Trump hires former Florida solicitor general in criminal probe of Mar-a-Lago documents

I seriously doubt that Corcoran or Bobb will be around much longer? They are both in deep doo-doo. Also, interesting that Putin's pal, Boris Epshteyn, continues to serve as "top legal adviser".

(snip)
Kise’s exact title is unclear. Boris Epshteyn continues to serve as a top legal adviser to Trump and de facto in-house counsel who helped hire attorneys Jim Trusty and Evan Corcoran.

Over the course of a year, the case that began as a records dispute with the National Archives metastasized into a full-blown criminal investigation that led to the FBI’s unprecedented search and seizure of numerous classified documents and secret records. Trump maintains the search was unjustified and he was legally in possession of the documents, a defense many legal experts dispute.

Trusty and Corcoran, who do not live in Florida, are expected to stay on the team for now, but those who understand prosecutions involving classified and sensitive records say Trump might need specialized counsel familiar with criminal cases involving classified documents if he’s indicted.

How do you steal top secret documents, threaten the security of the country, and....

...still play the victim?

You demand a "Special Master" because you don't trust the FBI.

You deny nothing.

You are being persecuted.

How do you remove yourself so far from any personal responsibility?

I am glad the former president is not in charge of any nuclear weapons at this time.

He is so desperate and disturbed at this time, there is no telling what he might do if his finger was on the nuclear trigger?

Maybe he would just drop a few targeted nukes along the Texas border to end the immigration problem?

We are lucky that he is no longer in the White House. Shame on those that put him there in the first place. They were just ignorant. They had no idea of his capacity for violence, in my opinion.

This is the first time in a long time that he has been unable to lie out of a predicament. Nobody seems to want to do violence in his name. It must be very disappointing for a narcissist?

And he is in a helluva predicament.

The FBI said they had already gone thru the boxes of documents that were seized August 8th...

They wanted Trump's Judge to know that there really was no need for a Special Master to look over the files. The job has already been done. Trump should have asked a little sooner.

But, if they have finished looking at all the documents, what do you think they have found?
Judging from the behavior of Donald Trump in the last couple of days, it must have been devastating? What was in his "safe"? What was in the box that was in his "closet" in his office? (Was it something he was recently working on?)

Trump looks very worried. He is trying to call his cult to march in the streets but no one seems to be listening. He is beginning to look desperate.

When will we know what was in these latest boxes from Mar-a-lago?

When the only tool you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

So it is with Trump supporters who own guns. They have it - they must use it. It's all they have. So, naturally, they would be supportive of a "civil war". After all, they have the advantage. They have the guns.

It is the guns that give them the false sense of superiority and security. They will resort to violence to defeat the liberals, if it is required. Everybody looks like an enemy.

The gun is their hammer. They are ready to use it to drive their enemies into the dirt, like a ten-penny nail. They have no fear of any opposition.

Their gun defines who they are and what they stand for. Take away their hammer and they would be lost. There would be no meaning in their lives.

Attempting to change the subject...

Rather than talk about stolen secrets in the closet and espionage, let's talk about "riots" and violence and getting back into the White House.

It has worked to some degree but folks are not going to forget that some asshole, a former president, stole boxes of documents and moved them to his home in Mar-a-lago. Some of them were of the highest Top Secret classification. It is so shocking that most folks cannot wrap their minds around it.

And the Republicans, just as they did after the attempted coup of January 6th, were very critical or silent for a few days, then jumped back on the Trump bandwagon.

They seem to be ready to do the same with the stolen documents. It looked so bad, and it was, that most of the Republicans hid out for a few days or refused to comment on the theft of America's secrets. But once again, they seem ready to jump back on the bandwagon.

Their Leader, Benedict Donald, the thief, has been teetering on the edge of panic with his off-the-wall attacks. He doesn't want anyone to talk about espionage and his foiled attempt to keep all the secrets for himself.

It appears that the Republicans are, once again, ready to jump in the flames to protect their Dear Leader.

We are at a place we have never been before.

People are looking for a precedent. There is not one.

We are left with our own instincts and our inward compass.

It is similar to a war zone. We have to improvise daily in order to make progress.

We cannot afford to go into a deep sleep or let our guard down.

We are fighting for our democracy.

The enemy is determined and delusional.

We must defeat their delusions.

I'm following Merrick Garland.

He said he was going to follow the law. I have no choice but to believe him.

There are those that have criticized him for going too slow but he's not going to indict anyone unless he knows he has an ironclad case. I trust that he knows where he is going.

He is gathering evidence. In my opinion, he would like to get enough evidence to persuade even Republicans that something has to be done. He understands that it is almost impossible to indict and convict an ex-president unless both sides see the merit in the prosecution.

That might take a while and it may never happen.

We do not know what evidence will turn up in the next few weeks or months?

The country needs some sort of consensus about the nature and the seriousness of the crimes before they can come together.

That is a big job but I am supporting Merrick Garland at this time. I see no other alternative.

As much as I would like to see Donald Trump indicted tomorrow, I do not believe that it would work out for the best for the country.

Other than threats of riots and violence, does Trump have any more cards left?

I suppose he could get together another rally of his violent supporters, and call it a Celebration of the January 6th Patriot Movement, or some such rot, and incite them to some sort of violence or "civil disobedience"?

Or he could file suit against someone, Joe Biden or the FBI or the maker of Hunter Biden laptop. Anyone, just to get it in the Court and delay as much as possible?

He could start another rumor, like the one he did with Obama's birth certificate?

But what can he do to keep the evidence under wraps and to keep from answering for his crimes?

Is the clock ticking down on the criminal Trump?

Hasn't he played about all of his cards?
