So, now what?
So who is Vic Fazio?
Fazio currently works as a Senior Advisor in the Washington office of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld and sits on the board of Northrop Grumman. He serves as co-chair of the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation, a public policy think tank.He also sits on the Council on American Politics, bringing together leaders from across the nation to address issues facing the growth and enrichment of The Graduate School of Political Management at The George Washington University.

It may not be, as he put it, politically correct, but former Rep. Vic Fazio thinks new members of Congress could learn a lot from lobbyists.
One thing you need to do is to use your time effectively to learn Washington, to learn whats going on downtown at the labor headquarters, at the corporate office, Fazio advised the freshmen. I mean, this is your chance to get to know people and to let them get to know you. I happen to still think thats important.
Developing relationships, he added, is part of the educational process. These are people who know things. Many of them worked on the Hill. Theyre experts. These are relationships that can be helpful to you.
Fazio conducted the interview as part of Advice for the 112th Congress: A POLITICO video series with former members of Congress.

But only if you really want to know the difference. Otherwise - go ahead and conflate the two.

(114,904 posts)that criticizing black elected officials is bad. You suggest it's bad strategy, which it well may be. Others here have said whites have no right to criticize them. Personally, I see them as elected officials: Some are good representatives, some I don't know much about, others (think Alcee Hastings) I think are chiefly representing their own interests. One thing is clearly true: Some members of the CBC are launching Clinton coordinated dishonest attacks on Sanders.
I think Hillary's dishonest attacks on Bernie are terrible politics. She is alienating an awful lot of potential dem voters. This bodes ill for us in November.
