Gold price fall points to global deflation

The rapid fall in the price of gold over the past few days—its biggest plunge in more than 30 years—is an indication that deflationary tendencies are strengthening throughout the world economy.

The fall in the gold price, despite the flood of money into financial markets indicates that other, more powerful, forces are at work. An examination of the operation of quantitative easing indicates the underlying causes.
The official reason for the historically unprecedented measures being undertaken by the world’s central banks—the injection of trillions of dollars into the monetary system through the purchases of government bonds—is that such emergency action is needed to revive the economy. But the inflow of money is not going beyond the confines of the banks and finance houses.

Richard Jewell

Richard A. Jewell (December 17, 1962 – August 29, 2007) was an American police officer who, while working as a security guard for Piedmont College,[1] became known in connection with the Centennial Olympic Park bombing at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Discovering a pipe bomb on the park grounds, Jewell alerted police and helped to evacuate the area before the bomb exploded, saving many people from injury or death. Initially hailed by the media as a hero, Jewell was later considered a suspect. Jewell's case is considered an example of the damage that can be done by reporting based on unreliable or incomplete information.[2]

Despite having never being charged, he underwent a "trial by media" with great toll on his personal and professional life. Eventually he was completely exonerated; Eric Robert Rudolph was later found to have been the bomber.[3][4] In 2006, Governor Sonny Perdue publicly thanked Jewell on behalf of the state of Georgia for saving the lives of those at the Olympics.[5]

If John McCain had won in 2008, we would have two more conservative justices on the SCOTUS.

We would still be in Iraq. We would also be in Libya and Syria, and more than likely Iran. Also, more and more Americans would have limited access to health insurance. DADT would still be in effect in our military. And Sarah Palin would be your Vice President.

If Mitt Romney would have won in 2012, Bush's tax cuts for the very wealthy would have been made permanent and even expanded, and more than likely, he would add another conservative to the SCOTUS. Finally, we would be preparing for the eventual invasion of Iran.

So, if you're feeling regret over voting for Obama, then you really need to educate yourself.

Your dog has no perception of the internet

If you were to put your dog in a room full of PCs, laptops, tablets, smart phones, etc. and those devices all were connected to the internet, your dog would have no understanding of how to use these devices to surf the net. Your dog lacks the dexterity, intelligence, and sensory perception to manipulate the devices to surf the net.

Now, do we as human beings have the dexterity, intelligence, and sensory perception to fully comprehend the universe? to detect "life" on other planets?

Are we looking at other planets and galaxies like a dog is looking at a room of computers all connected to the internet?

Zack Greinke breaks collarbone

SAN DIEGO -- San Diego Padres slugger Carlos Quentin rushed the mound and wrestled Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Zack Greinke to the ground after getting hit by a pitch Thursday night, leading to a benches-clearing brawl between the teams that left Greinke with a broken left collarbone.

After he was plunked on the left shoulder in the sixth inning, Quentin started walking toward the mound. Greinke appeared to say something, and Quentin then charged the 2009 AL Cy Young Award winner.

..snip...

After the game, Kemp confronted Quentin as the two players were leaving Petco Park. Kemp walked up to Quentin near the players' exit, and the two went nose-to-nose. Padres pitcher Clayton Richard separated them, and security and police quickly broke it up.

Kemp was angry after finding out the severity of Greinke's injury.

Thatcher supported Pinochet. Pinochet's secret police raped and tortured people.

When General Pinochet overthrew Salvador Allende's democratically elected government in September 1973 the women were student activists aged 20 and 22. Ms Godoy-Navarrete was arrested shortly afterwards. Hundreds had already been killed, but she was comparatively lucky, released after being beaten and given electric shock treatment. Ms De Witt escaped the first wave of arrests.

But with the creation of the secret police force, Dina, and their specialist torture centres came a new sweep. Ms Godoy-Navarrete was picked up in December 1974 and Ms De Witt a few months later. They ended up in two of the most notorious of the torture houses, Jose Domingo Canas and the Villa Grimaldi. Their families did not know where they were. Ms Godoy- Navarrete's husband, Roberto, also wanted, was in hiding.

Prisoners at both centres were subjected to electric shocks, severe beatings, suspensions from ceilings until their wrists tore, and rapes.

Ms Godoy-Navarrete recalled: "The torture took place daily. We would be blindfolded, strapped to beds and then it would begin. There were electric shocks administered to all over our bodies, and then there would be a rape.

Thatcher and Pinochet
Baroness Thatcher demanded his immediate release in a letter to the Times newspaper on Thursday.

In her letter, Baroness Thatcher wrote: "By his actions the [Falklands] war was shortened and many British lives were saved."

It is understood that while Chile did not express open support for the UK during the conflict, it did provide material assistance, most notably in allowing the SAS to set up a base on Chilean soil.

Let's Focus on the mid-term elections in 2014, not Hillary Clinton

There will be plenty of time and opportunity for everyone to unfairly and hysterically dump on Hillary after the 2014 elections.

That is all.
