love to have it all MY way. That's not possible, especially with the obstruction seemingly EVERYWHERE. But just imagine where we'd be if we had another republi-CON in the White House. We'd have NOTHING. ACIDIC's drummer's parents would have NOTHING. You would have NOTHING as far as coverage for your daughter - and for yourself. As a whole, we women would have NO FURTHER JURISDICTION over OUR bodies. We'd be boots-on-the-ground in Syria already. We'd have Pirates on Parade throughout the Cabinet. We'd have Yosemite and Yellowstone paved over and lined with McDonalds and Walmarts - with the fracking people and drillers and strip miners and clear-cutters unrestrained and running amok through there already. We'd have two more asshole knuckle-draggers on the Supreme Court instead of Sotomayor and Kagan, and I'd be willing to bet that they'd both be Anglo males. And for Latinos? It'd be a non-stop wall-to-wall walls and government-approved "Fuck 'em's." We'd be Somalia in some many words. And more.

(Sorry - maybe I'm just getting cantankerous because I've got the Zimmerman trial on the TV over there and that damn Don West dude is just making me wanna throw something at the TV. "You disagree every time I make a ruling." DAMN!!! Glad I'm not that judge having to put up with that! Bad enough being a viewer...)

Oh yeah, the nuns! We were all convinced they had no legs! And that they were bald.

No way to tell under those heavy head-to-toe habits.

And I find Gregorian chants utterly intoxicating!!! The weaving, echoing melodies just sort of float you away into this Zen place.

I know that stream of consciousness on the way to Communion. Heck, all through Mass in one way or other. When we weren't flirting with the altar boys, that is. That came a little later.

Welcome to DU, Californeeway!

Glad you're here. This whole sordid Zimmerman mess is just sickening. Many of us here have been commiserating and gnashing our teeth about it. It just points up SOOOOOOO many wrongs in this country. In - would you believe, the 21st Century AD?

I fear he's gonna walk, and then take it as justification for what he did - for which he's expressed no remorse. Told that-guy-whose-name-rhymes-with-Vanity that it was "God's plan." WTF???????

Unbelievable.

July 11, 2013

Indeed, there were so many inconsistencies in Zimmerman's story, and his behavior

strongly suggests he's unrepentant. So what if he gets off - and then figures that this is "God's will," too, as he originally told that-guy-whose-name-rhymes-with-Vanity on Pox Noise. I suspect with that mindset he will interpret an acquittal as an affirmation and validation that he did the "right" thing.

Also heard some interesting speculation - yes, SPECULATION, on Randi Rhodes' show today from at least two people, one of whom was a combat veteran who called in to talk about the effect of firing guns at close range - including the gun that Zimmerman used that night. The caller said that was one of many guns with which he had quite a bit of experience. Both callers I heard described the very close quarters when Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin were scuffling on the ground and Zimmerman's on the bottom and only has a few inches of room to shoot someone on top of him as Trayvon was at that moment (whose motions by then were indicative of someone who was trying to pull away, according to the callers and some of the testimony offered in court). The callers both pointed out that the recoil from that close in, in which Zimmerman's gun hand was presumably at chest level with the length of barrel that would put it somewhat parallel to Zimmerman's face, would smack the barrel of that gun directly into his nose, and very likely knocking the back of his head farther back, and sharply, on the concrete.

That, in turn, would be consistent with the wounds described in testimony - in which Zimmerman's injuries were described by the medical examiner who examined him - as minimal, and not consistent with a severely broken nose and maybe a cracked or broken skull in the back plus much more profuse bleeding, or a concussion. NONE of which Zimmerman had. Such wounds as Zimmerman described would have necessitated stitches. NONE were necessary. He didn't even seek immediate medical treatment. And he wound up with a band-aid on the back of his head and nose wounds that sealed up rather quickly thereafter. Excuse me? You don't come away from having your head "bashed 20 or 30 times into concrete" and come away with a freakin' BAND-AID!!!!!

