That's not what the Dept. of Homeland Security reported -

back in 2009. Its report cited "right"-wing extremist groups as the source of most danger and most threats against America. And the wrong-wingers yowled so loud that Janet Napolitano retracted the report.

She shouldn't have done ANY such thing. She should have released it again, then and there!

Isn't that something like the Ann Frank quote?

Paraphrasing -

"I still believe people are basically good at heart."

A keeper. I love this. And I still love him, too.

Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.

So simple, and so pure, and so true.

Welcome to DU, Loudestlib! Let's just imagine today if romney were president. YIKES!!!

Complaining that President Obama wanted more police, firefighters, and teachers - the nerve of him wanting to "waste" all that taxpayers' money. Cut back, cut back, cut back.

Another DUer, TeamPooka, posted a thread about that today. Sure. Boston, for one, could do with a few less firefighters and police and teachers right about now, too... Costs too much!!! Those poor millionaires and billionaires are SO disadvantaged and put-upon...

Yeah. I remember that. Makes my blood run cold.

Yeah, you BASTARD. Tell that to Boston TODAY. How we need to cut back on those annoying, expensive first responders. How we should be doing more with less. That pissant attitude is what's killing the broadcasting industry I loved. Cut back. Cut back. Load up those remaining with more work to pick up the slack, because heaven forbid you hire any new people. And make those who are lucky still to have a job take a pay cut to keep it.

Oh dear God. That's a hand-made First Communion banner he's holding up in the 2nd photo.

Is this the family in which the mom is now hospitalized with head injuries and the little sister lost a leg? I can't even imagine the anguish for that poor dad.

Dear God...

No words...
April 16, 2013

Definitely.

THIS:

"When you view at the video feed & photos - look at the police, fire, emergency medical responders - and remember they are putting their lives on the line. They are not paid nearly enough as far as I am concerned!

"Remember this when some idiot politician wants to downsize, de-fund, demote, privatize or ban collective bargaining of fire, police, and emergency responders!"

April 16, 2013

Copy that.

SO sad and horrifying!!! That could be ANYBODY.

Sadly, too, we in America are so insulated from this kind of thing. How many times have we seen and heard the news of bombings in Tel Aviv and Damascus and Cairo and Baghdad and ...

It's a brutal wake-up when it happens just down the street here in a presumably safe American city.

So sad. My prayers go out to the victims and those who were otherwise traumatized. And ALSO with the investigators!

Welcome to DU, TekGryphon!

Glad you're here! I think it's entirely plausible. Once upon a time I think it might have been called reverse psychology. There are just too many knee-jerking jerks on the other side of the aisle who automatically oppose ANYTHING President Obama gets near. We've seen this repeatedly with the proposals that he's taken straight out of their playbooks, stuff they supported - and even introduced - merely because he got behind it. And for heaven's sake, they simply must oppose anything Obama puts forward.

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
