calimary
calimary's JournalThe first time he actually made me happy about anything he said was in 2008.
I remember where I was, too. Driving up into the Sepulveda Pass, listening to all-news radio and a report about Frank Luntz's grim pronouncements about the GOP's chances in the upcoming general election. We had Barack Obama and Luntz & Co had John McCain. Luntz talked about the runaway Obama train and ruefully said "I don't know how to beat this guy."
That asshole had made me grind my teeth in disgust FAR too many times. But, finally, he was making me smile, smile, smile. From then, until this very moment while I write this post about it. What a moment! SO damn satisfying!
Thinks he's a desperado or something, I guess...
Welcome to DU, DemInND!
You've sure got that right. I wonder if they really get what century this is. And I find myself wondering that, a lot.
Welcome to DU, ILFightinDem!
That's a good analysis, and a realistic one. The West will provide a wonderful sweeping finisher!
Eight pm out here. That's when they'll cue the John Williams fanfare on MSNBC and call it. I was working in 1980 when Carter conceded back east, well before we were finished voting out here. Sheesh - it was still daylight here in L.A.!!! Wasn't even dark yet! I was finished for the day - or so I thought. And we'd kinda kicked back and relaxed to watch the returns (dreading the worst - that Reagan would win, which he did). And my beeper went off. I was called back to work to cover the growing outrage out here, by voters who felt they'd been cheated by the networks' early call. That was a horrendously frustrating night.
Welcome to DU, semby2!
Those maps are most interesting. The bigger her numbers, the better.
But ILFightinDem makes a good point. They won't call the election til after the West Coast voting closes, and if she's in the 190s by then, she cleans up with the rest of it. CA, OR, and WA are hers for sure. Hawaii is the "cherry on top". Alaska doesn't have enough electoral votes to make any difference.
I especially hope Heck goes down.
And ANY Congressional seat - I'll take any of 'em.
That recent report from Rachel Maddow that when President Obama leaves office, his next big project involves Democrats coming back at the state level, and taking over state legislatures (and hopefully, some governors' offices). Our side SERIOUSLY dropped the ball on that one, and the CONS were able almost literally to run the table in the state capitols, and lock in state controls - and all the damage that goes with it, from making and passing all kinds of stupid-ass laws, closing down Planned Parenthood clinics, restricting voting rights, fucking with gay rights and marriage equality, and all kinds of shitty stuff. THAT has to change! And the sooner the better!
I've been jumping for joy ever since I heard that report! Thanks, Obama!!!!
Welcome to DU, Dracaena!
I liked how the frosting kind of color-keyed to her outfit. And the swirl patterns that look like stylized roses. Pretty cake! I'd vote for chocolate for the cake inside. But then again, I ALWAYS vote for chocolate.
Clearly he doesn't think so.
He couldn't make it happen for himself, so now he's a professional hanger-on.