Further - how could one conclude that Trayvon punched him in the nose when there was NO blood found on his hands OR his knuckles, Zimmerman's or otherwise? Faces bleed easily and a lot because there are so many tiny capillaries feeding vitally important things like the mouth, lips, nose, and eyes, and surrounding skin. And with the interiors of the mouth and nose and mucus membranes - those capillaries are all VERY close to the surface and thereby much easier to break.

I just don't see ANY indication or evidence that supports Zimmerman's being acquitted. NONE. He decided on the spot that this was a nogoodnik who needed a different fate than those "fucking punks" who "always get away." Seems an awful lot like malice aforethought to me.

Dang! No I didn't. But it was a very nice thing - even though we didn't understand Latin

and we were too young to get into the Latin classes only offered to upperclassmen.

Besides, in our standard Missals, as you opened to any page to follow along with the Mass, one side of the page was in Latin and the English translation was on the other side of the page. So, no problemo!!! I probably learned a little Latin by default simply because of that.

This was when I was in grade school. But I remember it quite fondly. Art major here - so the visual arts factored BIGTIME in my youth. Still do. I even appreciated how the priest spent most of the Mass with his back turned to the congregation, always hunched over the altar behind him. No problem!!! More time for daydreaming! Sort of a "okay, Father, you do your thing over there and I'll do my thing over here and I won't bother you or make noise and you can just do your little thing with your back turned. Go ahead and ignore me. PLEASE go ahead and ignore me ('cause that way, you won't see me - ahem - DAYDREAMING!!!)!!!

AND there was none of this frenetic stand-up/sit-down/kneel/stand-up/kneel/stand-up/sit-down/stand-up/kneel crap all the time - making you get up and down and up and down for what seemed like 90 times per Mass, and you could never just settle in and relax and - well - dammit - DAYDREAM! I felt like a marionette or a bouncing ball half the time. SO annoying! Can't I just kinda sit here for the duration and kinda just hang out and be mellow? And can you light up some more of that neat spicy incense again while yer at it?

Confession time! We used to grab a few of the wafers from the chalice at the back of the church as you entered. You'd pick one, put it it in the chalice because you were going to have it during Communion. We usually pinched a few extra to snack on during the proceedings. Well, they weren't consecrated yet so we figured no harm, no foul. And one of the kids in the neighborhood who was an altar boy said his friends all called them "Jeezits"!!! STILL makes me laugh! All this stuff still makes me laugh!

You do realize why you go to Catholic school, don't you?

To generate material!!!!!!!

July 10, 2013

Wow - a MOST valuable post, libodem!

Your conclusions at the start seem most reasonable and accurate to me, as applied to the circumstances here. And your suggested tactics are VERY valuable. And if this jackass was supposedly studying self-defense, for what? Several hours three times a week for how many months? SURELY he would have known this.

No. I think he INTENDED to do this. With malice aforethought. The instant he spotted Trayvon in the dark, and made his snap-judgment. He clearly just made up his mind what was what, in that instant, and decided for himself - one-man judge, jury, and executioner that he was - that this was one "fucking punk" who wasn't gonna get away - and he himself was just the man to make sure of it.

It just makes me sick.

July 10, 2013

And that upsets me even more. They'll all take it as validation. And justification.

They'll figure they just got a free pass to gun down anybody whose looks they don't like. That WILL be their takeaway from this, if Zimmerman is acquitted. We will likely see more of this. That concerns me HUGELY.

July 10, 2013

That's my "Hollerin' Howard"! (HEART!!!!!)

That "50 State Strategy" of his was a clear WINNER. And Debbie and the Lunkheads at the DNC chose to steer away from it. And look what happened. Our 50-state flank was dropped and left wide open, and look what happened. The very next election cycle - 2010 - went straight to Hell. Teabagger Hell. How's that one workin' out for you, DNC??? More important: how's that one workin' out for THE REST OF US who have to live with the results of your abject and total negligence?????
