Is Mark Meadows cooperating with the DOJ ?

We haven't heard much from Mr Meadows in the last few weeks?

We did read that Trump's closest advisers told him that he should not be associating with Mr Meadows. How should we read that?

A corollary to the Meadows story is that Trump's lawyers are now negotiating with the DOJ. And that they are negotiating over the claim of "executive privilege"?

If one were to put all these stories together, one might assume that the "executive privilege" claim is about Mark Meadows and what he might be telling the prosecutors of the DOJ?

Also, another story that has been making the rounds is that Trump expects to be "indicted".

Could it be that there is a big story that is getting ready to fall?

In re: DOJ Investigation ?

Is there a bigger story than January 6th, electoral fraud, and seditious conspiracy, that they are investigating? What could be bigger?

Some folks have suspected that the Trump crime family has been involved in international money laundering for a long time. Is the FBI investigating other crimes that are not on the radar at the present time? Have they been waiting to gather evidence on the big bust?

Few doubt that there were crimes committed before Donald Trump stole the White House. Was there espionage? Was he working with Russia and Putin? Was he a Russian agent? Nothing sounds too bizarre with this bunch of criminals.

Could it be that the FBI is looking at a much bigger picture than the one we have been discussing?

Or is the truth more than the American people can handle?

Do Republicans compete with each other to see who can tell the biggest lie?

Especially if they can be seen as "owning the libs"?

Sometimes I think that is the case.

I see Rick Scott at CPAC and he is totally off the rails. Even Republicans don't believe him. Then Marco Rubio is talking about taking off some tax cut that would make millionaires pay more, as if he is actually against such a deal?

And when they go on FOX, all rules are out the window. They can lie to their hearts content. And they usually do.

Have they always been this way? Or is it a more recent phenomena?

"Here, hold my beer!", says the next one in line.

Donald Trump at CPAC Dallas complains, 'I'm always being persecuted'

https://www.dallasnews.com/news/politics/2022/08/06/donald-trump-at-cpac-dallas-complains-im-always-being-persecuted/

(snip)
WASHINGTON – Donald Trump brought his dark views of Joe Biden’s presidency to Dallas on Saturday night, warning that “American civilization will collapse” if he’s not returned to power and reciting his oft-peddled falsehoods about the 2020 election.

“The election was rigged and stolen, and now our country is being systematically destroyed. And everybody knows it. ... I ran twice and won twice,” he declared at the Conservative Political Action Conference. “America is on the edge of an abyss. And our movement is the only force on earth that can save it.”

“We have to seize this opportunity to deal with the radical left socialists and fascists,” Trump continued, rallying activists for the November midterms.

An "indictment" is nothing more than a formal notice to a person telling him or her that they are...

...believed to have committed a crime.

https://www.justice.gov/usao/justice-101/charging

(snip)
After the prosecutor studies the information from investigators and the information they gather from talking with the individuals involved, the prosecutor decides whether to present the case to the grand jury. When a person is indicted, they are given formal notice that it is believed that they committed a crime. The indictment contains the basic information that informs the person of the charges against them.

For potential felony charges, a prosecutor will present the evidence to an impartial group of citizens called a grand jury. Witnesses may be called to testify, evidence is shown to the grand jury, and an outline of the case is presented to the grand jury members. The grand jury listens to the prosecutor and witnesses, and then votes in secret on whether they believe that enough evidence exists to charge the person with a crime. A grand jury may decide not to charge an individual based upon the evidence, no indictment would come from the grand jury. All proceedings and statements made before a grand jury are sealed, meaning that only the people in the room have knowledge about who said what about whom. The grand jury is a constitutional requirement for certain types of crimes (meaning it is written in the United States Constitution) so that a group of citizens who do not know the defendant can make an unbiased decision about the evidence before voting to charge an individual with a crime.

Grand juries are made up of approximately 16-23 members. Their proceedings can only be attended by specific persons. For example, witnesses who are compelled to testify before the grand jury are not allowed to have an attorney present. At least twelve jurors must concur in order to issue an indictment.

People are beginning to realize that no matter how much they dislike Democrats...

...they are not trying to destroy democracy. They are not trying to take "freedoms" away from people. (They are faulted for trying to give too many people too many freedoms)

They are not treating women like second-class citizens. They do not claim to have the right to tell women what to do with their own bodies. They do not claim to be the morality police and make judgemental decisions about other people's sex lives.

Democrats are not trying to impose their religious beliefs on others.

Democrats are not scheming to steal elections illegally. They are not trying to bribe state or county officials to commit crimes so they can win an election.

Democrats are not sucking up to authoritarians from other countries, like Viktor Orban from Hungary.

Despite all their flaws, Democrats look much more American than Republicans. They have no intention of attacking our nation's Capitol because Joe Biden says an election was "rigged".

No Party is perfect but they are not the same.

The guest speaker tomorrow night at CPAC is Donald J Trump.

What will he say?

It is being reported that his lawyers are negotiating with the DOJ.

Should the DOJ monitor Mr Trump's comments tomorrow night to see how virulent and confrontational he is with his comments, to determine his sincerity in negotiating? I don't think anyone will be fooled by his comments or his actions?

It will be interesting to see how he addresses the gaggle of extremists that have gathered to hear him speak.

What happens when an immovable object meets an unstoppable force?

It's an age-old question. To apply it to America's political reality, it would be, what happens when an ideology of conspiracies and lies meet an ideology of the status quo with rules and verifiable evidence? That seems to be where we are as a nation, in my opinion.

What are the consequences? Where does it end? How does it end?

Is it possible for it to end well? That doesn't seem to be part of the plan. It's like two locomotives going full speed toward each other and there is nothing to stop them from colliding. What happens? Calamity and devastation.

It will do little good if one locomotive decides to stop but the other continues at full speed. The end result will be the same.

What is the answer?
