Related: About this forumWe, the undersigned members of Democratic Underground
Hereby pledge that we will post ABSOLUTELY NOTHING anywhere on this website (including the Lounge, GD, LBN, and the Bernie Sanders group) after June 15, 2016 until such time as (a) Bernie Sanders has secured the nomination of the Democratic Party or (b) the General Election is over, whichever comes first.
Enjoy yourselves, those who remain. The rest of us will be at http://jackpineradicals.org/ continuing the fight.

(7,006 posts)Really? OMG! Does the 1-6 Jury Decision give them a clue folks have a right to say if they will cease posting at DU or Not, if they want. What rule does that "violate"? NOT ONE.

(28,520 posts)Count me in. I've been here 12 years and it's hard to contemplate a life without DU, but it will be hard to stomach the gloating echo chamber. And as long as they're alienating the progressive left, might as well just rename the site Democratic Mainstream, 'cause there won't be anything Underground about it by that point.

I'll miss the photo group, but I've just about had it with DU.

(687 posts)I joined this Board in 2004 when friends from other boards suggested it to me. At the time, opposition to the Iraq War and what was then called The Bush Doctrine was why I was posting.
The Bush Doctrine as a term is not used by the President or Secretary Clinton, but it is now our national security policy. It is an explicit repudiation of Deterrence, which was the bi-partisan consensus that won the Cold War. Deterrence is now down the Memory Hole, and the idea of the USA using its supposed "power" to change regimes that displease our leaders is the new Normal.
Hillary supporters on this very board say that since Hillary "apologized" for her vote on the Iraq War Resolution, we are assholes to hold it against her. And of course they remain in stone cold silence about Hillary's expressed desire to change the regime in Syria and to expand NATO to Ukraine and Georgia. None of that is supposed to matter -- we are just being purists or otherwise shitheads to even question the Foreign Policy Experience of Mrs. C.
To them, war forever is the New Normal. And in that New Normalcy, there will never be affordable education or nationally financed health care.
I have no desire to talk to these people about anything. They are my political opponents.
Have a nice life, DU. I'll be gone, too, as soon as loyalty to the War Forever candidate is a condition of membership.

(517 posts)Sad but true. Better than ten years I have had my thoughts challenged, my thoughts affirmed, and my ideas pushed and pulled to the point that I learned a lot. I don't post much but I am here a lot. I got my news here, and got my beliefs challenged and affirmed. I am DU. But am not nor will I ever be a conformist. I will miss what we used to have here. Thought provoking, well defended arguments based on evidence. Since I am a University Professor I cannot do otherwise.
June 15, I hardly knew ya!

(13,685 posts)There are ways to say what you want without breaking the rules.
For one, speaking out about how if Hillary should act a certain way at the convention would help get her elected would not be frowned upon by the PTB of DU.
Don't ever give up. Keep fighting. Stay involved. Just learn how to duck and weave. Like Ali's rope-a-dope.

(185 posts)Oh I'll still lurk but after the 15 that's all I will do. To put it bluntly they don't want us so why hang around so I've already made the prep work on doing that the minute DK did this (rightfully) expecting DU to do the same.

(10,131 posts)Love Bernie. Can't agree with Hillary but can't stand Trump way more.
United we stand. Divided we fall. But I was raised to not tolerate the dishonesty of Richard Nixon and in my view, Hillary is similarly dishonest like Nixon.
A thread of good people leaving is sad to read.
I'm distressed. I still don't know what I'm going to do.

(65,185 posts)If she turns her back on progressives like I expect right now, criticism will likely be limited. I have no ill will towards this site. If they want to be a strict Party website, they can be, but JPR forums fit better with my views. I am a Democrat but not happy with the party. Bernie has been exciting and has given me hope.

(29,294 posts)that it will not be apparent who the nominee is. I am very encouraged by the recent CA polls -even though they're just polls they are looking consistent. It looks to me like Californians hate trump and are aware that Bernie beats him more easily than Clinton does. This is a message that never seemed to get through anyplace else but it might happen. Plus if the polls under represent cellphone users... It just all looks good. I've also been speaking to a number of Californians though I'm on the other coast and they seem to feel a similar pulse. They are saying that his supporters are getting the importance of continuing to vote till the polls close, not when MSM calls it for Clinton. Social media info sharing to get Bernie elected is on fire, I'm told.
I'm thinking that Bernie has a decent chance of really shaking things up and it will be a Golden State for him... and us.
If that happens it'll be fun to be here on DU - for kicks!!! Right?!

(11,175 posts)As I understand the rules, we won't be required to post pro-Clinton cheerleading. Instead, if you don't plan to vote for Clinton, just don't use DU to push that view. We can certainly talk about downticket races (Canova versus DWS), as well as issues that come up.
