RecsBiden-Harris campaign statement on new report that TFG is asking oil executives to contribute $1 billion to his campaign
Trump promised to scrap climate laws if US oil bosses donated $1billion to his campaign
(The Guardian) Donald Trump dangled a brazen deal in front of some of the top US oil bosses last month, proposing that they give him $1bn for his White House re-election campaign and vowing that once back in office he would instantly tear up Joe Bidens environmental regulations and prevent any new ones, according to a bombshell new report. According to the Washington Post, the former US president made his jaw-dropping pitch, which the paper described as remarkably blunt and transactional, at a dinner at his Mar-a-Lago home and club.
Trump's "Lean" Ground Game Alarms State GOP Groups
(Washington Post) Strategists for both major parties expect Democrats to raise and spend more than Republicans over the coming months, a dynamic that has been magnified by the significant legal costs Trumps fundraising apparatus has absorbed to defend him in state and federal courts. The situation has alarmed GOP officials in key states like Arizona, Georgia and Michigan, who have yet to receive promised funding, staff or even briefings on the new plans since the Trump team took control of the Republican National Committee in March.
Lawrence O'Donnell: Why Trump's lawyer called him the 'orange turd' during Stormy testimony
Stormy Daniels turned the tables on Trump. And he had to watch it happen.
(MSNBC) This week the presumptive Republican presidential nominee has been sitting in a courtroom at 100 Center St. in New York, where adult film actor Stormy Daniels is testifying in Donald Trumps criminal trial, including recounting the sexual encounter she had with him in a hotel room at Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Daniels testimony, which continues Thursday, has been the kind of history-making, norms-crushing, mind-bending scene Americans have grown inured to. On Tuesday, sitting about 10 feet away from Trump, Daniels testified: There was an imbalance of power, for sure. but I was not threatened verbally or physically. That imbalance was, at least for a few hours, tipped against Trump.
'I would have given her an F': Trump lawyer's 'rookie mistake' singled out by expert
(Raw Story) On Friday morning Donald Trump lawyer Susan Necheles was raked over the coals by two former prosecutors who felt she flubbed her cross-examination of adult film star Stormy Daniels in a Manhattan courtroom on Thursday. Appearing on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO), who served as a prosecutor before moving on to politics, and ex-Assistant United States Attorney Andrew Weissmann claimed the former president's lawyer went down a road she didn't need to follow and it came back to bite her before the jury.
Paul Manafort, poised to rejoin Trump world, aided Chinese media deal
(Washington Post) Manafort has been assisting an effort to launch a Netflix-like mobile streaming and entertainment platform in China that, according to corporate documents, has the endorsement of the Chinese government. In an email to The Post, Manafort said he was not involved with China and has had nothing to do with China, including Chinese businesses, government, individuals, or anything else, but acknowledged that he was asked to make introductions to U.S. studios and potential U.S. partners in the venture.
Marjorie Taylor Greene faces GOP backlash after failed bid to oust speaker
(Atlanta Journal-Constitution) A throng of media crowded around U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on Wednesday evening on the steps of the U.S. Capitol, straining to hear her angry reaction after a bipartisan coalition of House members dismissed her efforts to oust Mike Johnson as House speaker. But also nearby, still within earshot, were roughly a dozen other GOP lawmakers who wanted to make sure the media knew they were outraged, too. Congressman Rich McCormick, R-Suwanee, said even some lawmakers who like Greene and are unhappy with Johnson did not approve of her surprise move to force a vote on her motion to vacate.
Biden administration, civil groups sue Iowa over immigrant arrest law
(Reuters) The administration of U.S. President Joe Biden filed a lawsuit on Thursday seeking to block an Iowa law authorizing the arrest and prosecution of people who have returned to the U.S. after being deported, as a growing number of Republican-led states consider similar proposals. Iowa's law makes "illegal reentry" into the state a crime punishable by up to two years in prison and authorizes state judges to order that individuals return to their home countries after serving sentences.
