Hey Amy Pascal - if you wrote that, then that IS who and what you are. Nobody was holding a gun to your head and forcing you to write those things. Nobody held your family hostage and forced you to do that. You should GO. As in - go AWAY.
Sadly, because of this, our "values" ARE nothing.
So much blah-blah-blah about "our way of life," and "our values," and "Our A-MARE-ican VAL-lues." Our "moral authority."
WHAT values? WHAT "moral authority"? We don't HAVE any "moral authority" anymore. Waterboarding washed all that down the drain. Our "values" are non-existent. They mean NOTHING. They're worth SHIT - actually, to be more precise, they're worth one of those lovely and delectable hummus-and-raisins enemas that were being served, in our name and on our dime, to people in custody who we decided we didn't like.
It makes me almost literally ill. Physically ill. How can we face the world anymore? Answer: WE CAN'T. We don't have Thing One to say about it anymore. That's GONE. We don't just feel shame now. We ARE shame. And that shame is us. Especially since there's no really serious drive or commitment or, evidently, any taste - for dragging those offenders from dick cheney and george w bush on down the food chain to justice and forcing them to answer for their war crimes. Not just crimes. WAR crimes.
Makes me sick.

Glad you're here. More company for miserable me. I'm just freakin' heartsick over this. I feel like I've been sucker-punched.
And YEAH, I saw the Abu Ghraib photos. YEAH, I've heard the accusations. YEAH, I've heard the excuses and bullshit. YEAH, I've read about this ever since the bush/cheney nightmare kicked this into high gear.
But it doesn't make these revelations now - any easier to stomach. It's like having an elderly relative who's going down long, slow, hard, and painful. You know the end is coming. You know nobody lives forever. You know their death will bring an end to their suffering. You know it's near. But still - when it actually comes, you're still at a loss. You're still knocked on your butt. You're still shoved off-balance.
Same here. Miserable - over what's happened to my country. It's just beyond discouraging sometimes.
Makes me sick to my stomach. And keeps me in that state.

This IS who we are. And this IS what we are. Proof-positive. The America we all grew up believing in, and being proud of - is gone. Dead. Buried.

It just shows you what kind of individual is on that other side. What kind of mentality rules that other side. Bullies and sadists and people with severe anger issues. And unfortunately, a lot of 'em have guns, too. And we have the cave-men and cave-women. Those who cave, caved before, caved last night, and plan to cave even more in the next two years.

To be painfully honest - our side doesn't deserve to win if we "fight" like this. If "cave" is our favorite verb. We don't deserve to win if we're going to "fight" like this. We just don't.
These assholes at the state level (where Debbie and friends snoozed, thankyouverymuch) - walker, snyder, and brownback!!! sam brownback got re-elected. UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE. With his SHIT track record and his absolute hose-job of the state of Kansas and what used to be its good credit rating. Just UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE. And rick scott. He was supposed to be the poster boy for unpopularity. WHAT THE FUCK, FLORIDA????? You WANT this??? This is okay with you? SERIOUSLY???? UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE.

Glad you're here! Stunning. But your point is well-taken. I'm seldom surprised by these stories anymore. Many of those "MY gun rights trump any-and-all of your rights" just seem to be little more than homicides waiting to happen.
